@Sketiks mac book pro for travel and games , i have imac and i love it but for travel mac book pro , but if you dont travel and you want a desktop , then imac or mac pro ;)
I want a MacBook Air. I'm not sure though. I will need it for travel, gaming (not much), and school and stuff. Can someone tell me which one is best for me? (It has to be a laptop)
I am getting a mac but i dont know if i should get a laptop or iMac because i like big screens and the iMac has better speakers it also has other excellent features i just don't know what i should get what would you recommend?
@MrAppleFever you compromise for portability. iMacs are great for people who need a lot of power for the lowest price, macbook airs are just crap unless you will be flying every week. macbook pros give you the best laptop but you should get the i7 macbook pro 13" for power and portability. hope this helped :)
i have a mid 2010 white MacBook: 2.4GHz, 2GB of RAM and i have installed Mac OS X 10.7(Lion) and it has slowed down for me!!! Im a high school student and it suits my needs! I love it! I have not run into any problems with this computer! As in matter of fact, I'm typing this comment with my MacBook! GREAT video!!!
I will never buy a apple desktop. I like opening the case and updating it my self. For instance, today i upgraded from 4GB of DDR3 RAM to 8GB of DDR3 RAM for only 35 bucks.
(and no, money is not a problem. Its a gaming PC, that's easily worth over 1k)
hey i love your videos. im a rather pro movie maker i make films in my hometown i just released a zombie movie that i edited on sony vegas using a pc laptop, i have done research and decided that and imac 21 inch with fcp would be goof for my movie editing did i make a good choice? i have not recieved it yet im awaiting christmas
The problem with the imac is that its much harder to replace hard drive or any updates you want to do. The advantage with mac mini / pro is that you can very easily replace stuff in case you want more specs / something fails
*gasppps* why would you spend literally millions of dollars on simethingg that windows can do for just 100 dollors more maybe less. Thre like 500-600 dollors instead of 3 million just sayin :)
@agoodday2011 I don't know what rock you live under but you need to crawl out from underneath it. Macs don't cost "millions" of dollars, they don't even cost hundreds of thousands. For a general consumer it'll cost between $599 and $1599. The best selling are $999 and are nothing in comparison to anything else on the market. For you to say something so outrageous just tells me how ignorant you are. Its fine to that you don't like the Mac, but you can't just make statements like that.
@agoodday2011 It's only up to the customer whether they want to pay a little more for a better experience and better apps. Yeah sure you can web browse and use Adobe CS, but a Mac boils down to more than just price and software.
@justicesword1 for students macbook is more intuitive and standard approch then having pc. Passing viruses along with USB or bluetooth is way more common in windows laptop then with macbook which can cost you big time.
I'm looking to switch to a Mac, and since I need a laptop, I just can't decide between the 13 and 15. I'm happy with the 13's specs, but I think I might regret buying such a small screen (I don't see myself buying an external monitor).
You make a good point that if one only has one computer, 15's sort of the sweet spot. Augh, decisions!
@fleetfooted I had 15 inch laptop during my college days , I can assure you its a way to go if you don't want external display. Just have a good carry bag.
@justicesword1 Actually.... no it wouldn't. XP is outdated. Outdated meaning Microsoft is no longer providing updates to support newer technologies. So all it gets for updates is security related updates. If you get a laptop, get Windows 7.
True, they can. It is a far less likely occurrence (in the way of viruses) because the actual userbase is smaller therefore making a virus/trojan/worm for Mac's isn't as profitable.
