  • thank you for the upload, its been years since someone stole this album from me. One objective of The Final Cut was to promote the Gunner's Dream "take heed of the dream", and yet "night after night, this dream is driving me insane". The Wall ends with a bleak, morose view of mankind's future, and Final Cut whispers the possibility, maybe even hope, that we are not destined to destroy each other, that we can choose another possible future, and fight to build rather than destroy.

  • This album came out the year I was in basic training for the army still love it, and always will

  • can you put up the times? :c

  • fuck all that we got to get on with this

  • FUCKING EXCELLENT ALBUM

  • Keep the Falkland Islands British

  • EPIC sax solo at 17:00

  • This is, for all intents and purposes, The Wall Part II.

  • I was surprised when "when the tigers broke free" popped up. I've the original album which didn't include that song. It fits perfectly here and really helps tie this album to "The Wall."

  • @dcobranchi Me too! Is that a special edition or something?

  • @shkeni They re-mastered "The Final Cut" in 2004 and added "when the tigers broke free."

  • Here's my opinion (because I'm so important); Pink Floyd was the best from 72-79 when all of the members collaborated to write the music and lyrics, especially Waters and Gilmour. However, I think that a Gilmour dominated Pink Floyd, like AMLOR, is better than a Waters dominated one. Don't get me wrong, I like Waters and the Final Cut, but to me, It's not really a PF progressive/space rock album like all of the others after 72. That, and I find it a bit whiny because I'm right wing. Still great.

  • @MrPingasPower Actually, Waters wrote pretty much all of their music while Barrett was gone, until Waters left the band. Also, 72-79 was NOT the only time they all colaborated together to write. They ALL participated, the entire time they were there. About it not being progressive space-rock, that's not what Pink Floyd's about. Sure, that's what they're most recognized for, but if you listen, much of their stuff is blues, along with stuff like this.

  • @MrPingasPower You also say you consider this album whiny. This album is Waters' tribute to his father, whom he never got to know. This album is a grown man crying. If you have a problem with people showing emotion in music, listen to something modern. Otherwise, stop criticizing great music. Scratch that, stop criticizing WONDERFUL music.

  • bingo

  • 'Bravery of Being out of Range' > 'Not now John'

  • which one's Pink?

  • Az egyik legjobb Pink Floyd alkotás!!!

  • Pink Floyd's best album.

  • the beginning of this song often makes me think of kermit singing in the swamp. not a shot at roger, or kermit for that matter. i'm going to see the wall in 124 days!

  • I can't stop listening to this album. It's deeply, deeply brilliant! Definitely an underrated L.P. for the Floyd!

  • Superb, just wonderful music! Is this the same outfit that came up with the magnificent Animals. The Wall, Obscured by Clouds, Dark Side of The Moon albums? Just to name a few. Who are Waters, Gilmour, Barret?

  • @samawy2011 To answer your questions... No. This is not the same Pink Floyd as Animals and The Wall, and Obscured by Clouds. This album is actually a Pink Floyd cover band that usually goes under the name "Same Outfit." Waters, Gilmour, and Barret are three guys who work over at the 7-11.

  • @paulc4567 Thank you Paulo for taking the time to answer. This is a very very good cover band then. Impressive. The 7 - 11 must be a great place to experience music. Anyway, this is just superb magnificent music, wonderfull. Thanks to the person who uploaded it.

  • @samawy2011 You're welcome. If you have anymore questions let me know.

  • @paulc4567 I must say that the powerful drums do remind me of Nick Mason and those smooth keyboards do sound like Wright who is no longer with us. Mmmmm....

  • @samawy2011 Nick Mason? Wright? Never heard of them. Who are they?

  • @paulc456 That is what I mean. Pin Floyd was 5 people at any given time. Not just its leader. I see this outfit as a group of musicians not just the mind of a single person. People here seem to have forgotten that it was actually 5 people who came up with this album. One of them is unfortunately no longer with us but his music lives on. Pink Floyd's creativity, sound and music are bigger than any of its members.

