  • This video is absurd. Amazing song

  • one of the most poetically carved songs ever. disect it.

  • yeah, brett did quit, it was a fair while aftr they signed but before the following album. epitaph really took off aroud then and i think he got back into drugs

for a while BR used to sing this song with the lyric "i wanna know why gurrewitz cracked?"

  • Where is your ref to back up the information thet brett have quited?

Please post a link so we can't see if it is true.

  • What? Brett Gurewitz quit Bad Religion when they signed to Atlantic because he thought BR was 'selling out' because they left Epitaph to sign to Atlantic. That's widely known. See the albums which Brett wasn't on for reference..He rejoined on Process of Belief.

  • WUT!?!?!? NOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!! y did he do that bad religion was a hit! i hope he realizes he was an idiot for doing that and cums bak

  • I said he rejoined on Process of Belief. He's been on every album since.

  • Do you just spam that on any music related video? Seems like you're just trying to provoke a response or some needling. I guess you got a response..

  • bad religion rules!!!

    punk rock rocks!!!!!

  • Only 251.174 views?

    Weird.

  • amazing video!

  • B R.. one of the best punk rock bands,Ever!

  • Bad Religion rocks!!!!

  • I love Gaffin's lyrics.

  • This one was written by Brett Gurewitz.

  • Really?

Wow, guess he's got lyric-writing skills as well.

  • how do you know which wrote what? i dont see it in the liner notes

  • It's all on wikipedia, but you can generally identify Brett's songs on account of all the biblical and literary references in them (i.e. "Caringosity killed the Kerouac cat, Wolfe looks back, I want to know why Hemingway cracked")

This was Brett's last album before leaving the band. The first one they recorded without him was "The Gray Race"

  • actually didnt brett quit when they signed major? for against the grain or generator and stayed out til process... or am i wrong?

  • Man, if I was to make a top 20 best songs ever list this would make the top 5.

  • my favourite songs... even the lyrics seems 2 be not so understanding but if u really try it to understand, u know life is always full of surprises... but everyone don't have the answer... coz aother will come along soon...

  • good ole' 90s punk.

  • Brazil i love Bad Religion e Bad Religion i love Brazil ( Curitiba City )

  • Brazil i love Bad Religion e Bad Religion i love Brazil ( Curitiba City )

  • man, Brett's lyrics are so different than Greg's, for sure...this is a great Brett song, though!

  • I love this song Bad Religion at their best

  • When Greg Graffin says, "Curiosity killed the Kerouac cat.", I feel he speaks to each person's limits.

  • No. It's 'caringosity' (which isn't a word)killed the Kerouac cat. And it's referencing Jack Kerouac, a writer. He drank himself to death after his friend died. Thus, caringosity killed the Kerouac cat. Genius line though isn't it? The song's is all about artists and being unable to deal with life. Hence Hemingway, Wolfe, Kerouac.

  • very well explained

  • wow, that is good. I never put that together despite all the times I heard this song.

  • I love these guys! I purchased their "suffer" album in 1990, and I have been hooked ever since. I think their album "No Control" is a watermark-quality album.

  • great band, awesome song

  • asdgykjahskluejhifjahsgdahwietgqwijhgfuygefuiweuyastdgfuqwgyeufyagsdashadfhhjgkajsegfiwbefioyagsdifhwieughnioaushegipuqwehtoiquwetypqweuiebfjfbvbjhbjnzxcvbmnzxcbvmnzxcbvmbnzxcmvbzxmcvbasdghoiwuetyqiowtyqwertyuiopasdfghjklzxcvbnmthwhdfhqergdfgaasdg

  • Er, whoops, I didn't mean to post that, I meant to audio preview it.

  • lol

    yeah I do that sometimes

  • That's pretty funny.

  • Greg Graffin is god!

So, so sexy. We need more men like him...and Henry Rollins...drools...

  • Best band ever!

  • i seen them ladt night at gvr they were fucking sick

  • damn, I wish I was born 5 years earlier, I would have known better music, the music from the 90s, when punk was strong and good... I'm 19 and I think any music made in the last 8 years sucks, cept for the good old bands formed before.

It's easy to see the differences between 90s and 00s on the cds of those bands, pennywise changed, bad religion changed, anti-flag changed. But everything change and grow up..

Once the old bands will be gone, we'll be left without anything good.

  • There's still good bands out there mate just gotta sift through the shit

  • i guess media will put a rockin band to "save rock".. not so good.. but will have a massive propaganda just like nirvana (that is cool).. they do that just to distract us from the truth..lol

  • What are you talking about? o_0

  • POWERFUL BAND

  • mr brett ROCKS!

  • i dont get why he says they're eating crackers like Thanksgiving...i never understood that. do people eat lots of crackers at thanksgiving or something?

