  • "Well, remind me to never let the robots write another segment." Ahh, lampshading since Day 1.

  • Robots can't evolve because they're artificial man-made beings. Only organic beings can evolve. Robots do get an ugrade that the closest thing to evolving for them. Later on, Joel did gave Crow and Servo a paintjob.

  • @starwarsfanboy1138 oh "The Green Slime". That was actually a good movie. It was cheesy, but it was smart at the same time. I believe that movie was part of the real KTMA pilot-episode --the very first MST3K episode ever.

Of course you probably know that the show was later picked up by the "Comedy Channel" (now named "Comedy Central") around 1990 or so, and some years later moved to the "Sci-fi channel".

  • @starwarsfanboy1138 Sorry, I don't know what 'Beeper' is referring to. Also, they weren't actually pilot shows. There was only one pilot. KTMA was a localized cable channel that broadcasted in Minnesota.

Just type 'KTMA' into Google and you'll see an interesting article on it and how MST3K came to be.

  • @starwarsfanboy1138 heh, this was before even the first season, when they were on a local cable channel, KTMA.

  • I actually love Servo's voice here. But I agree Gypsy is terrifying

  • Even the KTMA episodes were funnier than some of the crap we have to see today!

  • Wish somebody'd told me that! Saved myself a lotta bruises jumping off the roof!

  • The creepy thing is that robots DO evolve.

  • Servo is starting to look like SERVO here, and at least he can talk now, even if he's not a lush Irish tenor yet-- But Crow's bulging, immobile eyes are disturbing, and I hated that curved beak. (But GYPSY was absolutely horrifying back then.)

  • (deletes the "&" symbols in the URL bar, hits the "refresh" key, and watches as the stupid "auto-play" bar dissapears)

    Ahhhh!

    MUCH better!

  • Haha, they're trying to fly with the Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy method.

  • @mmichaelson I'm in love with you for saying that.

  • DAMN this is 1989 MST3K

  • The MST3K drinking game: take a shot every time Servo's head falls off.

  • Is it just me or was Joel deliciously fruity in the early episodes?

  • And why are they silver?

  • @M0VIES4U2 This is from when the show was on a UHF station in Minneapolis in 1988-89, before it went to cable. Those are the original versions of the bots.

And this clip is from K10 Cosmic Princess (which is up on YouTube, actually).

  • What episode is this from?

  • ive come to think that the bots are a little poorly made lawl

  • Seems like Tom lost his head in every single season, as far as I'm considered.

  • "We thought if we kept jumping until we missed the floor, we'd be flying."

You canNOT argue with that logic! I MISS THIS SHOOOOOOOOOOOW!

  • Any logic coming from Douglas Adams cannot be fought.

  • Ugh the original servo voice was terrible! And the set is really odd...

  • yeah, they really "evolved."

  • @Xadllas Yeah. The background almost looks like Jabba the Hutt's palace from Star Wars.

  • Wow they did a Hitchhikers' Guide to the Galaxy reference. awesome

  • agreed - i much prefer Kevin Murphy.

  • I like the KTMA episodes- I would love to see them released on DVD

  • Maybe we can talk Shout Factory into releasing them.

  • I love how one or both of the bots always screams, when some part of them comes off... loL!

  • I love the end "That's the last time the robots ever write a segmentMOVIESTAAAAAAAAART!"

I wish there were more KTMA clips.

  • And when I say put out, I mean on DVDs or something. Not just a few clips and a few gamera videos on youtube =]

  • I'd also love to see some, if not all, of the KTMA episodes put out on DVD. They say they won't do it because they think those episodes were horrible, but I, along with alot of other people, disagree.

  • You can actually find them pretty easily on DVD. Just do a google search for them. Here's a hint - type in "mst3k cheepnis" and you can readily find them. I'm not affiliated with the seller in any way, but have been a customer.

  • Joel is so adorable!

I wish they'd put out some of the KTMA era videos. I'd like to see those.

  • this was hysterical.i love the ad lb.kevin murphys is just a little bit more suave, but the head thing was funy.and when he fell.*giggle*

  • Josh Weinstein's Servo is interesting, but he's not quite as charming as Kevin Murphy's Servo.

  • I love Crow's spaz out when he finds out Servo lost his head.

  • Yeah, it's really great and seems ad libbed. I'm not sure, it seems candid, but it could just be good acting.

  • What's odd is that Crow didn't start freaking out until Servo was back on the table. Crow should have been able to see him while Servo was still on the floor.

  • im guessing they didnt have more than 1 take back then, because it's pretty obvious servos head was not supposed to fall off. lol, i love the laughter when it happens. POOPIE! haha. classic KTMA, brilliant

  • While they were on KTMA they didn't have much of a budget, therefore they had to use as little film as possible for the 90 minute episodes.

  • when servo jumped i just had to laugh

  • Wow, whoever used to play Tom was... not too good...

  • He was even worse as Dr. Larry. His Servo is brilliant by comparison.

  • Josh as Tom Servo. The best.

  • I figured we'd keep jumping till we missed the floor, then we'd be flying!

  • A line from Restaraunt at the End of the Universe...I think!

  • Or maybe Life, The Universe, And Everything.

  • This is cool. the older the better.

  • Joel and the 'bots are too cute<3

  • First time Servo's head ever falls off lol
