@suiteangel45 Be carefull because I had a store bought green tree frog that would sing and wake up everyone in the house at 3am .They are nocturnal and the males are very loud of SOME species .Find the exact species name and read up how loud they are if its possible to determine if you have girls /boys . To do it right you need more space .Water in small aquariums spoils very easily .Bigger is better for water quality , you need to buy a filter and benificial bacteria addatives (in a bottle) . Buy a bigger aquairium used at garage sales or craigs list .Read up on this before you buy your pets do homework research first .
firebellys have toxins that harm other animalsso they may not show it but your animals are not comfortable at all. the toxin gives animals a burning sensation on there skin. but do what you want
im not sure its an oregon newt...but my california newt is going on 11 years of being alive with me. i got it from a pet store as an adult in late 1999 and hes still alive! great setup!

urm im thinking of getting a newt and a tree frog in my tank if i can find where to buy them from. if i was to get them is there anything i could put at the top of my tank to stop the frog climbing out that is easy to install becasue there are holes in my lid for the filter wires what can i do

My only suggestion is that you remove the firebelly toads from the tank as they have a toxin in their skin thats harmfull to other frogs. I used to keep firebelly toads with treefrogs but the treefrogs kept getting what appeared to be like sores on their skin and wouldnt last long after until i removed the firebellies. I go to reptile shows all the time and heard it from a couple of vendors and i think i saw the info online also.

Newts eat crickets but move so slowly compared to fast frogs toads .Newts need to be given special feeding directly or removed to eat in peace or they get a bad case of the skinnies because they cant compete and will starve

Lovely set up thanks for posting this. I have had fire bellies, fire salamanders, tritons and lizards,frogs, and tree frogs. All rescued. I had heard fire belly + do not mix. I have never had any trouble. The yellow bellied toads live in France. As do all the others . Interestingly it is the lady FBT who chooses her mate and may ignore the other males .Quite funny to watch. Have managed to re-introduce 100's back into the wild. My little bit to help. So don't worry all are happy together :)

How many of them have died yet? Because the rough newts are poisonous, so are the fire bellied toads. Also they are from different areas and have different pathogens from those areas.
In theory its a problem but they are fine and have been for years . Ive been told they wont excrete posoins too much unless bitten or roghed up ,but they are at peace .

I am making a 55 gallon terrarium for a blue spotted salamander and a northern red salamander. I wanted to put some tree frogs in there too. I was thinking reed frogs. Anyone got any suggestions besides red eye tree frogs

where do you feed the tree frogs? in the land part? isn't it possible that they drown? im trying to do something like that and these are some of my questions
VERY cool setup my friend. Incredibly natural and well planted, lots of space, nice water system, and great little animals. You are one of the few on youtube who TRULY know what they're doing. Only thing that would make it cooler would be a small mist machine for a natural humidity effect.

OMG! The frog from the beginning looks just like mine. My nephew found him outside and I brought him inside the house to live! I never saw another like him till now. Do they have special names? Or are they just called tree frogs, cause there are lots of different tree frogs.

I recomend you put down something that wount rot or get moldy .I used sand and a rock /rocks.Water side shallow land side thick with sand .Moss on beach .
The guy at the pet store is paid to tell you things so you spend money at his store .Sand and rocks is a wet substrate , MOSS on top of that ,mist the moss every other day .
dont use sand for frogs at all. soil and moss is good, sand is not good for the skin for the frogs. the guy at the pet store is actually right. sand will stick to there skin .

no , they have a slight toxity to animals who bite eat them .Nothing like dart frogs . kids can hold them just wash hands , dont rub eys or pick nose wiith newt slime on.

Firebelly toads don't go swimming unless they accidentally fall in , they will catch baby fry fish by sitting still and patiently waiting for close proximity .

you should put some cover for them to hide in like moss or plants (from pet store to stop mites or something from getting in) and something to climb on

Only pick up frogs or newts with WET hands . Dry hands can cause their skin to stick to yours and it can peel rip them ,they might die from infection .
fire belly toads release toxins into the water they swim in so it could kill the other wild life in the terrarium

I am making a 55 gallon terrarium for a blue spotted salamander and a northern red salamander. I wanted to put some tree frogs in there too. I was thinking reed frogs. Anyone got any suggestions besides red eye tree frogs

They can't drown, they breathe through their skin most of the time. I don't know about toads though...

VERY cool setup my friend. Incredibly natural and well planted, lots of space, nice water system, and great little animals. You are one of the few on youtube who TRULY know what they're doing. Only thing that would make it cooler would be a small mist machine for a natural humidity effect.

Cleaning just the water rocks is easy , just water changes and siphon . Cleaning moss area is every year every other year if the mud anoys you .

OMG! The frog from the beginning looks just like mine. My nephew found him outside and I brought him inside the house to live! I never saw another like him till now. Do they have special names? Or are they just called tree frogs, cause there are lots of different tree frogs.

Its a grays or greys tree frog they are common .Many videos on them if you search. I have a black lab named Shadow best retriever in the world.

what should I do? the substrate on my tank(coconut fibre) is all wet and soggy (really soggy and wet)because i tried to put water in one corner
for now i am putting the uva and uvb light over the place so it would start drying. if you have tips, please tell me. it would be very helpful

I recomend you put down something that wount rot or get moldy .I used sand and a rock /rocks.Water side shallow land side thick with sand .Moss on beach .

dont use sand for frogs at all. soil and moss is good, sand is not good for the skin for the frogs. the guy at the pet store is actually right. sand will stick to there skin .

The pump can go through a tube and be hidden behind rocks as a water fall .You can also use a regular filter as a pump -discharge on rocks

Firebelly toads don't go swimming unless they accidentally fall in , they will catch baby fry fish by sitting still and patiently waiting for close proximity .

Only pick up frogs or newts with WET hands . Dry hands can cause their skin to stick to yours and it can peel rip them ,they might die from infection .

Picking them up is not good because they want to jump or wiggle free , they can fall and break bones or hurt internal organs -BAD IDEA .
