Alhamdullilah brother you have accepted that beating your chest in a state of grief is allowed as made permissible by numerous hadiths of our prophet pbuh. Grand daughter of prophet bibi zainab a.s. out of grief struck her head until it bled hence the drawing of blood in grief of hussain a.s is permissible. inshallah you will agree.

zanjeer zani to answer your question is a cultural variation. different cultures remember and grieve for Mawla a.s. in there own localised way. iranians different from pakistanis + from arabs and so fourth. i hope this my brother answers your question. crying, lamenting, doing mathaam, zanjeer zani or any other kind of act for grief sake of mawla has been made permisible and there is numerous evidence available. How many majalis have you attended or how many shia(12ers)scholars have you sat with

Why has the hadith below stated that the Prophet beat his chest in his time of distress? Do you know quran better or the Prophet? The hadith is from a sunni source.
