  • OMG you're a genius !!!

    Greetings from Poland!

  • Sweet looking instrument man! Does it have the same tunings as the Chapman Stick?

  • That is fawking kewl bother!!! Good work

  • Comment removed

  • 5 people thought that dislike button is actually button to download that song lol

  • You look better with a beard

  • Hey. I play Warr too. I design effects pedals, and I've used them on my instrument. Vids of my pedals on my page! Good job playing that challenging song.

  • umm how would you do a open note like for a example a low b on the b string if your tapping? sorry if the answer obvious im kinda n00bie

  • @TheNuclearBanjo There is no tapping of open notes on this. You can take off the dampening material and play it with traditional means such as a pick or fingered and you would be able to get to the open notes.

  • My left ear really enjoyed that...

  • What are the advantages of a Warr Guitar over a Chapman Stick? I'm in the market for one or the other so some knowledge from an actual player would be great.

  • @MrSeemby WARR's sound more like bass and guitar. Chapman Stick has a brighter tone. Very ergonomic as well. The WARR is not the most comfortable thing to play due to it's size.

  • I don't enjoy Tool except for this song, and you sir, are phenomenal

  • How heavy is your Warr?

  • @Wolvve Not sure. 12lbs maybe

  • @WARR138 Looks uncomfortable.

  • @WARR138 amazing dude, if anyone hates on you for this, they HAVE to just simply be jealous.

I though playing a five-string was "advanced" or "extended range" i guess i was kinda off on that thought

personally i love extended range basses

maybe after a few dozen years I can try one of these bad boys

thanks man, this video is amazing

  • Once 4:45 happened, I just died, YOU ARE MY GOD!

  • love this you have great covers love warr guitars

  • isn't it just a chapman stick?

  • @allmetaliswelcome It's the same type of instrument, but this was released later. As I recall the Warr Guitar was the first touch instrument to have a Buzz Feiten system.

  • That bass solo was sick, honestly, I enjoyed the whole thing, but that was just perfection.

  • i think the harmonic part that you tapped is Carey's mandala pad

  • You put strings on a surfboard??

  • Rad how you can afford this beautiful instrument, but yet fail to use it for it's full potential. Should of stuck with the 6 string for this buddy.

  • thats's just incredible! you're god

  • that thing's ugly :X great performance though! =3

  • God man.. just god!

  • can i.... can i draw you...?

  • Fantastic! Thanks for putting all of the work into this piece!

  • @ghorton Thank you and you're welcome. Ha.

  • @WARR138 I love the music Tool so much it almost hurts and I absolutely loved this - thank you :)

  • I loved this performance, so i'mjust speechless...congrats :D

  • @marcomistake91 Cool. Thanks.

  • how much does an instrument like this usually cost

  • @guitarheromaniaco5 over $3000 i think. not cheap.

  • Wow that was really cool................is that velcro on the first two frets to help with muting?

  • @arnilious Yup. I use the fuzzy side and put it under both the 1st and second fret for added damping. I rarely play below a low D (3rd fret) on the lowest bass string and all other notes are playable from other positions. On my other instrument I actually stick the hooked side of the velcro on top so that it is like a string sandwich between two pieces of velcro bread. Works pretty well.

  • thanks for doing that slide at 3:00. really cool performance

  • @needlearmor You caught that huh? Thanks

  • is there no way to play this like a guitar or bass normally?

  • @LightbreadLoftin You can but you would have to modify your technique. The strings are spaced tighter than a regular bass so fitting a finger would require some strict form. Picking is also possible but the action on the instrument is very low, to facilitate tapping, so you get alot of string buzz when you pick or pluck the strings unless you play with a very soft touch. I do a little crossover of techinique in my Grudge cover

  • Wait, so when you're NOT playing a Warr, are you a guitarist, or bassist?

Either way, you kick too much ass.

  • @orfenandanarchy Started out as a guitar player. Play craploads of instruments now. WARR guitar kind of turned me onto bass playing/players. It is such a rhythmic instrument and is capable of such aggression, which I like. Thanks for checking out my vids.

  • You Sir, you are amazing.

  • @PCB94 Too kind

  • that thing is insane

  • Ever heard of a harp?

  • this is the best schism cover on youtube, plus it's played on instrument that's very difficult to master. great job!

  • @vukstanovcic There are so many covers of this on YouTube so thanks alot.

  • What's this one tuned to?

  • @divingrox24 It is what is called UnCrossed 4ths. Bass side is like a 6 string bass BEADGC and the Melody side is all 4ths too BEADGC

  • Dude! I have the same pedal! It's pretty amazing!

Your cover is phenominal, btw! Great Job!

  • @Austinroxursoxoff Thanks alot

  • If my head hadn't exploded I would have jerked off! AWESOME!

  • @moodshelby umm Thanks....I think.

  • @WARR138 yeah, sorry about that. I was really high when I wrote that. Good job though. VERY well done.

  • sick man! you are really good

  • @onthefarm88 Thanks

  • Tuning that thing must be hell. Sounds amazing though.

  • @bassistsdoitdeeper NOt too bad because it stays in tune well (locking Sperzels)

  • I think the harmonics you hear are Danny's mandela pads...Sounds superb on the WARR...Absolute flawless! Well done!

  • I see you're a painter? or maybe not?

  • @SrLaberynto I dabble. You can see my easel in the background. Been too busy for the past 2 years to do any painting. It's play music or paint. Music always wins.

  • That thing is crazy looking......if you were a real bad-ass you'd play the

guitar parts simultaneously with your toes.

  • Y esa Warr guitar cuanto costara???

  • @andrekkezero Mucho Denero

  • WOW. Amazing guitar man. Really a thing of beauty. How much did that set you back?