  • To-Guywholovesmovies-"...Eating crackers like Thanksgiving..." is followed by "And a pack of wild desperados scornful of living..." What Brett is trying to say is that some people are ungrateful and the ones who don't have much cherrish what they do have. Those guys who are "scornful of living" are compared to the people "eating crackers like Thanksgiving". For some, crackers may be a feast. I think...but don't quote me on this. I'm just giving you my understanding.

  • wow! thanks dude that definitely explains a lot. i think you much be right. it makes sense that way to me now

  • I aint no musician, some things are stranger than fishin lol

  • hahaha NOFX makes me laugh =)

  • I'm not sure why you mentioned nofx, but they give huge respect to bad religion. Yes, they're funny as hell, i agree.

  • I want to know why Hemingway cracked.

  • best song ever recordet

  • I love how BR's songs make you use your vocabulary and THINK, instead of just handing you a fun tune and saying BUY OUR ALBUM, they really make you think and use your head. Great band! Greater Song and possibley they're best album!

  • Greg Graffin, their lead singer, is a professor at UCLA. It's no wonder that their songs are so verbose. It's got plenty references to academic subjects because all of the band members are also very smart.

  • yeah I knew about him at UCLA. That's still really sweet tho, that bands actually have some Intelligence behind their music. it's refreshing.

  • while this is a good song from a pretty good album, there is nothing better than their album Suffer.

  • Wish this song was longer.

  • Isnt there a movie called stranger than fiction??

    any relationship to the song?

  • The one with Will Ferrel? No, completely different.

  • -i kove bad rekigion....

  • hihi, i love bad religion

  • not bad rekigion then?

  • great song, great lyrics, great band. Punk rockkkkkk!

  • Bad Re4ligion FOR EVER!!!!

  • i lol'd @ the old women playing badminton

  • I seem to remember a lot of 'Maximum Rock & Roll' types bitching and moaning about this song: 'I was into "Against the Grain" but this is selling out' etc.

Meanwhile, in the real world, it was probably the best tune they'd ever recorded.

  • if you read Maximum R'n'R you can expect comments like that.

  • Heh. How true and how funny.

  • I Wouldn't say best... tracks like Suffer and You would probably trump it. still, it was fucking awesome nonetheless.

  • The Bad Religion record that conjurs up the most meaning for me. Followed by The Gray Race, probably.

  • Have you heard suffer? That's definitely up there too.

  • awsome song

  • this band meant alot to me. still does.

  • ichigo's theme song

  • i suppose u read the 1st bleach manga right? hahaha

  • yep

  • I remember being a little kid while my brother played this album constantly and i'd sing along and dance. lol and that was 14 years ago. good times.

  • one of the best songs ever!

  • Best lines are:

    "Caringosity Killed the Kerouac Cat"

"I Wanna Know Why Hemingway Cracked" haha those get me everytime, great song.

  • what do thoes mean

  • I think there refering to why did Hemingway commit suicide?..could be wrong though..

  • hemingway commited suicide, yes. i think thats it.

  • how many devils can you fit on a mach?

    great line

  • its how many devils can you fit on a match head

  • okay im sorry but i got an email saying that you replied to my message about a line in the song, and called me a "dumb fuck" if that was for me maybe you should learn who i sent my first message to, before you call people names because what i wrote had nothing to do with " life is the crummiest book i ever read, there isn't a hook" but you know good for you you know song lines to a song

  • i was talkin bout old wemans playin badminton... not bout bad religion...

  • i dont get that line what are they saying

  • Awesome.

  • holy fucking shit cock ass! i didn't know there was a video of stranger than fiction.

  • I added new vids from this great band! Check them out if you are interested in Bad Religion lyrics!

  • Trabdood, you might just want to stop posting comments. You're being made out to be a fool.

  • Okay I can see Graffin, Jay, Greg, Bobby but who else, I think I saw Mr. Brett in there but I dont know. Someone wanna give me a line up?

  • maverickxpunk: I might be talking out my ass, I he may have been in rehab at the time and wasn't with BR. I might be wrong !

  • Dertygian: Thats what I thought but I dont think that they would make the MV of Bretts song without him. But then again I may be wrong. Thanks

  • maverickxpunk: I'll ask my brother ClunkityClunk4Truth, dude's ten times the BR fan I am.

  • Dertygian: that would be sweet. Im a big BR fan but Iv only been around for a short time and dont know that much. Thanks.

  • From what I can tell Derty is correct; Brett was probably already out of the band, in rehab, and Brian has replaced him.

  • Okay cause he left right before the STF tour. Thanks a lot.

  • David 32:19 " Jesus told his disciples 'arguing on youtube is like the special olympics, even if you win your still retarded"

And i KNOW im contradicting myself - so to all you clever people, hold back the temptation to tell me so.

