I have to be honest, "Warpaint" wasn't exactly the comeback I had hoped for, being the hardcore Crowes' fan I am and always have been. Then "Before the Frost" came out, and I had to admit: these guys are not done yet, they can still live up to what they have put out in the early nineties. And thank goodness for that...The Crowes are still flying high!

Their Live experience is also an event to behold. Some people didn't like it because "they didn't play enough old stuff". halfway through the concert they had an intense jam session for like 20 minutes...Wish i had that on CD. they burned incense and the whole thing was very uplifting and peaceful....very Groovey.
The Crowes are real nice people. superbly talented musicians who have created a rock n' roll masterpiece. I ran out and got Warpaint when It was released last year...by far one of my favorite albums. Every song, every nuance...creative genius.

Provided that I totally agree with you, Counting Crows are no match whatsoever to the Black Crowes, you have to consider one thing: after "Lions", and I mean after their long hiatus, the Crowes came back different: their music is a lot more "American" now, it's gone back to its southern rock/folk roots. It should come as no surprise that a record like "Amorica" sells better than "Warpaint" or "Before the Frost", in Britain.

Ya know I always liked She Talks to Angels, thought it was a pretty good song. Last summer I caught them at a local music festival, and I was simply blown away by them live. Their best one is "By Your Side," truly a bluesy rocker of an album with Zep and Stones influences well in tow. But more than that, it's their most focused effort -- no bad songs on this one. It rocks!
My Morning Song is the most underrated track on The Southern Harmony and Musical Companion. Brilliant piece of music. Same with Sometimes Salvation. That's one album in which there isn't a bad song on there from start to finish and it's one of those generational albums in which it never gets old, and if you enjoy music from the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s and current, you'll never be disappointed with that album.

Brilliant! They usually play one of their megahits, when I saw them Hard To Handle, and then everyting else is a little off the beaten path. They did a lot of songs off of Warpaint though, which was fantastic with me.

Not their best or worst....I saw the tour in NH and posted some of it on my site.
Personally I would have liked to see more of their old stuff other than two songs. I know they are promoting a new album but really, do we really need to see filler tracks like "Whoa mule?" it would have been nice to see a "Remedy" or even a "Sometimes Salvation". However the two tunes from THE BAND "Rocking Chair" and the encore "night they drove old Dixie down" made my summer.

I saw these cats play with jimmy page @ the roseland ballroom in downtown manhattan oct. 1999, & they played nothing but led zepplin tunes. later down in charleston, s.c. i ran into a dude that busted tables with chris robinson

I loved the Crowes before, but when I was able to catch them in a small venue in Charlotte, I was fricken blown away! They are such a great band! This latest cd reminds me so much of Shake your Money Maker, it is great!

Their best one is "By Your Side," truly a bluesy rocker of an album with Zep and Stones influences well in tow. But more than that, it's their most focused effort -- no bad songs on this one. It rocks!

My Morning Song is the most underrated track on The Southern Harmony and Musical Companion. Brilliant piece of music. Same with Sometimes Salvation. That's one album in which there isn't a bad song on there from start to finish and it's one of those generational albums in which it never gets old, and if you enjoy music from the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s and current, you'll never be disappointed with that album.

Awesome song and a phenomenal band. So refreshing to see them cling to their roots. Too many bands of the past forget where they come from and try for a more "mainstream" appeal. Glad to see that The Black Crowes haven't been forced to "sellout" their integrity.

As a Crowes fan since 1990, and enjoying every new CD, every tour, every show I have been fortunate enough to see, I don't care if I ever see H2H again. Sorry, but they have such a great awe inspiring catalog at this point, that is old news. Good, but not great and mature as the Rock Gods they have grown in to!!!

One thing casual fans never get about the Crowes:
They don't do greatest hits shows...if you ever go see them and expect to hear H2H, Jealous, Remedy, Angels etc...you'll probably be disappointed.

Brilliant! They usually play one of their megahits, when I saw them Hard To Handle, and then everyting else is a little off the beaten path. They did a lot of songs off of Warpaint though, which was fantastic with me.

Not their best or worst....I saw the tour in NH and posted some of it on my site.
Personally I would have liked to see more of their old stuff other than two songs. I know they are promoting a new album but really, do we really need to see filler tracks like "Whoa mule?" it would have been nice to see a "Remedy" or even a "Sometimes Salvation". However the two tunes from THE BAND "Rocking Chair" and the encore "night they drove old Dixie down" made my summer.