  • @samawy2011 Dude. Your whole series of comments are making my head spin. Your first comment sounded like something a person with brand new ears would ask, and by the last comment, well, I just have no idea what you're saying. You say you know that PF was 5 guys at any given time. Before that post, you state that you love Mason and Wright, and before that, in your first post you claim to have no idea who Waters Gilmour and Barret are. Are you fucking with me? You make zero sense.

  • @samawy2011 And before you answer my last question, keep in mind you are one more dopey comment away from being blocked. I have a hard time dealing with people who aren't that bright.

  • @samawy2011 No Rick Wright, not even close!

  • one of the greatest albums ever in my opinion. The TRACK, The Final Cut, is one of my favs on this album actually

  • I must have added about 200 views to this video >.>

  • This is basically a Waters solo album. I really liked Gilmore in Floyd but only when he was under the instruction of Roger. It seems that since Gilmore was Syd's replacement, he thought he was going to be the new leader. David always tried to compete with Roger. Also, David has said he doesn't care too much for this album or even The Wall. Mainly because he thought 'there was too much singing', A.K.A. I'm an attention whore and I want people to only notice me in the songs.

  • I agree with above, this was Waters album hell Rich was gone, to me a huge part of Floyd. Sure, Mason's drums and Gilmore's guitars there, but as much as I love it this truly was the final cut of what was left of PINK. Roger Waters lyrics are GREAT and will always be one of my favs. I love it, this has When the Tigers Broke Free, always wondered where to find it from the Wall movie, not on my Final Cut album.

  • @jczother yeah, but then waters left and gilmour managed to keep mason with him and brought Rick back and did exactly want they had done 20 years earlier when they had to let Syd go...picked right up and kept going...i haven't got around to animals and the syd barett era yet but eventually. All around, i love pink floyd no matter who leads, waters or gilmour.

  • @serban031 Animals was the LP before the wall, also lyrics of Waters. I would say that's when they were turning into the there final era, a great one! Animals is one of my favorite Floyd's, Everything after the Final Cut I do not consider Pink Floyd, Gilmore did sing 2 on the wall... Not much into the Syd Barrett era Floyd, bit cheesy...

  • I love how people keep arguing in every single Pink Floyd upload on who's best Gilmour, Roger or fuckin Syd Barrett . Why don't we just say that the three of them are just great musicians and get over it ?

  • im with u man...i just love the music....hehe....and haveing cones at 4 in the morning and replying to someones comment on here ..hehe...go sid i mean dave sorry i ment roger...hehe

  • Comment removed

  • ARGH, Roger created the band with Mason, Barret and Wright, R.I.P. Gilmore was added as a REPLACEMENT. So for Roger to have more "say" is only normal it was more his project more than anyones, Gilmore came into an already made band, might I add he came in at the best time. Just before their commercial boom. And like AC/DC, Gilmore and Johnston(AC/DC)both added major sparks to the fire of the band in a good way. I'm not hating I LOVE Floyd both ways, but Roger is the Creator of Floyd to me ;- }

  • @WhySoManyIdiotsNow i agree that roger is the creator and im not arguing with you at all, but the music as a whole would not give the same feeling it does without david gilmour's style of guitar playing and his god-like voice. as much as i love syd barrett, he would not have taken them to such heights as David did. in fact every band member since syd left was a key element to the most beautiful thing to ever happen to music and life. even syd was a key element even when he was not present.

  • Aaah ! pinkfloyd the audio equivalent of a stolen summer afternoon in the Pub beer garden with a great book and three pints of smooth creamy guiness and no-one to bother you. bliss

  • @TheAirconandy Lovely picture you painted - sounds like bliss to me (with me it's four pints and a good cigar).

  • This is in my opinion the best PF album. It has always held a special place in my heart for over 20 years now.

  • I enjoy The Final Cut, then again i like pros and cons and radio chaos so it's a no brainer i dig it, you dig?

