The tube screamer type drives work best hitting the front end of an already pushed amp. You aren't going to get the sustain you are complaining about without some volume/compression. These are designed to push an amp into a more fluid ovedrive sound. People say the TS808 doesn't have enough gain. I hit the front of my JTM45 or DSL50 with it and I get PLENTY OF GAIN!
I gotta ts808, Homebrew Power Screamer, And a Fulltone OCD... Love em all but if I could only have 1 it be the power screamer.... Very nice overdrive Sparkly sound, Great Clarity...... I dig Mine
i´ve had one of this a long time ago. switched to a fulldrive mosfet , went back to the ibanez ts, currently using an old fulldrive non mosfet ... this is a pretty awesome, ts like pedal , i miss mine :)
@riktok I had an older Fulltone Non-Mosfet back in about 2001-2002. I really loved it, but I really couldn't get as much overdrive out of it as I wanted. It had a great sound though.
Well, I've never owned a tubescreamer, so I can't really say. I can tell you that I absolutely love my Homebrew, and it has got a lot of versatility with the 3-way diode switch and tone knob. I have had this pedal for quite a few years now, and I still love it. I can't imagine having any other overdrive.
I usually keep the toggle switch on the first setting (left), and the gain at about 12:00-3:00. Of course, I have other favorite settings, but that's what I usually keep it at. It is an awesome pedal!
There are so many overdrives available. I remember when I was in the market, I listened to a million sound bytes and read a million review on various overdrives. I am so gald I made the choice that I did. This pedal is so awesome! It is incredibly versatile. I can't imagine not having it!!
Yes. The boost adds 10 db to the gain. I wish it added a few more, but it's noticeable when playing live. It's hard to hear the difference on the video though.
Actually, I was just going direct. I think I used a little reverb from the Alesis NanoVerb, but other than that, it was just... right out into the computer. I would love to use my amp for these recordings, but when I mike the amp, it picks up the shhhhh sound, so I find it's way quieter just going direct.
Thanks for the compliments! Yes, I really love the sound of the Power Screamer. It gives you a ton of different sounds! I love it!!!!

Do you think it sounds better than a tubescreamer? I have a ts808 and don't like it. It has no real sustain, and colours the tone horribly!

Poor tuner.....its probably crying, "SLOW DOWN!"

It's even funnier if you mute the sound and watch it. Maybe I'm a little bored. LOL

Yeah, I'm selling one... and can't seem to sell it at all! Guess that jazzmaster is going to have to wait for 3 extra months :(

I was using my 1996 Fender Lonestar Stratocaster. I can't remember what settings I was using. Sorry.

You are a wonderful player but need to drop the other effects when doing demo's. I appreciate this and other postings you've done!

who cares - make your own demo then if this one isnt to your exact standards
