I would like to have this guy next to me if I was walking in the woods and I came across a bear. He showed you don't need a gun to deal with a bear confrontation. I still stand by my opinions. There is something spiritual about proving that we can share a common essence with these animals, that we can relate, and come to an understanding. The bear cult is an ancient Indo-European religion, with evidence in such norse sagas as the saga of King Hrolf Kraki, and Bodvar Bjarki. It isn't far fetched to imagine ancient shamans would behave in this way. The NWcoast native represents one tribe in the vast expanse of north american cultures. Many shamans in native society would have done this.

@MartinaMovies he was accepted into their hierarchy for years. If you watch the documentary you'll know that the bear that killed him was a bear who was unfamiliar with him, because he was there too late into the year. The proof we share a common essence with the bears is that we're all mammals and we share a similar mammalian brain.

@YossarianTheMeerkat I've seen the documentary, probably in a different way that you did. What I saw was that those bears were living perfectly fine, but he thougt they needed help. Everytime he made contact with the bears, you could see at the bears behaviour the bear didnt like it. Besides from that, what he did was wrong. If dangerous animals like bears get used to human beings, they seek contact with other humans who dont want that. Dangerous stuff.

@YossarianTheMeerkat The same thing happend in my town with a fox. Foxes are living in the wild here but some tourists liked to feed this one fox. When the tourists left, the fox wanted food and entered our town. When nobody gave him food he got angy and dangerous. Let the wild animals be wild, and dont disturb them.

FUck everyone who relishes in his death. he is showing something spiritually profound, that we are all sentient being and capable of forming relationships across the traditional boundaries of species. What he's doing is beautiful and groundbreaking. I feel sorry for those of you can't see how special Treadwell is. He's also doing amazing things for the bear's image, and ultimately for conservation.

He was bullying young bears. He was challenging bears. And the killed him, what a relationship. He thought he was needed to save those bears, but they did not need to be saved.

He was showing the world they were willing to accept one into their hierarchy and he learned things about bears that western science alone could never have proved. He's impressive. Timothy Treadwell, he was warned repeatedly by the park service.& Bear-experts. - To his involvement with the bears was unsafe for both himself and the bears.
I know, he was crazy. But there are such people like him we need to get more knowledge. That he is not no was killed earlier by the bears was just a coincidence. But I'm dead proud of him. And for what he did for the rest of us ''normal'' people.