  • I like the album very much. But it is in my opinion the last Roger had to say. I mean he didn't evolve any further. His genius musical mind (set the controls for the heart of the sun e.d.) came more and more under influence of his personal anger. Somehow there was no escape from there. He didn't manage to come over it and start something completely new. That's a pity, but on the other hand did he leave us with such a rich treasure of beautiful music, so I forgive him.

  • @ewoutvm1 really? I think Amused to Death was pretty amazing no? I respect your opinion friend. I feel maybe with the exception of Radio Chaos the real Pink Floyd had Eric Clapton and Jeff beck in it ;)

  • My favorite Floyd album!!!

  • i dont know why people are bitching about the fact that it is mostly Waters singing on the album and that is why it is a "bad album". Well look at Dark Side of The Moon, it was a majority of Gilmour singing although Waters wrote alot of the material and are you going to call that a bad album as well? Although not my favorite floyd album I still cannot talk down on it The Final Cut still hits me deep inside just as any other PF album and makes me think about life in way that no other music does

  • i know a lot ...

  • By the way, this album syncs up with A Clockwork Orange pretty sweet

  • Roger Waters is the Steve Jobs of Pink Floyd, nay Rock Music.

  • this is music that the more you listen to it the more you like it

  • I always thought not now john was a wierd single to put out. I think it may have contributed to the subdued reaction to an otherwise very good album.

  • Well, what the fuck is this? I spent 36 minutes listening to Roger when Dave comes in and says "Fuck all that". Who the fuck should I listen?

  • It´s the most underrated Floyd´s album ever! And it´s fucking brilliant!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • After hearing about Sean Penn's fail today, I had to come looking for this. Thanks for making it easy to listen to the whole thing.

  • in my opinion (and only in my opinion) the best Floyd Album along with The wall

  • @mauronaviglio Thats quite surpising, because a lot of people think this ablum is the worst out of all them. I don't know why I like all their albums. They are unique to many bands :D

  • @HellomynameisN there's a lot of people which love The Wall album, and sometimes exactly the same people say "I hate The Final cut album, it's a crappy album". I really don't understand this!Cause if you listen "Final cut" with due attention(possibly with headphones) you'll find that it has a lot of things in common with The Wall album. In some ways You could call it "The Wall 2". Add to this: wonderful orchestral parts, beautiful melodies, Gilmour at the highest levels, awesome songwriting.

  • @mauronaviglio All this talk is to say that The Final Cut is an often overlooked album only because it is listened to with so many prejudices, tied to the person of Roger Waters and his domineering attitude (especially in this album)

  • What is your favorite Pink album?

  • @Nagnets Handsdown "The Wall" most likely from the movie. The revolutionary hammers!

  • Thanks to the impetuousness of youth I have delicious Pink to discover 30 years later. 'In 82 I gave it half a listen and said this sucks. This is choice.

  • instrumental in fletcher memorial hone is absolutely mind blowing...turn it up...oh my god!!!!!

  • sinking behind the holicost day again!

  • With Waters!

  • Come on.!

    One more Album.

  • This has to be one of the best albums i have ever heard . Love love love it !!

  • this is ... by far ... their best album. lyrics, sounds, feeling in your chest you get when you hear it all. this is one of the few albums that has followed me since first hearing it in high school; i never let it leave me (when most fall by the wayside from overhearing, etc). i love how each masterpiece flows into the next. the sax, speechless. the imagry as he seeps under my skin and rests his words.

  • Yes! Final Cut tour please? maybe even just a Poll for it?

  • @VictorStrumpit no doubt!!! i'd love to see this album played entirely live! Waters can play Amused to Death for the first set then this album for the 2nd set!

  • GREATEST BAND ALIVE!!!!

  • OP, might want to point out that this is the 2004 re-release, not the original 1983 version.

  • @leonakita This album is really brilliant if you don't look at it like that, and hell yeah he was nuts, but the kind we enjoyed on the wall. Gilmour is on here too :) and even though I continue to profess my undying love for Gilmour, I think band guys (knowing band guys, in general) get pissed off when someone else in the band tries to do all the writing.