MAC PRO FOR EDITING? GET REAL! the best you could get is a PC with an i990X Extreme Processor (3.43 Ghz OC to about 7GHz with extreme OC) with 4 way Crossfire Nvidia GTX 590'S graphics cards, and 24GB of RAM @ 1666MHz watercooled in a Cooler master HAF X case with a 240GB flash -MAIN BOOT- drive, and multiple 3TB data drives @ 7200-10,000 RPM all on an XL ATX type motherboard. hooked up to 8 monitors running 1920x1080 - 2560x1440 res w/ Corsair gaming speakers....... Mac pro... you were pwned
@joseph88897 mac is severely overpriced pc runs more programs mac cant Most of the world's most popular games are available only on a PC. And Macs can't connect to an Xbox 360. PCs are ready to play. Many PCs running Windows 7 are designed to connect directly to TVs, so you can watch movies and see photos on the big screen. Most Macs can't hook up to your TV unless you buy an adapter.
@agoodday2011 I am using both, and my PC crashes, hangs, get virus(even after having Norton), file get corrupted, I have to take good care of cooling(I got v6 cm fan) ect. lot and lot of issues, I prefer paying 400$ more to avoid years of problems. Forget about good packaging , macbook is way better designed inside and cause no problem at all, my baseline macbook is more reliable then high end PC. Macbook+Time Capsule+External Display+wireless mouse+wireless keyboard+bookarc (best setup).
@kickassdj if you get viruses i recommend getting a better software such as advast free antivirus super anti spyware, some of your problems might be related on what kind of hardware you have and how old the computer is. mac can get viruses and crash, but its most likely to happen on a PC. in my opinion mac is overpriced, but the prices for PC depend on the make and the version of windows you have. the new windows 8 is supposed to be immune to viruses
@agoodday2011 you see, thats the problem , I get that many advices but non works, its been 15 years I am using pc , belive me I tried everything and before I got mac I use to belive this is how comp behave, but once I tried mac , I get 10 times less problems.
@kickassdj well not all PCs have problems i have a dell inspiron windows 7 and the only problem i have is that its a dell so far no problems with windows or viruses
@agoodday2011 hardware and software aren't as tightly build as apple make them. Windows on apple computers are more stable than on any other vendor provide. I tried assembled, Lenovo, Hp, my brother got dell & sister got sony vaio. Each one of them had issues with virus, most common cause were infected USB or via internet, There were several driver related issues as well, prior to leopard I used xp then vista, but vista had issue of slowing down on use, even with xp some crazy virus were there.
@agoodday2011 I don't mind paying 400$ extra to minimize my problem. PC running windows with good virus protection isn't equivalent to OS X in terms of user experience. For those who work 7-9hrs/day on computer, that means a lot. Its not that expensive in long run, considering mac's durability and resell value(due to that). I got mac mini since 2007 and its still working like charm, while my 2008's pc lost its integrated display (had to buy a pci graphic card).
@agoodday2011 Well most of us don't buy computer to connect that to Xbox or TV. Its not standard requirement for most of us, you can know that by sales stats. But you can easily install Win 7 Home premium via bootcamp on Mac and get connectivity to your xbox over wifi + now a days wifi coming with tv(or get external adapter) to connect with any TV. Even having adaptor is no big deal for thing which we don't require daily, its better than buying pc with that inbuild.
Respond to this video... With PCs running Windows 7, you can play the video and music stored on your home PC while you're on the go, for free. Apple charges $99/year for its online service.
@TheGingerpain yes, but... WHY would you prefer that? its like.. buying a car that doesnt have reverse, which you paid twice the amount for because it looks nicer than a car that has all the appropriate gears JUST because its nice and shiny.
@cocaobobo - presumably she's advising you not to buy the extra ram from apple because it will be considerably more pricey, than ram available on the market.
The OS is far better IMO on a Macintosh. There is more applications for a Windows PC but the security on a Mac is amazing! I have not had a single virus on my Macbook and I have had it for 4 years. 5 years this april I think. Knock on wood lol.

