This happen in other places, not just Pikeville. Pikeville is exclusively one place and is not the whole county. Island Creek is not Pikeville! It is Island Creek. Pikeville is a city and Island Creek is a stretch of road in the county.
Everyone in the county says they are from the City of Pikeville. That just says that you are ashamed of Elkhorn City, Greasy Creek, Island Creek, Johns Creek, Millard and all the rest. You should be proud of where you are from and get the locations right.

Anything after you pass the fire dept coming from the island creek bridge is in the county. On the other end when you are turning off from the road leading to hurricane on to cedar creek. Once you get passed Cedar Gap your are in the county.

People in Elkhorn say they are in Pikeville when they are in Elkhorn. 35 minutes from there. If you explain to people where these places are then they can better understand where you live.
