How to tell a REAL MAC pigment from a FAKE one

Thankyou for this video. I also bought a mac pigment from ebay called Honesty. I checked the mac website and there is no such pigment called Honesty. DO you know if there is a mac pigment called honesty or not?

Omg thank you so much for this video!!! I just bought 3 Mac pigments for $20 and used them once then wondered..... Hmmm not like my other ones when I used them. And this video determined that they were a knock off and contacted eBay and got my money back too!!!!!! Still got to keep the pigments though they weren't that bad, just no Mac!! Two things that I ALWAYS do when buying pigments on ebay is 1. buy from only powersellers and top rated sellers and 2. Always ask the seller to take a picture of the bottom of the pigment & of the box.

I once got fake "silver fog" pigment from ebay, I got it and it was actually a metallic blue shade that looked eerily similar to Loreal's Hip Pigment in "Valiant", it had the same plastic disc or similar one to the one the authentic mac pigments have (not that weird circular thing!) and didn't smell bad, surprisingly enough, the color is actually quite pretty on the lid, but of course doesn't have the wear that the mac ones do even with a base, I have since brought the real silver fog

I went to a flea market, which is pretty good to find some real drugstore brand makeup for cheap and un-used

but never ever trust a vendor with MAC at a flea market, yea it's cheap but it sucks. The pigments have this retarded plastic thing inside, just like you showed. Also fake MAC pigments have numbers instead of names. and don't be fooled by the "Back to MAC" written on the flap when you open the box.

I understand the issue with selling fake mac products is more about integrity than quality.

but at the end of the day, you just want your eyeshadow to look good, and your getting a nice deal.

sooo its understandable that someone would be upset about getting jipped, but if the product is half decent and you got a good deal, its no big. look on the bright side :)

The problem is that the fake shadows would have undergone little or no testing meaning that the toxicity levels could be very scary. Thats really not something I want to put anywhere near my eyes, let alone anywhere else x

omg, today i got 54 different colors of mac pigments that i ordered from ebay, and some of them not all had that little hole instead of the lid and none of them had the name color on them, i payed 120$ for all of them. i really like the colors but now that i watch this i dont know what i should do about it, do you have to return the fake figment to get ur money back? because i took all the little papers that come inside each one of them.

there is alot of real mac on ebay too! i have a few sellers i always order from and i get great deals and the profuct is real!! you need to watch for some things tho! always read the feedback! if the color isnt listed ASK also ask for the batch code, ask if the bar code stickers are printed or stuck on, ask for more pics as well, a seller with genuine items wont have any prolems answering your questions!

What tips do you have for ebay shopping for pigments? I know you can read the seller's feedback, but other people who have bought may not know they got ripped, so that's not always truthful. I know it's best to just go to the store (or order online in my case, since I don't have a store nearby) but I was just wondering. Thanks for the video and your help.

There are a few things you should look for like-If there is no name of the colour listed. For example if it just said 'blue' and not a real MAC colour like 'Bellbottom Blue'. Also be careful if theres no box shown in the picture. If there's no sticker in the top right hand corner on the top of the box then thats another warning sign. Also remember that if the price is too good to be true then it probably is!If you're getting it at a reaaaaaly discounted price then the chances are that it's fake!