is it possible to get a macbook and modify it (like increasing the storage memory and speed) or should i spend more money and get a macbook pro. please help me decide!!!!! anyone?!!!!!
I'm looking for a computer that's good either for a Designer (since that's the career I want) and for gaming. I know you explained all of them but I'm still in doubt. Do you recommend any Mac?
@ihateyotubenames - imac's are now reasonably powerful gaming machines, however none of the mac's strike the perfect balance between price, cpu and gpu performance. Designer is fairly vague, if your designing architecture, than an imac will be fine, as will 3d renders and renderings of that done on an imac. I only recommend a mac pro if you need to design something that revolves aroung computational fluid dynamics, and fluid simulation - where the extra processing power could be useful. :)
@TheMonsterAfter12 how about you shut up she's trying to be helpful to those deciding which one to by you only come in here trolling trying to start shit which was really rude.
@ThePurpleDrumStick If your talking about a headset with a mic The mic port one thats left to the headphone port on a macbook will not power your boom mic so no one can hear you. For macs you need to buy a bluetooth headset or a USB headset :)

Hi, thanks for the helpful answer, I went to a local apple retailer (KRCS) with my only friend that has got experience with a iMac (while my other friend was moaning about them (fanboy) and instantly realised that this would be perfect for me while I was there I tried the "pro" model and to be honest if it's my first mac then I didn't see enough of a difference between them to spend that extra £200-£300 (MB 13"-MBP 13"
I know you didn't ask me, but I will encourage you to get the MB if the MBP is too much for your budget. It is great for photography & school. I am almost 40, it was my first Mac 3 years ago, I DO NOT REGRET IT AT ALL. So much so that I am now budgeting for my first MacBook Pro. I also love photography, my current iPhoto Library is almost 120 Gb, mainly photos but some video.
Get it, you won't regret it.
@iTalkApple: keep up the good work, I subscribe to you now.
Hey everyone in YouTube. I would really like to be a YouTube partner so please please please sub to my channel. Then YouTube will accept my application hope u guys doo. Thanks
I'm thinking of getting a MacBook but I'm 13 years old so I don't have a big enough budget to get a MBP unless I save for a while, my question is, is the normal MacBook good enough for photography and school work and do I get word and PowerPoint etc when I buy?
@rockorusuck In my opinion I think it depends on if you want the Aluminum or Plastic unibody. The speed on the Macbook Pro will obviously be quicker, but I dont think it'll be super duper dramatic. Sooo, yeah I think it just depends on the design (Pro has backlit keyboard and SD slot.)
all thanks to you, i got a macbok pro 13in. 2.4ghz intel core 2 duo, 4gb ram, 250 gb hard drive, and nvidia 320m. :D THANK U!!!! i use it more for gaming tho. XD
hey i have a question i have a macbook pro 15 and i was thinking to get a second display ( so i would have a the mac book and then one other screen) i don't know if my mac book would be able to handle it -processor-2.53GHz intel core 2 duo
-memory 4 gb 1067 MHz DDR3 thanks soo much love your video
okay im getting the macbook unibody for birthday on thurs but my dad bought iwork with it because he asked if i needed it for school so what youre saying is microsoft word is not included with the mac or iwork? so should i just return iwork because im in my senior year of high school and then i have college next year sooo whats the deal with that?
@meghan9323 Iwork can open and close any windows application. Try openoffice which is a free program with almost all the same features as windows. It is also compatible with all of the microsoft office applications. Look into openoffice before buying the iwork, in my opinion it is a real waste of money
Yeah, and hint the word DREAM. I only have an iMac 27" and a macbook pro. Thats a laptop and a desktop. A basic for pretty much everyone. Like iTalkApple. She has a macbook and an iMac. You can take a laptop places like school and an iMac stays at home.
Im sorry, that was all my cousin. I don't even have a Macbook pro YET. Im getting one in two weeks for the school year. And I'll be surely satisfied JUST with a macbook pro.
Well my mom works for the government so I get a decent discount so I just took advantage of it I guess. Plus I play sims 3 so I think I need the extra space for Sims 3 to fit. Its a pretty big game.
I get about 200 off. And I know just the Sims 3 wouldn't do much harm. But I have The Sims 3, The Sims 3 WA, The Sims 3 HELS, The Sims 3 Ambitions, and The Sims 3 FLS
Oh the videos are loading uber slow!!! Just my luck huh. I just ordered the new Mid 2010 iMac 27 i7 edition. I kinda went big since it's my very first Mac. Won't be a problem to learn but what do you recommend to get (software-wise)?
Yeah, and why would you pay thousands of dollars for multiple PC's in a year? I'd rather pay a bulk of 2000 dollars and keep that computer for AT LEAST 5 years.
You really are very good at giving advice on apple products.. I'm definitely going to save up for a mac book. thanks so much for your help!! Well done :)
@Sketiks mac book pro for travel and games , i have imac and i love it but for travel mac book pro , but if you dont travel and you want a desktop , then imac or mac pro ;)

