Yup... and DAoC has been around since October 2001. And until WoW came out it was the largest Fantasy MMO around. This last year, a lot of former players have been returning from WoW as the Variation in Characterization is so much more vivid and the graphics are so much better. this Video does a good job of outlining the diffrences between those two and LoTRO (Lord of the Rings Online).
@USSPinguin wow is from warcraft so technically wow has been around longer but and people are returning to wow for cataclysm and there will be a new class the expansion after cata if they go and the order they are now

Wow is such a terrible game. Daoc straight up owns it, but Doac has a learning curve that someone with an IQ less than 80 cant "get" so Wow gets more subs. Simplicity doesnt = good, it = every scrub can play it, so more people.
people who are complaining about him favoring DAOC, its just because daoc IS better than WoW and LOTR. Its not even a contest, if u have played all 3, which i have, daoc is by far the best. It has the most unique system of PvP, first MMORPG to introduce Realm versus Realm combat rather than the basic pvp combat which is in every mmorpg

The games are built to appeal to different kinds of gamers.. WoW is quest oriented and PvE oriented, LoTR seems more PvE and Story based, while DAOC is built really for the endgame RvR.
DAOC is still unbeaten, imo, in EndGame RvR. With the recent server merges a revival seems to be going on right now, but whether it will last more than a couple months remains to be seen.
@ducks668 how the hell is WoW more PvE orientated than PvP when their is only one true PvE class that's a hunter. And the hunter gets it fucking arse kicked in PvP.
In Wow every class can be fitted into 1 of 3 categories with no hybridization. thats Healer DPS or Tank. thats litterally it. No difference just the names. And hunters are annoying as hell in pvp
DAoc isnt dead its coming back kilbury is now up to 700 players and the new server is merging classic ,kilbury and devon servers thats 3000+ players if everyone comes back
THIS VID IS SUCH FAIL, Its saying that DAOC has 6 classes in each realm, wtf?!?!?! Albion has 16 classes, Midgard has 15, Hibernia has 16 -_-' there is FAR more variability in DAOC than any of the other games, and the PvP is far more advanced....
For those who havent played it... im sure youve played with a 2 realm war... imagine a war between 3 realms -_-' amazing.
Look at the utility, followed by the multiple possibilities in Guild Wars, DAOC has the most possibilities for uniqueness in PvP now. LvL Speccing, Champion Levels, Master Levels, Realm Ranks, Artifacts "which can now be earned thru PvP along with MLs." So yes, its far more advanced than any current game.
And many people liked it before TOA, which is why here in about 5 months, they are releasing DAOC Origins, I have all the info on it, but alls I can tell you is that they have already made OF.
try looking online for the 5th anniversary edition, or the Epic edition, online.... Or if you really want to play it, you can manually download all of the games off the camelotherald.... it can be frustrating, but they can guide you through the steps with customer support!
I wouldnt say so, imo the customisability is fantastic, however, it takes far too long to create one that even looks semi-decent, i don't like the look of most of them, they don't fall into the category of this video anyhow :) But i understand what you;re getting at.

WoW is the most flashiest out of all of them and appeal too younger population because of how cartoony the graphics are and the many different versions and flashyness of items/armor/weapons
well, If I had the money for a comp that could support these I'd probably try all of them, then choose from there (though flapping mouths have turned me sour against WoW >.> proof that incessant rantings can ruin something possibly good).
WoW is just one good game, that offers some good gameplay and challenging (to an extent) encounters. Pros are the plenty of widespread content it has, the unmatched abundance of addons and interface customization and various little things that will keep a person entertained for some time, in a way most MMOs though. Cons are the immature and blunt community in general which will require mature players to just run to some private guild, the lack of focused and pre-level-80 content

