Is it me or does it seem like Sonic has gotten slower over the years? When I look back at the other games that came out before the 2000s, Sonic was always so much faster than he is now.

@zinmaster24 The day stages in Sonic Unleashed (especially the HD Version) are the fastest Sonic has ever gone. In Sonic Colors he's not as fast as in Unleashed, but still much faster than all the previous 3D games.

@BaconStein Maybe, but in this intro, this just seems to show Sonic at his fastest. Before all the gimmicks that were added on. Sure I know that in the old cartoon and such, Sonic would use a ring to go faster than before or whatever. But, this video seems to show Sonic using his natural pure speed.

Also, this video (in the words of Sonic himself) is "Way Past Cool"

@BaconStein true, but I can't help but feel the controlls are sharper and more responsive in colors. I've noticed that I crash or fall of the track quite a bit less than in unleashed and black knight. if things keep going like this, sonic just might make a miraculous return to greatness. here's hoping!

@zinmaster24 Lots of visual tricks were used in the early games to enhance the appearance of speed - the camera pretending not to be able to keep up, etc. But in these sequences you were rarely actually in control (Chemical Plant Zone, etc) because you'd be liable to crash into things you couldn't see.

@KyoushuAbunai I know this is a very old post, but I couldn't resist. I find it laughable when people make all these Sonic VS Mario things. All of them in a tie, or have a "Choose the ending" option, but really...Mario couldn't hold a candle to Sonic if you were to compare the characters by attributes. @Silverslate Well you also gotta think about it this way. Saying mario is stronger than sonic is like saying sonic is stronger than goku from dragon ball z. People aren't willing to look at the facts and are biased because they only beleive what they want to beleive. Like seriously, mario can only jump on an enemy, if he touches them he dies and needs power ups. Sonic loses his rings upon contact and jumps on enemies, however he can roll up in a ball and kill them and has amazing speed.

it was capable of doing miracles/wishes. as you approached it, reality/space all warped so that it took the proper proportions, yet the planet was infinite to those upon it, which is why robotnick could make seemingly endless cities and "zones" for sonic. to those who have the time/space stones (AKA chaos emeralds) you can create anything you can dream of on the infinite mini planet. thankfully, robotnick lacked imagination, thus allowing sonic to beat him, despite possessing ultimate power.

Thats not the death egg, thats a planet (known as Little Planet) that Robotnic took over - he did this by going back in time with the 7 Time Stones (equivilant to chaos emeralds in this game) on that planet & built robots then.

I still call him Robotnic instead of Eggman cause it makes him sound more bad-ass! =)

although I used to thought that was the Death egg until i relised that this takes place before Sonic 2!

Er, actually no. It's the opening and ending to Sonic CD, one of the more obscure Sonic games that was released way back when. While the art style is quite similar to "Sonic the Movie"/the OVA, there are some slight but noticeable differences.

The game is Sonic CD. It was released for SEGA Mega CD, an add-on for the Genesis/MegaDrive. It was then released for PC, and in 2005, it also appeared on Sonic Gems Collection for GameCube and PS2.
