There is a German film about Bach that I would recommend from around 2002 titled, "Mein Name ist Bach". I saw it shown here in the States with English language subtitles.
@1banders Their are historic accounts of rivalry between the two. Mozart didn't like Italians generally because they were seen as taking all the good jobs in COurts. So...... Yeah.
@OfficialRJLextro Yes, they sometimes found themselves competing for the same projects, and Salieri was sometimes chosen over Mozart, which Mozart (in his letters) attributed to an Italian conspiracy. But Mozart and Salieri also collaborated on some projects. And Salieri admired and performed Mozart's music publicly. In fact, there was no conspiracy. But "Amadeus" spun a tale of pure cinematic fiction out of Mozart's misapprehensions.
Actually, "Amadeus" is a theatre work. It's a methaphore about envy. As it took such great and famous composers, and with its movie version, people took it as if it's the real Mozart and Salieri's biography. What can we do? Just try to inform, that's the best we can do about it!
To be eclectically blessed is a blessing that should never be disguised ! I feel the heavens moving though my thoughts & it does not cost any frequent flyer points....☺

@bachinblack94 ...agreed Monsieur. Christianity inspired some of the greatest painters, sculptors, architects and composers like Bach for example, who initialed his scores "D.G' ie. @PfaelzerOrganist oh no Im not saying that, the lutherans and more the lutherans of those days have the liturgy very similar to the Roman, and there are great Lutheran masses too.
That´s right ... it´s shameful seeing todays trends in Lutheran Church especially in liturgy and music with all that Calvinistic crap ... but we´re working against it, bringing back the beauty of liturgy and the origin teachings which are also very close to the (traditional) Roman Catholics ... Lutherans shall be the catholics of the Augsburg Confession! Christmas greetings from Lutheran Highchurch from Germany!
@PfaelzerOrganist oh youre so Kind, thanks a lot, the Germans have such a wonderful religious tradition, like Bach with the lutherans a very marvelous religion and Beethoven as catholic ( my religion ) the lutherans from Lutero were so familiar to the ROman church, buth today is very diferent and if you try to bring the tradition again, Youre my Hero = )
@PfaelzerOrganist Blessings to you PfaelzerOrganist in your fight to keep the beauty and majesty of the Christian tradition alive in the Lutheran church. From a Catholic (converted from Protestantism), you should know that there are plenty of people fighting the same fight as you in the Catholic Church, with some wonderful recent victories, so we are true brethren.
@manuelspcool Bach the Lutheran's sacred music, though not Roman Catholic, is totally "catholic" to the point where it is even sung at St. Peters in Rome.
@PfaelzerOrganist The Mass doesn't fit Lutheran or Catholic liturgies. It was assembled 1724-1749, mostly from earlier works. Many movements are parodies of Leipzig cantata movements. The Sanctus was performed 1725 in Leipzig. The Kyrie & Gloria were composed 1733, performed 1733 at the Catholic court in Dresden & dedicated to the Saxon Duke/Elector/Prince (soon ot be elected king) in Poland in hopes of being granted the royal protection of an official title in the royal capelle.
@PfaelzerOrganist In 1736 the king granted Bach's request. About a week later Bach appeared in Dresden to play "on the new organ in the church of Our Lady...in the presence of the Russian Ambassador... and many Persons of Rank, also a large attendance of other persons and artists, with particular admiration, wherefore also His Royal Majesty graciously named the same, because of his great ability in composing, to be His Majesty's Composer."

@fedefournier It's D dur (nicht A moll) @ A415. Pitch is relative.
Not everyone today tunes to A440; many philharmonics tune higher.
Not everyone in the Baroque tuned to A415.
Had Bach performed this in Weimar around 1700-1717, it would have been in D major @ A465 (1/2 step > A440). In Leipzig around 1720-1750, it would have been in D major @ A415 (1/2 step < A440). Schuetz did his church music at A462. Baroque organs are tuned around A465+, and some Baroque winds, around A392.
baroque tuning was different from 440. Usually we perform in 415, when A in 415 sounds as A flat n 440. But historically in 17-18 centures there were many different tunings, from 380 to 460
more or less....438 - is too little difference to hear h-moll as a moll.... it should be 382