  • @WhatSaysJane fair enough...i just recall how pissed i was when i bought this and it turned out to be basically a Waters solo effort littered with his political muse and posturing rather than the remarkable PF writing i had come to expect... more disappointment than anything... At present, I'm listening to all seldom spun PF albums again to insure that 'i got it right'... thanx for your reasonable response!

  • @leonakita I can see that! My mom played this for 3 years, so I came to love it a LOT. :)

  • I believe this album even challenges The Wall in Pink Floyd greatness. I have had a vinyl copy of this, a tape copy, a cd, and I will purchase the newest technology. This is the kind of music that new technology is developed for! These guys have had a serious influence on my way of thinking and I can't imagine being without them.

  • If Waters plays this album in concert I would be first in the row..

  • didn't they expect us to treat them with any RESPECT?!

  • Do you remember me?! How we used to be? Don't you think we should be closer??

  • This is good, but it's more like "roger waters with pink floyd" than Pink Floyd

  • @papher51 thats because it is

  • Argentina Argentina Argentina ٩(×̯×)۶

  • @maltesejoe Galtierie took the union jack lmao

  • Just then the phone rang, I never had the nerve... to make the final cut.

  • I wish I could listen to every "album" of theirs(PF), in sucsession every waking day of me life! :D

  • The Fletcher Memorial Home will be needing an annex or two by now; it’s nearly thirty years since Roger wrote this. What a fantastic album. I’ve had a copy since its release date and could never tire of it.

  • Genius Album. They don't make them like this anymore.

Saw Roger Waters perform The Wall last year, the man is simply a legend.

  • they disenbarked in 45'

  • @68slipnot ...and no one spoke and no one smiled.

  • EPIC beyond compare

  • My favorite album ever. Floyd speaks to us...... don't you agree?

  • what a brilliant masterpiece

  • Is anyone here going to listen to The Post-War Dream while watching The Iron Lady?

  • @Bowtiesaresocool

I'll give it a go! Maybe as part of the celebrations when she draws her last breath.

  • @IvanTheReasonable Okay then.

  • one bastard son born from an americn airforce guy who may have or may not have been killed in ww2, leads to a grandson wondering what could have been, George Brow are you dead or just old and wondering

    The power of floyd eh?????????

  • wheres the fucking bar john

  • @arsenalgooner20 not now john

  • Sooooooooooo Genial!!!! Absolut Amazing!!! :-D

  • Dear "paulc" . . Thank you so much for posting this!!

I had forgotten how much I love it. Especially the sax playoff at the end.

    Best wishes . . . Chris.

  • track 4 is especially moving. having not known loss from war, at least not in the 2nd or 3rd degree, I find this song especially compelling in my resilience against war of any kind.

  • OH MAGGIE! Maggie, what can we do?

  • Waters a man from another world ......

  • The Gunners Dream gives me chills

  • Why fucking underrated? This album is brilliant.

  • I believe that Waters father was killed at Anzio. Killing fields was at Kampuchea, but i still believe that for soldiers in WW II, Anzio was the killing fields, like the battle of the Bulge and Arnhem. This album is timeless, Kampuchea, Arnhem of Anzio. Killing fields of an area we never must forget. This is what this album is about. And that's why it is the best album of PF

  • A complete repudiation of the Thatcher era in the U.K.

    Understandably vicious.

Yes, it's anti-war, but it's also a lament for the 'Real' England that was truly ending when this was released.

But, what the hell do I know - I'm American...

    Just my 2 pence.

  • I don't really consider this a full fledged "Pink Floyd" album because of Gilmour's lack of involvement in the writing and production. But, it is a really heavy, though fantastic, album . . . IMO. Lyrically, it is masterful. Just beautiful to tears at times.

  • @ctriamimgons thank god Gilmour kept out of this!! Its a master piece!!

  • Pink Floyd...circa 1988...Brendon Byrne Arena, New Jersey...3rd row...the sultry Italian backup singer winked at me...to the back drop of the music...Pink Floyd.

