I always struggle with this version, not because of the acting but becuase I find the angel character so unlikeable. Alec may have been a bad man at the start but he offers to help her, and he does atleast try to change. Even when he reverts back his feelings for tess remain the same. Angel however abandons her after his own confession is a hundred times worse. Hearing of her past troubles (especially as it was against her will) should not make him see her differently.

It made me burst out into tears as soon as Angel said "Let her sleep a moment longer." and I carried on crying 'till the end of the credits!

Stunning series and such an awesome adapation of a beautiful novel.

i cried my heart out too at end i cant stop thinking why tess stopped at stonehenge, its not real i kno but its depressing, tess was really pretty and angel was cute they wer ment to be i guess tess's sister was ok lookin lol, i cant imagin how it would feel to lose som1 u love so much then marry som1 tht resembles her, it'd remind u :( lol x

I felt so sorry for her and angel that thy could be 2getha...I thought it was a brilliant adaptation...although i have not read the book...i promised my self i wouldnt read a hardy novel coz there so depressing...

This series is in a league of it's own. For me it was miles better than all the other adaptations of classics, because in them, it's mostly upper class people prancing around their mansions, and they all get their happy endings. The acting is brilliant and the end made me cry :( Not read the book (I'm only 13 and it would probably be too difficult for me) but I loved the series! Great job, BBC! :D

The end bit of this episode when Angel is on his knees made me cry which is rare for me. I didn't know the story though because after reading a few chapters of the book I couldn't deal with Hardy's writing style even if it is a good story. Beautiful casting. The BBC do adaptations of classics so well!

i cried so much at the end of part four

i was really depressed, but its such a BRILLIANT adaptation- it really conveys the message of the book well, about the people at that time, their prejudices and views about issues like sex and rape.

all the actors did an amazing job
