Nice vid. i have a '01 Chrysler Sebring Coupe, its had the same motor and parts (even the inside is the same as the eclipse GT) and i've hit 145mph in mine. dont think ill do it again but it was fun to see how fast it can go! most cars cant do that these days. but good job!! doin it at night is scarrry

In reply to all the comments on here. The car was stock with the exception of intake, short shifter, and exhaust. It was red with carbon fiber hood, lowered, with 18's. It was definitely a fun car. I got rid of it March of 2009. I was having some problems with it. Throttle body was going, tires were shot, suspension was getting there. I just didn't feel like dealing with it. I traded it in for a 2009 Eclipse gt. Check it out on cardomain. Captain_Crunch
i,ve done 165 in a eclipse rs, so 140 in a 00 GT isnt unreal, i also own a 01 GT, vettes are weak, just an expensive camaro with nicer brakes if you think about it, same drivetrain
i have a 2000 eclipse gt 5speed, this video seems a little slow, i topped mine at 163 on gps, i redid my gears when i put in the stage 3 clutch so that may have helped...i dunno this has to be an auto...
150 is about the limit. it will take a long distance to top it out though. i have a cold air intake and illegal, cat-free exhaust on mine. i covered some ground trying to do that though. it would do 150 after a little bit but i dont feel like it had any more in it than that. just take my word on that. its kinda risky.
Yeah but no risk = no glory... no cool stories to talk about. You only get 1 life and you gotta make it memorable. Im not saying going 150 every weekend, just that doing it 1nce is somewhat ok if you take good care of your car and know how to keep it safe.
yeah, no risk = no glory. i just highly suggest doing it on an empty stretch of straight interstate with good visibility so you dont endanger any others. besides that its pretty fun. i've hit 140+ only 2 or 3 times and i call it quits. make sure your tires are rated for the speed and properly inflated too. radar detectors are also a plus.
i've only gotten to 110 mph with my RS 100% stock, i did notice however that the RPMS were not close to the red lines and iam pretty sure that was the governor going in, iam guessing an RS MIGHT go 130 with some slight mods and a chip
hey does anyone here have the problem with there 3g gt or gts model eclipse that when you hit over 4k the engine cuts back? if so CHECK YOUR INTAKE the part that sucks in air might not be bolted down an is sucking up against the hood of the car. just 2 bolts not very hard to get..just wanted to throw that out there just in case you guys had the same problem =D let me know if i helped any of you. well like i saidi have no prob gettin mine up there and that was before i did anything to it and i still had more to go but i have heard theres a fuel cut at 147mph @6500 rpm but i slowed down for traffic at 140mph
the ecu is programmed to stop the fuel flow to the injectors when it reaches a certain rpm so that you don't blow your engine. its different for different cars but unless you do some major modding there's no need to mess with the limiter.

not sure, as far as i no most performance chips on deal with fuel mapping, air/fuel ratios, stuff like that but not 100% on that i would think you would have to get it tuned by a shop (unless you had the software) anyways to change the factory fuel cut

actually if you're on fifth gear at 6200rpm you're doing 155mph... anything higher than that you need a 6 gear..Or you can just install a hardened, straight-cut gear set with interchangable ratios for greater durability, quicker gear arrangments, lower power loss and full adjustability. With this you can adjust final drive ratios. Im' only 14 years old so correct me if im wrong.
No way. 145hp will not hit 150 unless you're in a go-kart. Once the GT's modded it really asks for a 6th gear... Anyone know any good replacement trannies with better gearing for the 3g? I suppose its only geared for the quarter mile anyway. Oh, whered you get your chip?
i have a 2001 mitsu eclipse GS haha yea i said a gs and ive hit 150 with a modded chip, to take the restriction off. may have taken 2 miles but it got there. mods are full catback exhaust with headers, k&N full typhoon air intake system. 2" lowering springs and S class racing tires. so pretty much still stock haha. THEY CAN DO 150
There is no way an RS with 156 on the dyno hitting 150. The V6 with 205 can get close stock, with mods it gets there. This one is either stock, or that check engine light is on for good reason.

actually its extremley common for the check engine light to be on in eclipses. trust me im an owner of one lol. 50% of the time its just a dirty IAC valve. and 25% of the time the o2 sensor cause they SUCK
eclipses are weird mine got emergency brake light on when breaks needed to be replaced,.. they didnt even make any noise, nice technology really helps

If you had one of these you would know that that blurry light that is on is check engine soon light... so he is doing this with that on....... and idc what was making it go on.... regardless of the light being on. Just because your check engine light is on, does not mean. o my gosh, if i don't go to the repair shop now and have a tech plug up a scan tool to it and fix this problem, the engine will blow up.

At the time, the intake was mounted as a ram air intake, and it was sucking a lot of hot air from the engine, therefore tripping the engine light. I lowered the air filter a little bit closer to the ground, and had the light turned off, and it hasn't been on since.

It might be the secondary intake runners (butterflies) in the intake manifold that opens at 4k or 5k rpm .......

Yes it can go that fast i have a 2000 stock gt eclipse... yes it can. But this guy is an idiot..... If you had one of these you would know that that blurry light that is on is check engine soon light... so he is doing this with that on....... and idc what was making it go on.... (jus read you comment) its stupid to do that before you fix it lol.

regardless of the light being on. Just because your check engine light is on, does not mean. o my gosh, if i don't go to the repair shop now and have a tech plug up a scan tool to it and fix this problem, the engine will blow up.

At the time, the intake was mounted as a ram air intake, and it was sucking a lot of hot air from the engine, therefore tripping the engine light. I lowered the air filter a little bit closer to the ground, and had the light turned off, and it hasn't been on since.
