4-1 defeat to Middlesbrough the day before my 10th birthday, a defeat in the CL to lowly Lille to follow, this match was one that still gives me joy. Love united!
it was a very good header but i have to be honest he wasn't trying to score he was simply trying to cross it back into the box for someone else to score and luck was on his side good header Fletchy
you speak as if you are actually darren fletcher..?
I disagree - from his body position, he wasn't trying to hook the header back but guide it in to the far post.
great goal!
too many people (mainly commentators) try to judge proffesional footballers actions by their own lacking ability and presume outrageous goals are flukes..
I agree with artkandyben. If you look at the darting run that Fletcher makes prior to the cross, as well his body positioning then it's plain to see that he meant to loop it over the keeper.
The direction that your head is facing is generally where you want to ball to go, Fletcher's head was goalwards. Plus there was no one really in the box to head the ball to.
I wish United fans would give Fletcher more credit at times.
