This is one of the best systems I have ever heard, it makes me wonder do subs sound better in SUVs/Box-like cars (i.e. Scion xB, Kia Soul, Chevy HHR).

I have JBL power series components 6-1/2" in the front, and JBL Power Series 6-1/2" 2 ways in the back doors. All stock locations with dynatmat in all doors to help the mids.

seriously, rediculously loud distorted bass is just OLD and ANNOYING. A real sound system has good SQ with subs picking up all bass notes but WITHOUT loud distortion.

but ay quick question , are those 400wrms or 800wrms? cuz i have been hearing alot of ppl saying that there 800wrms but the specs say 400wrms.

and dude waz it just me or waz the Factory system in the HHRs pretty clean sounding (iv road in one b4).

Thanks a lot man! They are 400watts rms, these alpine amps put out 1200rms, so I'm pushing 600rms to each sub. They handle that no problem, sound not bad too. The factory system wasn't bad, had decent highs and an 8" sub in the rear.

Yeah they hit nice, 2 is enough for most people, but if you get 4 it's ridiculous

how many watts do you have on this system? how good is the factory system? does it come with a sub?

2000rms to the subs, 600rms to the 4 doors. Factory was good for factory- it had an 8" sub in the back side panel.

Oh, what did you do with the 8" sub?

I just disconnected it. It's in behind the interior plastic rear drivers side panel (in the trunk area). It only handles around 20 watts. You can use the space for something more powerful, I've seen pics online of some installs that used the factory location.

This is an LT, but also called a "Fall Special" limited edition- that may be why you haven't seen it. I'm not sure if it was available otherwise...

I have had a ton of systems, in a lot of different cars. Usually 2 subs, never 4 like this. There is a lot of dynamat in this car, but even so, HHR's are GREAT for SPL! The windows are rattle free, it holds together, the only loss is at the sunroof and the rear hatch.

sounds good. if you couldn't hear the rattle when the bass starts im sure a lot of people would think you just put audio over the video.

The first system i had in it had 2 pdx amps, with 2 shallow mount kenwood twelves, all in the spare tire well with a false cover. You just fibreglass the pan where the spare used to be. Really cool install potential with no one knowing theres a system in it at all. No way near a loud as this, but nice sound...