Fucking love bad religion and keep coming across new albums - how many have they got now?

    Peas x

  • Bad Religion has 14 albums out now, and 2 EPs.

  • really? shit, i need some cash... And a good record shop...

    Peas x

  • lol I know what ya mean.

  • Love the song... don't care for the video so much :-/

  • i love bad religion!

  • To all those talking about religion...Leave it alone. Listen to the awesome music. I'm a Christian and I believe in God and I LOVE Bad Religion.

  • This was the very first song and video I ever heard from these guys and now I can't get enough. BAD RELIGION!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This was the very first song and video I ever heard from these guys and now I can't get enough. BAD RELIGION!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • what do these lyrics mean

  • I think it's basically that the truth of things that go on are stranger than fiction. People all around the world starving, cancer, global warming, stupidity, just all these problems that we ignore for the most part. These things never really happen in fiction novels (the ones I've read at least which isn't very many :p) and the fact that it happens here and we ignore it is stranger than fiction. That's how I see it at least.

  • Pretty much sums it up. People have the power to cease most global problems but we don't My perspective is that they mean Human beings are stranger than fiction because although we care a lot about random stuff we don't care enough about what will eventually wipe us out. GREED, HATE & IGNORANCE.

  • That's because the business men that run this country would rather eat more small businesses and franchises than help the 3rd world countries and needy people.

  • Trabdood: That's a narrow perspective. How many people are employed by larger companies? If small businesses can't compete, especially in the fair U.S. market, just like nature, they'll die out. All companies started small... would you say they have no right to grow? You should ask how much Bad Religion has donated. Really. The U.S. does SO FUCKING MUCH to help the world... and we couldn't do it without economic growth. Can't see the forest for the trees.

  • Economic Growth that employed some and left otehrs out in the cold.

  • Trabdood: Left other out? Boo the fuck hoo. I'm sorry but it'd be naive to think we can ALL be equal economically. Fate & personal responsibilities dictate. Think of 21st Century Digital Boy: "I want but really don't need". Bloody hell... Economic growth that's provide MORE people than EVER, in HISTORY, the luxuries we all enjoy. Look to America, the poor are in league to say, the African.

  • Oh please. Believe me we can. Socialism has never really been given a fair chance. It has been turned to dictatorship which has given it a bad name. But sure, enjoy your luxeries while you can. I for one cannot wait for a revolution.

  • Trabdood: Human nature abhors socialism. Historically they turn to towards tyranny for that simple fact. Never a fair chance, eh? Oh revolution! Betcha wear Che Guevara t-shirts too! Such a rebel!

  • No. What do I look like? the average American teenager that wears a Che shirt but doesnt know what the hell it stands for? Sounds more like Corporate America's blind followers. Like you.

  • Trabdood: You're probably a tool, using products that you admonish with your circle of friends, possibly an elitist, you have a soulpatch, and drink Starbucks complaining of the plight of the Proletariats. Follower, HA? Doesn't Bad Religion have a song called, "No Direction"? You might want to listen to that. I'd say stop hanging on to BR's every word. Epic FAIL

  • You realize what you're defending right now? A country that spends trillions on War but does jack shit towards Poverty and Health Care. This isn't even about that New World Order, thats another story. This is America's obvious problems that you're accepting. Alarming prescription medicine prices, oil prices, About 12 - 30 million impoverished citizens. Medicine and Health Care in general should not cost a cent. I'm not going to argue anymore. Its like argueing with a sheep.. Oh wait.

  • Trabdood: Ahem, U.S.'s oil prices are stil much lower than Europes. Medicine and health care is a service. Tax ME to pay for someone else but you'd like that huh? MORE government power. Take from everyone to redistribute wealth. Such a naive child you are. There'll ALWAYS be poor people moron. You can't fix that in any society. New World Order, Sheep? Oh shit, I just realized you're a fucking loon Conspiracy Theorist!! Stay off the paint fumes dumbass.

  • as a matter of fact you can change poverty... Democratic Socialism... in all honesty i have researched many different forms of government and this is deffinantly the better the majority... less place for corruption... Capitalism condones greed as to socialism which condones equality... in short... Capitalistic society only thrives because of polititians greed and overwealming grasp on the general population...

    Inform Yourself...

  • RiDdLeBoXcLoWn13: Socialism 'tries' to have equality; why don't YOU inform yourself into the understanding that there'll be corruption WITH socialism too. Let's say you have three siblings. You mother tells y'all to clean the house for money. You're the only who does. All the children still get allowances. Now, same thing happens again next week. And the week after. So... will you CONTINUE to do all the work? Socialism in a nutshell.

