  • I started mine with a quote... It wasn't a common quote by a well known person though... I don't even remember the guy's name... it was something about weeds and hard work.. soo.... I hope that's okay... seeing as I already sent my stuff in...

(and I thought I was being unique....)

  • @MissLysreign It's easier said than done, but try not to worry about things outside your control. And best of luck!

  • personal statement and research objectives are the same ????plz answer

  • @Lanja1991 They are not necessarily the same. You are welcome to call us at 703.242.5885 to discuss your particular profile in greater detail.

  • LOOOL its so true how everyone wants to add a quote to their statement

  • What if it's a quote your teacher told the class on an ordinary day like "you will fail in life"?

  • I always feel like I have awesome original ideas, but then they turn out to become cliches!

  • Thanks for the Do's and Dont's for the personal statement, I am now getting ready to write my own statement as I get ready to get all my things together for law school, and this info was great help to me. My thing with the statement is that I wanted to be genuine and not be somebody I'm not just because I want to go this particular school, so I'm thankful you said be genuine!

  • @cheeksn1 Hi and thanks for the comment. It is our pleasure to be of help to you. Please don’t hesitate to call us at 703.242.5885 if you would like to discuss your situation in more detail!

  • I'm currently writing a Personal Statement in support of an application to read an MA in Journalism in the United Kingdom. I found the points their video raised very helpful. Thank you

    Alex

  • @Alexspark005 Hi Alex. We are glad you found the video helpful. Please don't hesitate to call us at +1 703.242.5885 if you need any further help!

  • You say all this, but I bet you all the money in my bank account that if I told you what I really thought in my personal statement, it would be valued less than someone who made an attempt to write what you wanted to hear.

I'm not saying that you are lying, it is a natural part of human bias and its one of the reasons that scientific studies are done blind/double blind

  • @MasterTenku Hi and thanks for sharing your thoughts. We certainly understand your sentiments. The reason we made that statement is because as former admissions officers we feel that if the reasons are not sincere (e.g. you actually hate the whole concept of practicing law and only want to go to law school so you can make a lot of money), then perhaps law school isn’t really in your best interests.

  • @MasterTenku Should an admissions officer feel that you won’t likely utilize your law degree for quite some time after graduating, they will fear you will not get a good return on your investment and that may not have great things to say about their law school years later. Accordingly, they will ding you with the comforting feeling that they are actually doing you a favor.

  • he said the word 'consultant' more times in 0:03 - 0:08, than i did in my whole life!!!
