That is a false premise. When immigrants traveled throughout history welfare states did not exist. The only incentive to move was to better one's life by being able to find work in the new country, and because there was more freedom in the new country. With the welfare state in existence, people move for financial gain at the expense for others, and this is wrong. Immigration should return, once the welfare state is dismantled. No one should get for free what others payed for.
It isn't an all or nothing. Of course some come from the freedom, but coming from an Arab immigrant family I can assure you, the perks are very welcome. Imagine health care in Iraq vs free health care here if you are old. It is certainly an incentive. Now, if you take the cost of immigration away, IE provide welfare only for those who have payed into it (no one pays enough, I know) then it takes away that incentive. I would love more immigration for the right reasons.

The 14th ammendment was not introduced to allow anybody citizenship because they had children over a property boundary. I don't know how much clearer the truth can be. That is my valid point. That is a false premise. When immigrants traveled throughout history welfare states did not exist. The only incentive to move was to better one's life by being able to find work in the new country, and because there was more freedom in the new country. With the welfare state in existence, people move for financial gain at the expense for others, and this is wrong. Immigration should return, once the welfare state is dismantled. No one should get for free what others payed for.

My point was, in case you missed it in the translation, that the purpose of the 14th Ammendment to the United States Constitution was to ensure that newly freed slaves and their families were recognized as citizens in the new south. The 14th ammendment was not introduced to allow anybody citizenship because they had children over a property boundary. I don't know how much clearer the truth can be. That is my valid point. @mexica104 What do you think a Constitutional AMMENDMENT is? It's a CHANGE when the American people vote to AMMEND the constitution. Like when an ammendment is being used for what it wasn't intended, in this case the 14th ammendment. I'm very comfortable with the legislative process. There's only one e in Sweden. That's comming from a barbarian.

@mexica104 , Sfan985 Thanks for telling me things about the issues talked about here.I now realise I don't know much about the subject so I deleted my posts because they actually didn't make any sense at all.It is just not all so simple as I thought at first, but rather too complicated for me to comprehend.I do now understand that both the people that migrate, as well as the people who already live in that country have the right to live the best way they can.Too bad sometimes we can't have both.

The 14th ammendment to the Constitution was implemented after the Civil War to ensure the new South would not reject newly emancipated black people or their children as citizens. It's intention was not to create an avenue for people to come here illegally, have babies and call themselves citizens and reap Social Security and health programs that come with being an American. My mother's side of the family is from England and she worked hard to become a leagal citizen. Please try to argue with me.