  • FUCK ALL THAT!

  • @WhatSaysJane the gunners dying words on the intercom,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, floating down my grandad was an american gunner in ww2 cuts me this one, even though i never knew him pink floyd you should never die

  • @WhatSaysJane Jane said " are we serious you treat me like a rag doll" "Fuck all that we gotta get on with this"!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @SALAMONSTA Fuck alllll that!

  • This kicks my ass every time.

  • I love Pink Floyd and this is by FAR my favorite album. Strange though, Ive listened to the album 1000 times and I dont remember "When the Tigers Broke Free" on it. Was it added to a later release of the album?

  • @LeppeeJ Yes, I believe it was the 2004 re-release. It's that little gem that floated from album to album. It was supposed to be on The Wall but the band felt it was too personal, it was still in the movie though. It then popped up on Echoes and then on The Final Cut re-relase. I think it fits in nicely.

  • I FUCKING LOVE PINK FLOYD!

  • @StephanDanielB You got it right my friend!

  • the best album

  • Their last good album...

  • defenately my favourite pink floyd album..

  • Can't stop playing this album. It may not be the typical Floyd we all know and love but it is a masterpiece. Brothers in Arms is a song that tugs at the futility of war. This goes deeper and opens up many threads of Death, loss and the 'glory' of war Waters is not afraid of letting it all out, which in my opinion is a great thing. Maybe because I am and ex soldier and know of war and loss, or maybe I love a good tune? Many thanks for the upload.

  • And a group of anonymous meatpacking glitterati

  • Is Gilmore even on this record??!!! WTF!

  • Still remember the lyrics since 1984 :o)

  • @paulc4567 The links are useful to know which song we are listening to. A music album is different from a book ;)

  • Comment removed

  • @paulc4567 I agree with you, but I think having the names of the tracks and the start times does not impede you to listen from begging to end. It would give me the opportunity to relate each song with it's name, and listen only to something specific if I don't have time for the whole thing. I think that is why they broke the album into songs and bothered to find a name for each one :)

  • Links to the start of each song would be greatly appreciated.

  • the central theme is the human condition - pain, suffering, loneliness, disappointment, death, and hope despite all this.

  • Mother of God...

  • Perfect name for the last album.

  • my favorite pieces are:

    Amused to Death

    The Final Cut

Granchester Meadows, If, Breathe (incl. all of Music from the Body variations and all the softer acoustic Solo/Floyd pieces from all the earlier albums)

Newer basically unpublished pieces - Kill a child, Flickering flame, Hello(I love you), etc.

    When the Wind Blows

    The Wall

    Wish You Were Here

    Animals

  • I have never been so eager to be sad.

  • Not only is this band the most beautiful and expressive band ever to walk this earth, there just as haunting. If you really listen youll hear things which you would normally never hear.

My favourite band ever and always will be.

  • Tony, what have we done ... to England?

  • Do they still kill the children???

  • OK - just read through all the comments and found out that this was remastered in 2004 with 'tigers' as an addition. Thanks to earlier commentators.

  • I bought the CD of this album in 1985 and have loved it ever since. I knew every song and every lyric by heart. By far my favourite Floyd Album (Wish you were here comes second). Now I have just discovered for the first time that the song 'when the tigers broke free' was also on this album as well. The CD I bought (in the UK) never included this song - does anybody out there know why it was removed?

  • @paauulwood it was in the Movie The wall was supposed to be on the album also they added the song later when they remastered .

  • Lire le livre écris par Masson !! Vous saurez tout ou presque sur ce groupe mythique.

  • @ ProngsStenberg Yes, it was IN the movie, it wasn't ON "The Wall"

  • i overlooked this album for years ..boy was i wrong

  • @MrBayle96 Do not overlook Pros And cons by rog either great album with him and clapton playing for him

  • When The Tigers Broke Free, really should have been on "The Wall". Great tune.

  • @rolieyo It was in the movie

  • @rolieyo It's in the movie
