It's not a waste.......you purge the lines to get rid of moisture that might have accumulated since the last time you used it.....ie. overnight or first time turning on the bottle that day.....If you've never purged your nitrous system before using it your one lucky sob you still have a motor.

you purge nitrous either for show, or to clear whatever may be in the lines other than nitrous. There can always be oxygen in the lines, and when you purge the nitrous before a race, it gives you a cleaner shot of nitrous for more power. However, the power gains are barely noticeable, but it when thousandths of a second matters, it can pick you up the win.
