I must admit, as a fan of Lovecraft, you lads did his work honor. Truly a good video representation of The Statement of Randolph Carter. The look of terror on Carter's face and the horrid voice were both very well done.
Love the lighting really nice job on that. I am not sure if this was supposed to be an updated version. The clothes and technology seem to lean towards modern, but the speech is left mostly how it was in the story. Also confused about the voice's origin at the climax. Also, fire your boom operator.
I thought this was a really good, shortened adaptation. Only thing I had opposition towards was the sound quality and the "voice",but otherwise it was a splendid take!
Well done. The voice at the end was very good, though not what I imagined it to be. It was described as being deep, hollow, remote, gelatinous, ect. I guess I always thought of it as being a lot quieter, inkier. Like a gargle-y demonic whisper or something.
I find it interestin that over the years, there has never been a full length feature film utilising all the CGI that we can today, of a Lovecraft novel.....and yes, I am aware of the crap 70's films and reanimator and From Beyond which were rather pants lets face it. Maybe pure gothic horror doesnt trandlate well , like comic book heroes....shame, because load of people have tried.
Check out Call Of Cthulhu by the HP Lovecraft Historical Society. It's done in the style of a 1930's silent film, and is the best Lovecraft adaptaion I've been able to find. It's quite good if you can apreciate silent films.
Great acting and nicely filmed. However personally I imagined the voice Carter hears at the end to be quiet and creepy rather than loud and booming. Like a disconcerting morbid voice, I think this would have been more frightening. Easy to say I guess - less easy to capture.
I loved the effect of the light moving along the trees making shadows in the snow, very creepy... The hole video had great continuity but the dialog was strange.
I comend you actors for being out in the cold and doing that scene pretty well.
The dialog is directly from H.P. Lovecraft's story so it obviously doesn't translate very well to modern speech. The quicktime on our main site shows the shadows much better by the way.

Good job except for the over-use of shaking the camera.

that's from the extreme cold of the midwest winters and the lack of a steady cam. it wasn't a directorial choice.

That voice gave me chills! So well set up by the calm and reserved tones of voice leading up to it.

Thanks!

@vitaminart Yeah, I was expecting one of those electronically deepened voices. This sounded more like a guy shouting in an echo chamber.

Not bad. My only complaint is that this story was to have taken place in Florida and the snow sort of ruins it for me.
