True, ghee is clarified butter, but there is a difference. The buttermilk that is ghee is made from is cultured. So the difference between regular clarified butter and ghee is that there is a slightly sweet taste to ghee that the regular stuff just doesn't have. Also, some ghee is made by slightly browning the milk solids before straining.
