wow i was 3 years old in 85' and i remember laying with my mom watching this. This intro has been forever burned into my memory. i wish the 80s lasted longer than it did.
I won;t m,ind getting a guy who looks innocent but either really fit or muscular to play the Equalizer. The dude doesn't have to be English but have a sense of Charles Bronson in the "Death Wish" series. I would go with a guy who is in his 20's and has a face that makes him look friendly but veru cruel and callous when provoked. Can;t think of anyone who can do that honestly but I think a pro wrestler or an athelte would do nicely.
@JanetCoop: No, I don't think Victor Garber could have played Robert McCall, just like I think nobody but Victor Garber could have played Jack Bristow:-)
Back in the day when this was the show to watch, I wouldn't miss an episode! I was probably about 20 then, and nothing could drag me away from the tv set when it was on. Only Edward Woodward could have pulled off Robert McCall, nobody else!
@RacManRhythm Well I, myself, didn't start seeing this show until it was shown in syndication on the USA Network back in the late 80's/early 90's ( then it was also run on A&E for a time ). I dont believe I ever saw a single episode of it during it's initial prime-time network run in the mid 80's. I had the notion that it wasn't too popular as a prime-time network series,.. which would actualy figure because PTNW television shows sucked then for the most part ( THIS show being an exception ).
I watched this show after my daughter was born...while she snuggled next to me in bed after my c section I was watching The Equalizer..and got hooked. RIP Edward Woodward...
Wow! Really Coop? Where did Abrams say that? I loved Alias in its prime and Jack Bristow was by far my favourite character. It was always a joy watching old pros Garber and Ron Rifkin showing the others how it's done.
Thank you Mr. Woodward for the hundreds of hours of entertainment you provided. It was a joy to watch you take each role and make it your own. I also enjoyed seeing you as yourself on various talk shows. May God bless you and your family.
I agree with dave1884, somehow the Equaliser made me feel safe...it reminds me of happy times, you didn't mess with Robert McCall, he was very suave but could take care of business
Great theme too, love how it kicks in at 0.43...very cool...RIP Edward
Edward Woodward(1930-2009) Thanks for your acting. I was a college student in Norfolk , Va when it was on WTKR and I have a picture that I pulled from the local paper's TV section. Say hello to Michael Hordern, Kenneth More, Jack Hawkins for us
I was just watching this video last night and remembering what a great actor Edward Woodward was, now I wake up to find out that he has passed away... very sad.. R.I.P
He made it to the age of 79 though even after the major heart attack he had due to the stress of making The Equalizer , working 20 hours and smoking 100 cigarettes a day.
Oh isnt the music just soooooo exciting Id love to be a super hero but Im just a sad loser <8:( But if society hadnt changed and we still lusted after heros Id be right up there!!!!!
Yeah, I never quite got it until I saw the episode. Dam, I'm going back about 18 years! I was always late for school the next day cause I was up late watching that show! It was quality!
Woodward is a god. Very underated. Classic series. Working my way through the series 1 boxset and for 1985 they haven't even dated probably due to the stories and top acting. Don't want a remake but if they did who would play the equalizer? Sean Bean or Timothy Dalton for me.
It's been a "LONG" time since I've seen this show. Bt I did watch it as a very young kid and was unable to remember who played the main character. Growing up and seeing Michael Caine in other movies I just assumed it was him. Thank goodness for YouTube!
Only one word for the theme tune...LEGENDAY'!!!!!

I think if they ever do a remake of this show they should get Adrian Paul to play Mcall. He'd be perfect at it.

It took 4 A-Team guys while it took one Equalizer (and Kostmayer or Jimmy) to help people in trouble. McCall was efficient!