Mac Pro is one of the best computers i have ever seen.
Now you can get it for 2.5k $ or improve it with:
Two 2.93GHz 6-core Intel Xeon processor (12 cores) which is one of the best processors I have ever seen.
You can get it with 64GB of RAM!!!
And up to 8TB of HDD or 2TB SSD which is much more expensive then HDD but much more safer for Data.
All that for about 10-12k, and you wouldn't worry about getting the new MAC or PC for a DECADE!

I'm looking for a computer that's good either for a Designer (since that's the career I want) and for gaming. I know you explained all of them but I'm still in doubt. Do you recommend any Mac?
Oh, and do they have HDMI?
Thanks.
ihateyotubenames 1 year ago
@ihateyotubenames - imac's are now reasonably powerful gaming machines, however none of the mac's strike the perfect balance between price, cpu and gpu performance. Designer is fairly vague, if your designing architecture, than an imac will be fine, as will 3d renders and renderings of that done on an imac. I only recommend a mac pro if you need to design something that revolves aroung computational fluid dynamics, and fluid simulation - where the extra processing power could be useful. :)
lukechalloner 10 months ago
I think the best option, is buying a macbook pro 15" 2.66 i7, and then plug in an external monitor. Then your gonna get a great setup!

Your sooo wrong about the 13" mbp better than mb, more ram, more configs, firewire, sd card slot, faster processor. 13" mbp is way better

can you connect things like an headset with an 3,5 mm jack on a macbook?
ThePurpleDrumStick 1 year ago

Alexm118118 1 year ago
@Alexm118118

I'm thinking of getting a MacBook but I'm 13 years old so I don't have a big enough budget to get a MBP unless I save for a while, my question is, is the normal MacBook good enough for photography and school work and do I get word and PowerPoint etc when I buy?
Thanks like I said good vid

is the mabook pro worth the200 extra bucks?
rockorusuck 1 year ago
@rockorusuck In my opinion I think it depends on if you want the Aluminum or Plastic unibody. The speed on the Macbook Pro will obviously be quicker, but I dont think it'll be super duper dramatic. Sooo, yeah I think it just depends on the design (Pro has backlit keyboard and SD slot.)

okay im getting the macbook unibody for birthday on thurs but my dad bought iwork with it because he asked if i needed it for school so what youre saying is microsoft word is not included with the mac or iwork? so should i just return iwork because im in my senior year of high school and then i have college next year sooo whats the deal with that?
thanks
meghan9323 1 year ago
@meghan9323 Iwork can open and close any windows application. Try openoffice which is a free program with almost all the same features as windows. It is also compatible with all of the microsoft office applications. Look into openoffice before buying the iwork, in my opinion it is a real waste of money

Yeah, and hint the word DREAM. I only have an iMac 27" and a macbook pro. Thats a laptop and a desktop. A basic for pretty much everyone. Like iTalkApple. She has a macbook and an iMac. You can take a laptop places like school and an iMac stays at home.

Well my mom works for the government so I get a decent discount so I just took advantage of it I guess. Plus I play sims 3 so I think I need the extra space for Sims 3 to fit. Its a pretty big game.
thesuperskittle07 1 year ago
@thesuperskittle07 a government discount? lol thats cool. how much do u get off?
sims 3 isnt a huge demanding game, so it wouldnt require to many computer resources
randomrazr 1 year ago
@randomrazr
I get about 200 off. And I know just the Sims 3 wouldn't do much harm. But I have The Sims 3, The Sims 3 WA, The Sims 3 HELS, The Sims 3 Ambitions, and The Sims 3 FLS

Yeah, and why would you pay thousands of dollars for multiple PC's in a year? I'd rather pay a bulk of 2000 dollars and keep that computer for AT LEAST 5 years.
