@SexJunkle It wasn't made by Eon productions or the Bond producers it didn't have a gunbarrel or proper opening title sequence and Sean connery looked too old to be bond plus it had none of the original cast in it also Octopussy that came out the same year which was the Official bond film was much better its more of a comedy if you look at it as a film on its own anyway.
I still don't know how I feel about this movie. But the bad chick reminded me a bit of Xenia Onotop from Goldeneye, what with he wanting to screw the guys before she kills them. She actually looked a bit like her too.
and one of the producers (uncredited) was Talia Shire who was well known as Mrs Balboa in the Rocky films who was married to the main producer Jack Schwarzman
it took six years of court cases to get this 1983 Bond film off the ground and i read in a Bond book that a large chunk of the budget had been spent on legal fees
If they remake Thunderball or Never Say Never Again in videogame form, the players are forced to the hostage scenario at hardest level for the same number of times Bond failed until the opening scene where he does get to the final goal and player has to button smash quickly to react again the final enemy. Of course, some players don't want Daniel Craig's face on the player's video character.
@Mythteller I hate to say it, that would be AMAZING. I would give my left kidney for a really kitschy, open-world James Bond game, with Sean Connery's young face like they did in From Russia With Love. Have him or some really good impersonator record some classic lines, let you jetset around the world to all the locales Bond has gone in the films. THAT would be the greatest game of all time.
@driano80 I've been looking for at least 2 years...nothing. I've heard it's available on some over seas releases. I havent been able to find anything. The trumpet solo at the end makes this song. I even checked the Herb Alpert catalog.
@diradin Yes. As a result of the dispute over Thunderball, one of the screenwriters, Kevin McClorey, was granted certain screen rights to the novel's plot, story and characters. This is because Ian Fleming's novel, Thunderball, was based on a screenplay that Fleming, Jack Whittingham and McClorey had been collaborating on for months, without the permission of the other two.
I wasn't a fan of this movie, but when I first saw Connery on screen during the training exercise scene at the beginning, and when he was all tuxed up, I couldn't help but think that he still had what it took to be bond.
this may be just me however I this is one of the best Bond films fuck Moore Sean will always be bond I look at the James bond films as a trilogy to me it goes Goldfiner Dimands are forever and Never Say Never Again think about it Sean retires at the end it couldnt be a more perfect way to end my trilogy I also Love the Daniel Craig films so Iook a those as prequals to my trilogy I might just be alone on this but I think it cool to look att he films like that
This movie is fairly entertaining as just a typical action movie starring Sean Connery but not that great as a Bond movie. That being said it is better than Die Another Day which is an official Bond film.
Certain aspects of the film were better than Thunderball such as Klaus Maria Brandauer as Largo and Barbara Carrera as Fatimah Blush but otherwise not a patch on Thunderball. The end battle is piss poor compared to Thunderball. They could have staged an underwater battle with divers getting speared and blown up.
awesome film, one thing made me hate it. NO FUCKING GUNBARREL!! im trying to get one of thunderball or something but i dont know how to copy stuff froms dvds onto other dvds :/
I remember when I was In the Hospital for two days for surgery and I requested Goldfinger, Diamonds Are Forever, and Never Say Never Again... I know its not a "Technical" Bond Film, but it's as a real Bond movie as can be...
@plykshow I think this film has been judged unfairly because of that sole reason - it's OK, but not up to the standards of Sean Connery's earlier Bond works, since it's a remake of Thunderball.
@SPeacock You are 100% right, i think this movie was more a thank you too Sean Connery. Saying no matter your age like the Excalibur he referred to in the movie after all this time, it still looks good and is in mint condition.
@TGamersFB Never Say Never again was produced by a different studio than the "official" Bond movies. The guy who co-wrote Thunderball sued and won the rights to use that story and he was able to revise it and create Never Say Never again with Sean. That's why the opening gun barrel and Bond theme and reocurring cast don't appear. It's still a GREAT Bond movie and one of my personal all-time faves. You should buy it and check it out!
@TGamersFB Because this movie wasn't filmed by Albert R. Broccoli Productions. It was made by another production company, therefore it wasn't considered an official Bond Movie
look i love music and i love herb alpert i didnt know at one point this was his wife and i was kid when i first got hip to this movie and then the song, anyway the song invokes something inside me and i start to dance and well it that type of song , while in bed you can do this lmao( serious) this sax it s what sets it off!! imagine the tightest hardest most passionate level of love making you can get on or should be on while having sex!! just listen and let it take you.....
I love this song. I didn't care much for the movie, or Thunderball (which it ripped off), but the song is great. In case you don't know, her name is Lani Hall, and she's married to Herb Alpert. He's performing the trumpet in the song. A shame this song didn't receive a wide release, it's a classic and it does fit the Bond feel.
The music to this movie was written by a great pianist and song-writer - Michel Legrand. He also wrote Windmills of Your MInd, How do you keep the music playing, Where is it written, and many, many others.
i believe never say never again to be the worst bond movie ever made. it wasn't even made by M.G.M. or United Artists, and is such a bad rip off of the thunderball story, particlarly the part with the villian named LARGO who has a YATCH steals two NUCLEAR WARHEADS and tries to hold the world hostage. and in the process bond steals largo's girl, which is nearly a mirror image of thunderball....
Although it wasn't an official bond film it still had a good story plenty of action and was well worth watching with sean connery back in the role ... Not to mention Kim Basinger was hot!
