  • He looks like such a sweet and genial man! Love the music!

  • @Pearlaceous - doesn't he - glad you like the music (Gregorian Chant 'Ave Maria I') - it seems to work with the film footage. cheers

  • U FORGOT EXACT DAY! How TO DOWNLOAD ANY VIDEO

  • hi GildyGury haven't got a particular day, only the month and year

  • if you have trouble locating a downloaded file, just do a search of your C drive using the name of that file. or go to 'tools' on your top task bar and click on 'downloads' in the drop down menu - and then click on the film you've downloaded and select 'open containing file'

hope it goes well - it's a great way to save little films that might only be on the internet for a while and then dissappear - so you no longer have access to them

    best, nick

  • now, when there's a video or movie playing on your screen (like when you watch something on You Tube) the three little balls rotate. if you click on them the video on your screen will download onto your computer - it will be found in a 'dwhelper' (or 'Download Helper') folder - which will have been created in your 'downloads' folder. your 'downloads' folder is in the same place as your folders 'my videos', 'my documents', my pictures, 'desktop' and so on, under your 'user' (your name)

  • if you don't have 'modzilla firefox' you can download it free and use is as a supplimentary browser - easy and quite safe to do! and much less virus prone than 'explorer'

then you download one of firefox's free 'add on' programs - the one called 'downloadhelper'

when you've downloaded 'downloadhelper' a little icon of three coloured balls will appear on the toolbar at the top and towards the left end of any internet page you open

  • hi

you asked me on my channel how to download videos from You Tube. this is how it's done:

it's very easy to download things from You Tube

you do the downloading from the browser 'modzilla firefox' - it's like 'internet explorer' and can be used as an alternative ....

  • hi GildyGury - will do

  • Where was jp2 when grandma passed y did God alow her2go in such way. Chek my video of her dancing like 20yr old at 88!

  • hi GildyGury - she was certainly lively! great movement of her arms and shoulders. cheers from sydney!

  • @nickwallacesmith Consecration means giving yourself entirely to a person because you love him/her so much that all you want to do is to be like them. In the act of consecration, you give yourself, body and soul, thoughts and actions to Mary, our Mother. Everything you do, you do it in Her name and as a gift to Her. The best part? MARY GIVES HERSELF TO YOU. She'll give you Her graces, will ALWAYS hear your prayers because She's the Mother of Mercy etc... She'll never abandon us as She promised.

  • @nickwallacesmith If you want to know more, I really, REALLY suggest reading True Devotion to Mary by Saint Louis de Montfort (best version can be bought online at TAN books. Can also be foudn online) and saying the Rosary everyday. Don't be scared in loving the Blessed Mother; Jesus Himself loves Her to infinity, why would He be displeased if we show Her affection or ask Her help? She Herself told us that the world will be saved once people start becoming more devoted to Her Immaculate Heart!

  • hi philipmarie1854 - thank you very much for taking the time to tell me about True Devotion to Mary by Saint Louis de Montfort and where to find it - very much appreciated. best from nick in Sydney

  • @nickwallacesmith May Mary be with you and shield you under Her mantle!

  • He's not treated as God, we end all prayers in Jesus's name, at the name of Jesus we bow our heads, at the mention of the Holy Trinity we bow. The different jestures that men pay to the Holy Father is simply out of respect!

  • Thank you for uploading this film.....I'm a protestant but in a strange way I sensed something of the holiness of the man. Maybe I imagined it; maybe not. Anyway to God is good I guess

  • hi whitesocklad - you are right, holiness is not necessarily the province of one faith - i sensed something about Leo III which is partly why i uploaded this footage. cheers

  • It isnt a blessing at the end but the beginning of the Ave Maria prayer. "Ave Maria, gratia plena"

  • I am catholic, but i believe that the respect the pope recieves is far too high, bowing before him- only something thst should be done before god

  • hi sksk1995 - i'm an anglican but i think the pope is a man, perhaps a great man, and should be shown respect but not treated as God.

  • I do not care what some people may say about Catholic church; This is my religion, I was born with this credo. I believe in God, Christ, and the Holy Spirit.

  • This was one of the greatest and least known Popes. He was given a vision of the evil spirits that surround us and produced the St Michael prayer still used extensively after the Rosary. It used to be part of the liturgy and when it was no longer used, the Church went into recession. Leo XIII was the Pope who met St Therese on her visit to Rome and gave her encouragement to enter the convent before the usual age.

  • hi noleyplatz - thanks very much for taking the time to share with us - much appreciated, best, nick

  • @noleyplatz Not only that but he was very, very devoted to the Blessed Virgin Mary. He made a record 13 encyclicals because he wanted people to pray to Her and ask Her help, he even said the act of consecration of Saint Louis de Montfort on his deathbed.

  • hi philipmarie1854 - thanks for sharing that - can you tell us what the the act of consecration of Saint Louis de Montfort is? cheers from sydney

  • this is the best bless who ever made this for i think the popes are cool

  • Fascinating,from a historic aspect!

  • hi popazz1 - and great someone had the foresight to make the footage

  • @nickwallacesmith ,

    Yup,that's true.

