xfx radeon hd 6850 is best to get now because it is has the same price as a sapphire one and is a little bit overclocked and you will see a difference of 4-10 fps when comparing to reference or sapphire cards.
@thegolfman52 radeon makes the chipset that goes on the card. that's what takes care of all the processes that the video card does. the manufacturer is the company that puts the card together with the given chipset and there own components like cooling. while the chipset will function the same between all the different manufacturers, the amount of cooling allows for overclocking, which can be an x factor between cards with the same chipset.
@MrStusuth okay cool i have msi they have the fan and water pipes or those pipes so chill ill overclock it to max i have one cabinet fan and then then the processor fan and my card has the msi hole and stuff to flush out air so can i overclock to max??
@thegolfman52 If you have the MSI Cyclone, than your in luck. I'm looking to get that card and the reviews I've seen say that the big fan on the top makes it a really good overclocker. I've never overclocked before myself because I'm afraid I'll fry components, but you might want to get better than a stock CPU fan before really pushing it. The more cooling the better, otherwise you may have a busted component on your hands.
@MrStusuth haha nope i have the oc edition:/ the red one yeah not too big a fan and i have another 120mm at the back and i didnt know it needed external power so i gave it in for warranty and i have to wait 15 days i was going to try to tell them to do something or sell my xbox and get the lower end cyclone 2 and i dont think ill ever buy another radeon card ill always buy nvidea mfor bf3 hopefully a twin frozr ti and up to how much ram does the h61 motherboard accept??upto 8 gigs??
@thegolfman52 The H61 chipset can support up to 16 Gb. of memory so you're good there. If you do want to go with Nvidia in the future, your probably going to pay a little bit more for the same performance. I don't know how much your MSI 6850 cost, but The one I'm planning on getting is on Tiger direct. If you search for 6850 cyclone it should come up.
It's a really good deal on the chipset that's usually $180, and it's got that great big fan on it as well. Good overclocker from what I've read.
@MrStusuth yeah but what about battlefield 3 ??dont you think everyone will need atleast 8gb ram and a powerful graphics card like the gtx 560 and above??
@thegolfman52 I just looked up the requirements, and the minimum requirements for BF3 are pretty low, but the recomended ATI card is a 6850. Anything from there up will do you just fine. on the Nvidia side, it says gtx 460 and up is recomended. It depends whether you really want to push the envelope with the new engine in the game. If you do, it won't be cheap, and you might try a crossfire set up. However, the H61 motherboard doesn't support crossfire, it's a pretty budget oriented chipset.
@thegolfman52 Sorry, I should've explained that. A crossfire setup is where you have two video cards, usually identical or at least with the same chipset, both plugged into PCI X16 slots on your motherboard. They effectively double the number of shaders and increase a bunch of the other stats of the GPU. You can get the performance of about a Radeon 6990 ($900-$1200) for the price of two 6850's ($300-$350). If you want to get the equivelant of a really good card, you can do it for much less $.
@thegolfman52 If you want to do that crossfire deal, you will firstly need a motherboard that supports Crossfire in its bios software, and it will also need 2 PCI Express X16. You can find all these statistics about a motherboard on a website like new egg. They'll have the specs in the details section of the product page, and there will also be reviews on it. What I'm going to do with my box is get one 6850 to start and then if I have the money and I want too in the future, I'll Crossfire my GPU
dude why would you buy an i7 when u could've bought a phenom x6? a lot cheaper, you could've got an hd6900 series instead and get a heavy weight cpu anyways lol
@RapturousDemise dude many benchmarks have been done between amd and intel processors , yes amd its cheaper but at the test bench intel is much much better and this is a fact
So you would be saving 70 dollars. To get a card more powerfull than what you already have you would have to spend a lot more money, it's not worth it, so you could've used those 70 bucks in better cooling and better psu for overclocking.
@RapturousDemise i dont build my computer (dont disscus that please) i purchase an alienware aurora at the top confuguration soo i dont really need the cooling system because i already have one
1-this is my first REAL gaming pc before that i have a mac book pro 13 and i ask my aunt (how works on pc stuff i forget the name) because i was a little blind since this is my first real pc soo he told me that in some cases harware was incompatible and i go and buy a premade pc
2-in my country its rare to find soo overkill hardware
3-i want this computer to run games at the highest graphic within 3 years
lol it's rare to find so overkill hardware? Dude, hardware stores aren't rare I don't care where you live in. You had big budget, you wasted tons of cash lol.
the truth is, intel makes cpus that are so powerful that they get extremely expensive. Who needs that kind of power anyway? When we do need it, AMD is gonna be making a cheap, reliable cpu to cover that need. In the meanwhile intel is gonna keep shooting for the sky pointlessly. So if you want to perform time travel, buy a 1000$ xeon and a couple of gtx580, if you want to play games, buy a phenom x6 and a nice hd6900 series gpu.
Holding gaming back? Not at all! I think it's a great way how it minimizes the graphics so you don't have you buy a new card every year (or every second year). But i only play ps3 exclusives on the ps3. And multiplatform and pc exclusives on my pc.
I'm hoping to pick this computer up soon. It's in a bundle with a 22 inch full hd gamer screen, 1000 dpi mouse and a keyboard for ca. $800-$1000 (allready got a gaming mouse/keyboard).
@MrRallemulle Consoles really are the gaming industry anchors they are 5 years old now. think of a year year old pc it just dosent work so for every game other than pc exclusives are being held back due to limitations of the consoles. if i had a 5 year old pc right now id be giving it to good will.
QUESTIÒN at all users !!!. Ive got the same graphics card and i have an ASRock extreme3 Mainboard (but it only works with a very smallo resolution and settings
can i play this game at max settings smoothly with these specs? i5 2500K(3.30GHz) 4GB DDR3 1TB HDD Capacity AMD Radeon HD 6850 Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. please reply thanks.
What kind of FPS were you getting? Looks very smooth, but I'm just curious about the specifics b/c I'm thinking of upgrading my 4850 to 6850 in preparation for Crysis 2.
@Mirmidon87 Because you cannot overclock with an H67. And a 2500k is a CPU that was designed to be overclocked. P67 is what you should have gotten since you're gonna use a discrete graphics card anyway. Your CPU is a waste of money.

lol u fail hard because ur i7 is about as powerful as the amd phenom x6 1100t, the difference in performance is minimal:
Intel Core i7 950 @ 3.07GHz - 6,359 (3dmark score) - $259.99
AMD Phenom II X6 1100T - 6,293 (3dmark score) - $189.99
So you would be saving 70 dollars. To get a card more powerfull than what you already have you would have to spend a lot more money, it's not worth it, so you could've used those 70 bucks in better cooling and better psu for overclocking.
