Hey @judge6754,What the FUCK do you think you know about Vietnam? You're a stupid Son of a Bitch if you think WE lost in Vietnam. YOU are obiviously speaking out of your ass! I was there. If you weren't you are either too old, too young, or had a daddy like Dubya Bush to keep you out on deferrment! I know one thing about you, though, just from reading some of your shit-you are definitely TOO stupid to know what you are talking about! WE didn't lose anything! The politicians did.
My father was in the 4th ID at Pleiku. He spent 2 years in Vietnam. I spent 2 years in Iraq. I finally understood a lot of the things he used to say to us kids.
I flew into Cam Rahn Bay in July, 1968, went to A-Troop, 2/1 Cav, Firebase Blackhawk. In September, 1970, I left D-Troop, 2/1 Cav to return to the states. For 2 years and 2 months, the only thing we heard, outside of Vietnam, was Wonder Dog.
Co.B,20th Engr. Bn(CBT). We were on the west side of the runway. By the luck of the draw, I had a good year. To the guys who didn't make it home, love and respect.
I spent two of my 15 months in Nam on Dragon Mt. We had two signal trucks on the Mt. for radio relay. I was with the 167th. Signal Co. (Radio Relay), 54th. Sig. Bn. We built a day room on the back of our Quonset hut. Then the 124th. Sig. and the mess hall cooks followed suit. The 4th Inf. Supplied the guards every night. Later I became the company mailman and would go to Camp Enari every other day to meet the courier plane.
@GiveMeLiberty2 h Hey Soldier...I drove truck for 4th supply and transportation, from qui nhon up through an khe pass, out to kontum, dakto, oasis, jackson hole. but i still managed to draw titty mtn guard once a month. looking back over the last 42 years that had to be one of the biggest mind fucks of my life...and i slept in the rear with the gear a good part of my tour, unlike the 11bravo who took it on the chin his whole tour. we all performed our duty the best we could..god bless everyone
@moreshittoremember "titty mtn"? Never heard that one but can see it since you mention it. lol. My company was at Engineer Hill, on the other side of Pleiku from D Mtn. I think we were safer on the Mt. with the 4th below us. Never got mortared while up there. But then again---NEVER got mortard the previous 18 mounths while in Germany!!! You are right tho...We ALL did our duty the best we could. We were young...we were soldiers. We, unlike many were lucky....we made it home with our eyes open.
Looks familiar,,, even 42 years later. Delta Co 1/14th 7/68-7/69,, anybody remember Brillo Pad ?? Dak To,,, Kontum,,, Bam ?? Thout ? 11Bravo,,only got there a total of about 9 days
I was proud to be in the 4th infantry divisioin in 1964 and 1965 before going into a 6th Army unit in North Fort before going to Vietnam in November. While in the 4th, had the opportunity to direct fire for towed 8-inch howitzers. Was on the 155's in Vietnam. We were winning when I left Vietnam in 1966.
coinsmr The Vietnam Army Nurse from the USA needs your support. Do you know any data that can support present veteran nurses getting thier benefits under the va. if so respond.
I have a freind who was at Camp Drake in Japan doing Vietnam nursing from 1965 to 1966.
The VA is not being nice to these angels of mercy.
Tell that to the soldiers that were losing their lives then. I can see you have never seen the Vietnam wall. We are proud of our Iraqui veterans, but your "LOL" comment was quite inappropriate.
@judge6754 You won the war? You're an idiot. South Vietnam was taken over by the north, America and Australia pulled out, they lost, we didn't win anything. The most futile war until the Iraq war, the US government doesn't learn its lessons.
@judge6754 It's stupid that you think the war was won, I'm sure you're not an idiot and I don't respect many people more than I respect Vietnam War vets, but it's ridiculous to think that Vietnam was won, sending troops into a foreign and different country to fight their population with no real forseeable goal is futile. That is something that should have been learnt after Vietnam, but American troops just pulled out of Iraq, a war almost identical to Vietnam and it is fucked.
I was at Camp Enari from Oct 67 to Oct 68 with the 4th MI Det

My father-in-law died at Pleiku when my wife was only 2 days old.
Her father, Bruce Grandstaff was in Company B, 1st Battalion, 8th Infantry Regiment, 4th Infantry Division.
He wrote a letter to her as a newborn just before he went out on patrol (for the last time).
She was handed the Congressional medal of Honor by President Nixon when she was 3 years old.
She would trade it back in a heartbeat for the chance to have met her father.
