@Crixuz09 rules in a match dont determine what style u can use, they determine what you can do period. U can do wing chun in a muay thai ring if u dont break the rules, u can box, kickbox, ect. Just dont break the rules. in a jujutsu match, u can use wreslting, in a wreslting match u can use jujutsu, just dont break the rules. its about rule set, in a muay thai match u can kick, punch, clinch, and sometimes knee. TKD can do all of those things, so it doesnt break the rules.

@wushuollie My opponent threw 2 or 3 punches at the start, and I threw 2 setup punches. 1 of which was interuptted by my opponent's kick. We each also threw 1 knee during the 2nd clinch, and he threw 1 upward elbow that missed on the way into the first clinch.

@k9m42 Of course that kick exists in Muay Thai. There it is called Te Glab Lang. It exists in practically any martial art that features kicks.

@EPR89 Actually MT does not utilize that kick mainly because of their fighting stance. You might be able to find it in picture on a cave wall in Thai land but fighters do not practice it (not commonly anyway). If so please show me the link, I’m curious. Being Kwonkicker has years of TKD training obviously that’s where he got it and not from his short training in MT. You can ask him though. He seams very respectful and honest.

@k9m42 This kick is supposed to be a surprise to the opponent, so your basic stance doesn't really matter that much since you have to give it up anyway. Sure, due to the longer way from the basic Muay Thai stance you don't see it as often as in TKD, but it is definitely a technique there as well. Effective techniques don't get scrapped in styles that are focused on effectiveness.

I never claimed that Micah got it from Muay Thai. Sorry if it sounded like that.

you'll find that all martial arts these days have more or less homogenized in terms of diversity of techniques, but you can't deny that tkd's strong points (in terms of ring sports) are kicks, if not timing/distancing/punches. the back kick is an example of a kick that was INVENTED by tkd. tkd even invented the kick that led to this kick, the reverse side-kick (still in use in ITF tkd).
