Bud this is way too costly. You can do the same with just an air card. WiFi over the cell is slow except for web surfing. Again why would I pay $800 for a router and a signal booster? Seems like a fail too me.
@1timby This stuff evolves quickly... Things have changed over the past 3 years, mostly for the better. At the moment one option is simply to tether a smartphone to a laptop. With this system you are paying a premium for the convenience of having all the equipment selected for you. But at the time the video was made, the system was (and still is?) a bargain when compared to satellite options.
Hmmm, I'm not sure what to advise with regard to Verizon. We were told that Sprint has the best 3G coverage. Really, the key to this Wifi in Motion kit is 3G -- with 3G you will get a really nice connection speed.
I have verizon now and the thing is about my area is that verizon owns the area I live in. Sprint and another are not allowed to sale in this area. Go figure that one out.
Also where I live, certain verizon phones do not get a good reception and have to go outdoors to send a text and not a voice call. Signal to week even though I am in the red area.
I've heard good things about the satellite systems. But they are expensive. I think one would cost 2X or 3X the Wifi in Motion kit.
If you want the cheapest route, just start with an aircard (from Sprint, since they seem to have the best coverage).
The Wifi in Motion kit uses an aircard, but adds a signal booster, router, and antenna. Basically the Wifi in Motion kit bundles together a lot of separate items into one package. Someone else has done the homework for you.
I would have to buy only a seperate antenna to use on my boat then a new satlelite set up for each vehicle. It would be easier and cheaper than satlelite for that part . But still not sure though.
Thanks for your comments, guys. Maybe I should clarify a couple of things about this system. Basically, you can use this kit to get a wifi signal using cell signals, which comes in really handy when you are camping or anywhere that you can't find some other reliable wifi signal. It also creates your own secure local wifi network which is pretty cool.
Well if that becomes popular, Would everyone have to buy the setup or pay for internet? I have a card in my laptop and it picks up others signals and I don't have to pay for an internet service because of all the waves in my area. Kinda makes you wonder if that is the problem with the bees starting to vanish. They make a plug in rodent and insect repelents for the home that works thru the wires to rid the pests. Who cares as long as I got my cell phone connection.
wow.. that was a really good video. thanks. I've not seen a product like that, it looks really easy to install. So cool that you have an xbox360 tucked away in there.

What's your thoughts of satlelite,as in for combo for TV and internet usage? Would it be the better way to go for that combo?
