No oratorspeaker, Quran has two types of verses. One type always addresses all humanity and the other people who submitted to oneness of God. You may be surprised both type are not for mere Muslims. Even in Muslim society there were dialog between those who did not believe in prophet hood of Muhammad and believed in God oneness. Also Quran continuously calls christian and Jews people of the books and not Kuffar.

There are two kind of people according to Islam."People of the Book" and "nonbelievers." Muslims consider themselve the followers of God's true uncorrupted message, but other theists (like christians and jews) are provided the same freedom and rights as muslims. Though in practice many muslim nations don't follow this rule.
Athiests would fall into the category of nonbeliever, and therefore according to the Qur'an, could be executed. I should say I learned this from University and am not muslim

Also, Muslims have historically contended that Hindus, budhists and others are "nonbelievers" and therefore should have no protection under the law and can be executed (for instance, Bahais are being executed in Iran because they are not people of the book).
Islam's view on slavery are really up for grabs- some say the Qu'ran condones it, others vehemently point to "proof" in the Qur'an where it shows its wrong. In my opinion it can be interpreted either way.

There's the Army of God, a terrorist anti-gay, anti-abortion and pro-Catholic religion group that justifies killings in the name of God. The only problem with this is that Islam places the act of capital punishment in the subjective hands of each individual. Furthermore it defines so many things as "horrendous crimes" that it's no wonder the religion breeds what the rest of the world sees as cold blooded killers. Even if they do so in the name of Allah, how can you claim that Islam is the religion of peace when the Koran demands so much death? What you mean to say is that Islam is the religion of peace only for the Islamic.

Please don't put words in my mouth, you know that's unadvisable. Also, whenever I hear someone go: "Allah!" and go attack someone/something, I get disgusted. Not because of them, but because they say that Allah will reward them for what they do. I'm pretty sure that that's not true. I doubt Allah would want innocent people to get hurt. It's 2008, the muslims know they keep a balance between the law, and Islam.

I was not putting words in your mount in the sense that you said that. All I am saying is that your view of Islam as I see it, a moderate one, does not adhere to the FULL text of the Koran. Keep in mind that I don't fault you for that at all. I'm glad you take a more modern liberal view, but it can't be denied that the Koran, just like all religious texts is full of contradictions. In one part it will advocate acting peacefully to those who mean no harm, and in another demand death to infidels.

The only way you can reconcile that contradiction is to add the caveat, if another Islamic person means you no harm then harm them not. Otherwise, if everyone who is not Islamic is an Infidel who is charged to death by the Koran, how can you have peace with an Infidel who means you no harm? Please don't feel singled out though, If you haven't guessed, I have a problem with all religions that claim to know the will and commands of a god or that a god even has a will that it wishes to impose.

Notice that most every statement you used has an if/or structure, so violence & murder are justified under the right circumstances. In this light violence/suicide is a virtuous/encouraged tool justified by Allah. You just happen to be blinding yourself from the obvious situations in which murder would be acceptable. If you were to read with only basic reading comprehension in mind, you would see that the "word of Allah" is always situational, meaning if the antithesis of the situation were true the killing would be just.
