@fata655 Please go look at any SOHC or DOHC "V" engine, with two banks of cylinders, V6, V8, V10, V12... With a single overhead cam, there is one overhead cam per cylinder head. Two cams total.

Dual overhead cams have two cams per cylinder head, and two banks.. The Cobras, Mach 1s, old Lincoln Mark 8s, GT500, etc, have 4 cams. Now with a SOHC inline 4, inline 6, there is only one cam. DOHC I4 or I6, two cams.

It's really simple stuff. Just go look at a SOHC 4.6.

@donyboy23 in a way you're both kind of stupid. An overhead cam engine does NOT necessarily have "2 cams or 4 cams." This is where the term sohc, dohc, or even 4ohc comes in. Engines can have a Single Over Head Cam, double, or four.

This engine has a SOHC setup. Cam in each head. Heaven forbid you run into a DOHC (Two cams per Head) Mustang... that's yo ass LOL

@Bonersoupism FYI - A 2v motor will have a single overhead cam. 1 on each side. a 4 valve (per Cylinder ) will have 2 overhead cams per side so the 32 valve motor will have 4 cams