  • rancid esq look... but nothing like the rancid sound

  • One of my favorite BR songs! :D

  • Great song...

Not so great music video :D

  • Me too =)

  • his voice is sooooo great !!!!!!

  • Jesus existed... God didn't

  • Please keep what you think for yourfelf!

  • prove me that god exists

  • First i wont prove anything because i am an atheist, but we are not in a place to talk about religious point of view!Like kingnick113 and sociald543 said ``lets just enjoy the video``.

  • That0s fine to me XD

  • That0s fine to me XD

  • All you make are assumptions. There is no way you can show that humans were "created", nevermind that there is a god. And a god that cannot be illogical is even lower than a human, because humans can be illogical. You are a perfect example of that.

  • Look if you feel this way why the hell are you watching bad religion filmclips. Most people that listen to these guys are atheists and don't want to hear a bunch of preaching. Another thing what's with all the swearing I thought churchies found swearing impure? I have nothing against you just religion in general. There's no doubt that religion has done good to the world but it has done more bad than good. The crusades for instance or the dark ages and even now with Islam with holy wars? Whatever

  • tanknomaniac: Eech, you're rationality for theism is sickening. And don't draw Descartes into this, sounds like you JUST took a college course on philosophy and heard of the guy, now you're name-dropping him.

  • And also may I ask, if you hold such opposing views why are you on a Bad Religion video?

  • Trabdood: Because I like the music. So fucking what?

  • Saying fuck so much makes you so cool =)

  • Being a Socialist makes you the cream of the crop.

  • Trabdood: FUCKFUCKFUCKFUCKFUCKFUCK. Just a word. Step off that pedastal; no attempt to trying to be "cool". That something gradeschoolers care about, like you.

  • if you ask me you people should stop arguing about whatever, its like this on all youtube videos, people arguing about pointless stuff and it really ruins good videos

  • i agree with that. lets just enjoy the video. its a good one. (bible is shit though. virgin marry mary= baby jesus..... yeah ok)

  • did u know that the earth is a lot younger than previously thought? It's 'cause carbon dating is wrong, because they dated the dust around the moon and it wasnt that old. Also Jesus probably DID exist...but that he was the MESSIAH probably wasnt true He said he was a son of god but not the messiahAccording to the bible everyone is a child of godthats really all jesus meantand im in the middle ground really.I blve theres somethin here but it doesnt mean its name is "god"

  • **Cockroach naps

  • Cockroach napes.. oh Gregor I love you, and Bad Religion

  • Jesus may have been real but i dont belive he did all the stupid (in my opinion) shit that was written in the bible. lol and my friend pointed something out... the David and Goliath story.. they measure him in feet.... they didnt even have the metric system... lol

  • FIRST of all, Jesus is mentioned in so many differnet religions but hes mentioned as a "Great Teacher" and Second of all.. Feet Isnt the Metric System!

  • Not supporting either side of this, but the measurements in the bible are all converted from ancient measurements when the original text is translated.

  • feet isn't in the metric system...

  • Jesus was never Real, If he was Real, And creating all these miracles and such and so forth. Don't you think the historians would write about it? But none have. haha, Research it. They mention about "cristus" Which means "Son of God" But can also be translated at "Son" Just research it. You'll get it.

  • yes we all know people are stupid and believe in supernatural beeings because they' re bored. Church is smart.. They tell people that they don't need material thing because they will be rewarded in the afterlife.. Of course then it's easy to take their money.. Sometimes truth is Stranger than Fiction ha?^^

  • there is proof that jesus was real but that he was the son of god or wtf?? give e proof of that please..

  • There's also some proof that he didn't exist.

  • no ...he did exist.. thats not whats debatable ...now..was he the son of god? thats whats debatable. Arguing the fact that a normal man didn't exist is silly.

  • No, I'm not saying he didn't exist. I'm just saying there is evidence to support that he didn't. Maybe not as much to support the he did exist, but still.

  • une des meilleures....jadoreeeeeeeeeeee waaaaaa

  • excelente video, una de mis canciones favoritas de bad religion

  • muy weno bad religion !!!

  • muy weno bad religion !!!

  • hehe the best abum of bad religion infected+digatl boy 5ever

  • incredible and unique reference of the real punk music

  • well said!

  • Ever been told what the mysterious lying 666 number of the Beast represents ? . Ifnot then watch Vid .

  • Um 666 means nero im pretty sure it repersents caesar in hebrew.

  • 666,DCLXVI(666 in roman numerals which was the system back then), is a mistranslation from 616,DLXVI(616 is roman). Some one just added a C since someone thought is would probably the correct way since DCLXVI is the first of the roman numerals spelled backwards whilst 616 is simply a semingly random number.

  • Great song & lyrics!

  • love this song

  • gotta love this band

    lyrics are cool
