  • Outstanding video tutorial! Everything was clearly shown and explained, and (to second justdawne) the sound and lighting were excellent, too. Last but not least, the project was cool! I'm subscribing!

  • Hi Vanessa. I was so taken with your tutorial that I sat right down and made one! Your instructions were so simple and clear that I had no trouble at all! Many thanks.

  • @crumebum WOW! That's awesome to hear! Glad you found it easy to follow! Isn't it the cutest little project to whip up? :o)

  • I want you to know just how much I appreciate your time and talent (and you're little helper too). I've been building my fledgling sewing skills (s-l-o-w-l-y) and I really am thankful for your videos. I like your upbeat enthusiasm, the high quality sound and good lighting. Plus, I really like the projects you share. I am going to make this casserole cover for my mother's birthday gift. She'll get a lot of use out of it and I can choose a really beautiful fabric for her.

    I love your channel!

  • @justdawne Thanks for your kind words!! I'm so glad you appreciate the hard work I put into each and every tutorial. Glad to see you are putting them to good use. :o)

  • I've watched this a couple times but only noticed the small pair of hands invading the screen!! Your child is helping you! That's so cute!

  • @eliphs11 haha.. yea.. It's the only way to get any work done during the day while the other baby naps. :o) It's a fun time for both of us. He likes to warn his trains about the pins in the fabric! LOL.

  • OMG i made my casserole carrier and didnt even do a video, No worries I can make another to show soon!!

  • @greenrmytears lol. Can't wait to see it! :o)

  • Hi Vanessa, I was wondering if you have a drawstring backpack tutorial that you could please share? I know how to make a basic drawstring pouch but I am not sure how long the strings that also function as shoulder straps need to be. I am hoping to make one for my friend's little boy who is,I think, around your son's age. So maybe you will consider making a video tutorial later? please! thank you!

  • @3838bbla Hi! I don't have a tutorial on how to make the drawstring bag into a backpack just yet. I do have it on my list of videos to do though. :o)

  • This is just fantastic! I cannot wait to get started on Christmas gifts for next year. I think your videos are fabulous. I can't seem to tell enough people about your site! Thanks so much for taking time to post these videos for us to enjoy!!

  • @Loishasel Thanks so much for spreading the word. I'm glad you appreciate and enjoy my tutorials. They are a lot of work... and fun to make!

  • I was able to pause the video to take notes. But would like printable instructions. I love this idea

  • @sshew52 That's one of the great things about video- pause, rewind, forward, etc. My videos take several days to create and unfortunately, I just don't have the time to create the print versions of each one as well. Sorry.

  • awesome project....i am sewing up my stash and using up bits and pieces of leftover batting. Guess what I will be making all of my friends for next Christmas!!! Your tutorials are wonderful. thanks

  • @crittersitter51 Great!! Thanks... and I'm glad you enjoy them. They are a lot of work... and fun to make! :o)

  • Love... but my question is how much does one need to increase the measurements for a 9x13. And have you thought of modifing it so a wooden spoon is your handle? Happy New Year

  • @6bymomma I'm not sure of the measurements since I have not experimented with it myself. Maybe you could try starting out with pieces that measure 26" x 26". I wouldn't want to limit the functionality of the carrier by requiring that I have a wooden spoon whenever I want to use it... and I'd be too afraid that it would slip off the "handle" to even experiment with it.

  • @TheCraftyGemini the ones i have seen at the craft shows and bazzars around here have the wooden handle thats why I ask. Thanks for your fast reply.

  • @6bymomma Yea, I've seen several different kinds...even with round wooden purse handles sewn in. No problem.

  • Way too fast.

  • @Gobi512 Sorry you found the video too fast. I try to keep my videos as short as I can without losing the quality of the content. One great thing about video is that it can be paused and replayed as often as you want.

  • Thank you for the detailed explaination. I am an experiance sewer and have a diffiult time explaining sewing proceedures to others. You make it easy to understand with the resoning behind each step. Thanks again. Have a blessed day

  • @MYGISAWS Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed the tutorial. :o)

  • I will try that out! Thanks so much! You inspire me!!! Hope your family had a blessed Christmas!

  • @sahinkle44 No prob! Glad to help! We sure did.. same to you and yours! :o)

  • Just some thing about you!

  • Love this! Can you fit a 9x13 casserole in it?

  • @sahinkle44 I was able to but it doesn't look as closed up as the square or round ones. I would suggest starting off with pieces that are a little bigger than the 22" x 22". Maybe do a test one with 25" or 26" squared to start? Good luck!

  • I always love what you make!! Happy Holidays to you and your family!

  • @LetiLaFlaca Thanks, Leti! Same to you and yours! :o)

  • Great useful quick gift :: )

  • @afos32 I agree! :o)

  • Wonderful idea & would make awesome gifts for any reason.

  • @LoriHulstine Definitely! Especially for a potluck... you could take a dish and leave the carrier with the host. :o)

  • Your little helper seems very cute. He loves sewing too?

  • @3838bbla Thanks! He is only 2 yrs old so he doesn't do much sewing... but he definitely likes to help! :o)

  • This is adorable. I can not wait to make one. I don't have a facebook so I will upload a video response to this tutorial.

  • @greenrmytears Yay! A video response would be awesome! Can't wait to see it! :o)

  • I was really hoping it was a 2 sided tablecoth, hint, hint! Second, I thought you had 3 hands for a second and boy was I jealous!

  • @mrsfrd LOL. I'll add your subtle suggestion to my list of tutorials to do. Ha! Nope.. just 2 hands here.

  • you always have the greatest ideas!!! i like that your channel is family friendly.. kids love to help!

  • Great project! I love how the strap keeps the cover closed and is also the handle!

  • this would be a great gift for house warming gift or a dinner party gift with a pot in it thank you for sharing this with all of us :) :)

  • Oh love you helper =)

  • Very cool..Loved it in Spanish too

    You are awesome

    Merry Christmas

    BIG HUGS for you

  • As soon as I get a break around here (I'm up to my armpits in sewing for others smh), I am going to whip up your potholder and this casserole carrier to match. I will post them to your fb page.

  • Yes you do make things that seem so complicated seem easy you are a gifted teacher. You are very much appreciated. Thank you again. :-)

  • Awesome! I love these and always wanted to know how to make them!!

  • WOW you make something which usually looks so complicated look sooo easy! I'm def making one of them for myself. Thanks so much.

  • @abusivebunnie hahaha.. yup! My little guy loves to help! He marked the line for the opening too. ;o)

  • Wonderful idea. TFS.

    Indira

  • @craftyhomemade Glad you liked it! :o)

  • Did you come up with this one yourself???!!! It's fantastic... i've seen tuts for similar, but you've brought this right down to the nitty gritty... streamlined it and made it look fun and simple.. thank you for this... our next generation will get excited with your ideas... and that is what we need... Your little guy will be narrating for you before you know it!!! :)

  • @101oogie I've seen similar ones and I came up with some measurements, made a prototype for a small 8" pie dish just so I could get the logistics worked out and then I just designed it bigger, etc. Glad you like it! It's a snap to make once those two big squares are quilted. :o)

  • Thank you .

  • @kmbbmk1 No problem!

  • great idea, that little hand was so sweet

  • @shellyd1000 LOL. It's the only way to get stuff done while I'm home with both my babies. It's so much fun though... he says, "watch out, choo-choo train, watch out!" as he maneuvers it around the pins on the fabric. hahahaha..

  • Awsome! what a great idea.