  • @Jacko11120 Too much. Worth it though IMHO. Warrguitars

  • that was fukin sick.

  • @mustafakhalil THanks.

  • @mustafakhalil I concur.... awesome.

  • The deeper sound on this is like a beast's breath. Then again, the thing is a beast indeed.

    Well played by the way.

Are the pickups on that thing any different than the bass guitars out there? I try tapping on my Ibanez GSR, but it doesn't pick the sound up as well as this. Does it mean that your guitar picks up on the taps better than regular basses or am I doing it wrong?

Once again, well played... and the guitar is one hell of a bass.

  • Thanks. It is as "beastly" as it looks. The reason this thing can pick up the tapping so well is it is designed and built to serve that specific purpose. The neck has a near "0" radius and the action is extremely low which is why the pickups can capture the sound so well. It has active Bartolini pickups so it has a pretty hot output as well.

  • @WARR138

i see... i'm going to have to take my guitar skills to a new level and buy me one of those Warrs and a Chapman stick... they are like, one of the most influential instruments I have ever heard and they both sound so beautiful.

  • Are the strings muted at the first fret, or is it a zero fret?

  • It uses the Buzz Feiten intonation system. There is a muting pad under the first fret region which kind of makes sounding those notes nearly impossible. It is necessary to keep the open strings muted when tapping.

  • This was cool but it's just not the same

  • "Not the same" Really? That's an understatement. Some dude in his basement playing an instrument by himself to a song that someone else wrote...

  • @WARR138 what i ment was didnt sound the same to me but this is really cool

  • this is the most incredible thing ive seen all week.

very interesting and excellent cover, nice touch with the panning so i could hear just your bass.

    5/5

  • Thanks

  • That was incredibly clean and well played.

    Great work man.

  • is that left handed strung backwards or are the pots on the top so there easier to reach cos if they were underneath itd be incerdibly hard to get to them. this cover was incredible by the way

  • It is all strung in ascending 4ths, like bass guitar. It just has two regions side by side - Gtr + Bass. All of the tone and volume controls are on the top because you mostly play it like I am in the video (upright) and so it is convenient having them there. On my other instrument which you can see on my channel, I have another model that has MIDI controls on the bottom too.

  • That's pretty damn impressive. Nice work

  • I aim to please. Thanks.

  • wow that is some crazy looking thing!

  • Awesome fucking job man!

  • Appreciated. Thanks

  • great performance!!

  • My humble thanks.

  • ...I just watched this again, and you do look just like Sol Rosenberg. Keep Rippin'!

  • this is really really cool

  • Thanks.

  • i love the part with the harmonics - great job!

  • Thanks. That's just my little twist on it. Tried to remain true overall though.

  • dude this is just amazing this is sweet, you have repped this tool song well, true fan man! play stinkfist in that thing

  • I like all tool songs but I am fascinated with JC's bass sounds and playing on the newer stuff to be honest. Thanks for the comments.

  • this is just so awesome.

Great instrument, I would love to try it :)

I also use this eventide pitchfactor, it's really good, I just don't understand people buying bass whammy at 500 $ used ... :D

    Your cover is genius.

    Cheers,

    remi

  • @remiiiiiii Thank you. I researched the pitchfactor for a while before I bought it. It is a complete no-brainer to go with it over the Bass Whammy. You can do everything it can do, but with much better quality, and tons more like reverbs, delays etc.. The "Flex" switch makes those octave sweeps really easy too.

  • @WARR138 I'm using an expression pedal with it ;) so no "flex" switch for me. But whatever, it does the trick too ! Again, great job on your covers. Cheers.

  • @remiiiiiii Do you mean you have the flex switch but you prefer the expression pedal? I have an expression pedal that I use with it but it is crappy so for this song I just used the flex switch. Can you recommend a really good expression pedal?

I went to your site too. Your band is cool. Good luck!

  • @WARR138 , yep, because (if I remember well), you can only use the flex switch in normal mode, not in preset mode. And for live show, I need presets. And also, I prefer control the pitch ;)

I tried 3 different pedals, and the only one that works fine is the ErnieBall JR 6181 (25k ohm, that's important). Plus, is a tank ;)

Thanks for my band. Bye !

  • @remiiiiiii I didn't know that about the preset mode. I'll definitely check out the Ernie Ball. I think that is the one they recommend as well. Thanks.

  • @WARR138 !!! man, theses presets are great things. When u'r in preset mode, you use the right switch to change bank, and in each bank, you have 2 presets (activated by using the left, or middle switch). Look into the user manual ;)

If you plan to use an exp pedal, go for the EB (pay attention to the model (6181)), it's the best one.

  • @remiiiiiii My bad. I knew about that. I though maybe there was some other mode where you recall presets or something. I guess I must have been using it in preset mode and then I switch it into the play mode which gives you the flex option.

  • @WARR138 , my bad then (my english is not perfect so that's why :D). ;)

  • ....dude, that ripped, very nice.

  • A-FUCKING-MAZING.

  • thats delicious broskie.

    keep it up!

  • nice instrument... great job.

  • Very cool. BTW, what brand of stretched canvases are you using there.

  • That "." should have been a "?" :D

  • Now THAT's a shame. You look like you have fun playing that thing and you're exceptionally talented. Damn I wish you were near Reno,NV.

  • NOICE!!! What amp do you generally play through?

  • Sadly I never play out so I always go direct from the BASS POD when recording.

  • This is awesome, what does it sound like if you throw a RAT or Muff on that thing?

  • I am using a Line 6 Bass Pod which has emulations of the RAT and Muff. I am using that sound at the very end when the riff from the beginning of the tune comes back and ends the song. To answer more directly....it sounds fucking ballsy!

  • Awesome job man sounds sick !