  • This is truly an amazing video. It is truly the act of divine providence that the church survives and grows despite all of the daggers thrown its way by those who want to destroy it.

  • hi MANKATO311 - yes, and amazing someone had the foresight to organise the filming for posterity, cheers

  • man Im suprised you didn't notice the irony of the film isn't it funny that it looks like the pope is observing us watching him and waving to us you can see how the other priest is showing us that we should participate and wave to the pope you can also get a feeling they're discussing it between themselfs just as we do the meeting between twi differen era for a minute

  • hi Staszek1987050806 - wouldn't be surprised if the cameraman or director told the pope to act as though he was giving an audience - some direction so he wouldn't just stand there puzzled by the new technology, cheers

  • Popes do tend to be against modernism because it shines a light into the dark world of Christian superstition.

  • hi MegaGayjesus - very true

  • And he was against modernism!

  • @ve2so - yes, life is full of ironies!

  • @ve2so actually your wrong...modernism is all he stood for he he said that the church and science could co-exist and he was great interested in science and literature and his goal as a pope was the make the church more modern

  • wow this is really beautiful

  • hi Classical0note - yes, amazing that the film exists! bring the pope alive in a sense

  • I've always liked him. He's happy.

  • @Ypipable - yes he is - a nice man it seems

  • awesome, where did you find this clip? it's so obscure. that's cool yo

  • hi defgill - i've seen bits and pieces of this film around - the footage and the sound separately - and it's amazing to think that it was just out there - i hinestly can't recall where i first saw it - i was googling away and it turned up!

  • Who is that gay bloke in white, with the big camp hat?

  • @MegaGayjesus your grand grand grand father

  • amazing. thanks.

  • @water3three - yep, amazing what's out there to excavate out - take care, nick

  • And, as one of his first acts, he restored the hierarchy to Scotland which had been extinct since the Protestant Reformation.

  • hey Sprocket32 - thanks for that - it makes the post much more interesting cos most people probably won't know anything of this pope. thanks again, nick

  • i would rather eat dirt than be "blessed" by ANY man claiming to be speaking for the CREATOR on earth.

  • @eatatmargos

Then you'd be going against what Jesus said when he made Peter the rock of the Church as well as keeper of the keys to heaven.

  • when was this footage shot in?

  • hi ultradumbass - february 1903, the year of the pope's death

  • @nickwallacesmith pardon the second one, i think it was a glitch that sent my comment in twice. it happens every now and then.

  • hi ultradumbass - no problem - glad to hear from you, nick

  • @nickwallacesmith on the third paragraph i meant to right tells*. it is interesting because the views he had as a young person changed drastically when he got older, pope leo 13 is a perfect example to show how suddenly people's lives and views can change.

  • @ultradumbass - yes, i suspect everyone has good and bad in them (and popes are no different of course) and we all have unresolved and contradictory positions on things - more and more i go into conversations to find my own position rather than reveal one. so thanks very much for sharing leo's xiii's extraordinary metamorphosis - such change is easy to imagine) renouncing one's wealth, and so on) but harder to actually do

  • hi ultradumbass again - his voice was recorded in 1903, the footage was shot in 1896

  • @nickwallacesmith oh i just noticed, if you're saying the recording is from 1903, that must mean then that this was right before he died since he died on july 20 of that year. i know a weird story is someone bragged that he had been to every pope's last meetings all his life and pope leo 13 replied by saying "if i had known you were such a bad omen to popes, i'd have had this meeting delayed." and within 6 weeks he was also dead.

  • hi ultradumbass - my understanding it was in the year of his death. i loved your story about the (o)man for Leo X!!!! thanks for sharing - i suspect i'll be passing it on! best, nick

  • @nickwallacesmith well i came to a new conclusion about leo 13 you might find interesting, he was both tyrannical and good at the same time. as a young bishop he was a real life tyrant who killed or imprisoned members of the aristocracy for opposing his army when he was governing their province. leo 13 at first grew up in a wealthy family so at the time he was not yet exposed to the lives of the poor, also at first he used to preach about killing anyone who did not follow catholicism.

  • @nickwallacesmith however, one day he began seeing some sick people laying on the streets, and soon later a small boy came to him and told him that the bread person is ripping the poor off by charging them more than the legal weight, so he went to the store, and confiscated the merchant's bread, but repaid him the legal fee with his treasury and gave the bread to the poor, this is around when he starts to recant his evil ways. soon after he became the first bishop of his time to renounce wealth.

  • @nickwallacesmith also later in life he would recant his statements of killing unbelievers and heretics. and a story later in his life tels the story of a nun working at the church who came up to his throne when he was entering council and she asked if she could attend. he said she may if the guards let her through. she went to the guards and they let her walk in without resistance, making him the first pope to give women the right to attend church meeting councils.

  • What a fantastic piece of history! Thank you for posting this.

  • hi Pectoris4 - isn't it - amazing wgat's out there waiting to be located - glad you enjoyed it - best, nick

  • hey didone

it is pretty exciting to find this film!

    good to hear from you

    best, nick
