I have a friend who had a Sprint for a couple of years. He loved it and is going to buy a new one, I thought it was among the 5 most boring bikes I've tried
@javahaxxor How can you call it boring? It has near sport bike performance and I've done 500 mile days comfortably, AND haul two saddlebags full of gear!
@javahaxxor although you do get powerfull 600's nowadays, they have no torque. The 1050 triple engine belches torque out, so just looking at the hp is not giving the full picture...
@markjrobbins : Torque figures say nothing without a context (power and rpm). I agree that the triples have good power development from low revs (torque) but I want my power development to be more of the "build-up" type. I want my bike to scare me at the top end. I'd love a Speed triple for city driving, commuting, but for pure fun, either a KTM 990 or a supersport 1000cc.
I was joking in my previous comment by the way. I own a 07 yamaha FZ1. By no means perfect, but it delivers top-end rush
@javahaxxor power can be hp or torque - they both need an rpm at which these figures peak. If you want a peaky power delivery, then the 1050 engine will not meet your needs, but the KTM 990 will be even worse... If you like your peaky motors stick to jap 4's. Generally the less cylinders you have the more torque and less "peaky" the power delivery will be.
@markjrobbins : you're absolutely right. I gave the 990 as an example of funbike at the other end of my spectrum. For a tourer I guess it's the perfect example of balance between power, weight, and price. For me, I'd still have the K1300S any day (if I could afford it)