Umm yeah, hows this for dead... I was playing my warden earlier on the Devon cluster, and there was sixty, count it, SIXTY hibs in Thid. Devon is breaking 3k pop, not even during primetime. DAOC is not dead. The playerbase may be watered down, but it aint dead.
I think I know why people like one on one game not army on army that always play WoW or LoTR, people who like army on army play DAoC because DAoC pvp isn't lagging if you have like over 100 players from each 3 realms in one place, The biggest and long battle I even see in my life: 250 Albions, 200 Hibernias, and about 150 Midgards in one area, sorry I didn't take screenshot or video of it, WoW is lag as hell if you have about 40-45 players each 2 realms in city than AV. I dunno about LoTR.
Lotr combat is boring but the graphics are nice with dx10 and theres some nice lore. Daoc's just too dated and War is a failure, I played Daoc for 4 years and War got boring after 4 weeks.
daoc is not dead... its been called dead for years.. yet people always go back.. wow came out.. we played, we raided, we found the pvp really terrible.. we went back to daoc.. warhammer came out, its terrible.. argue all you want. it really sucks.. we went back to daoc.. wow wotlk came out.. lol lets all go grind again to end up with a terrible end game of either raiding or bad bad bad pvp.. back to daoc again.. you can argue games are beter than daoc, its nearly a decade strong =) still love it
LoTR beside houses has nothing to offer, why compare... DAoC is way better than WoW, only downside is that little people play it :/ such a waste, WAR is not making up for the experience you had in DAoC since now ev'ry MMO out there copies it and the feels is not that unique. I played it all.

is just a small thing but i dont understand why all this stupid game devs use lvl requirements? i mean daoc is 7 years old and you can put nearly every item on an lvl 1 charakter - the game know max dps for a lvl 1 is 1.3 DPS so he will get just 1.3 DPS from a lvl 51 weapon with 16.5 but you can use it... for me that was one of the parts that make daoc "feel" good :) i just say Sorc+ML9 pet+BB it was hard work after TOA release but i think the ultimate fun char :)

DAOC is still unbeaten, imo, in EndGame RvR. With the recent server merges a revival seems to be going on right now, but whether it will last more than a couple months remains to be seen.

In Wow every class can be fitted into 1 of 3 categories with no hybridization. thats Healer DPS or Tank. thats litterally it. No difference just the names. And hunters are annoying as hell in pvp

Should have used mid of hib for the creating demo, more "racial' variety than alb (wait, human, human, human, human, fishy, ogre... that's it).
AS much for the 6 starting clases (note I said starting);
there are only 4 for mids and for hibs, but you decline all of them by choosing your final class after lv 5.

DAoc isnt dead its coming back kilbury is now up to 700 players and the new server is merging classic ,kilbury and devon servers thats 3000+ players if everyone comes back

THIS VID IS SUCH FAIL, Its saying that DAOC has 6 classes in each realm, wtf?!?!?! Albion has 16 classes, Midgard has 15, Hibernia has 16 -_-' there is FAR more variability in DAOC than any of the other games, and the PvP is far more advanced....
For those who havent played it... im sure youve played with a 2 realm war... imagine a war between 3 realms -_-' amazing.

Look at the utility, followed by the multiple possibilities in Guild Wars, DAOC has the most possibilities for uniqueness in PvP now. LvL Speccing, Champion Levels, Master Levels, Realm Ranks, Artifacts "which can now be earned thru PvP along with MLs." So yes, its far more advanced than any current game.
And many people liked it before TOA, which is why here in about 5 months, they are releasing DAOC Origins, I have all the info on it, but alls I can tell you is that they have already made OF.

try looking online for the 5th anniversary edition, or the Epic edition, online.... Or if you really want to play it, you can manually download all of the games off the camelotherald.... it can be frustrating, but they can guide you through the steps with customer support!

I wouldnt say so, imo the customisability is fantastic, however, it takes far too long to create one that even looks semi-decent, i don't like the look of most of them, they don't fall into the category of this video anyhow :) But i understand what you;re getting at.

WoW is just one good game, that offers some good gameplay and challenging (to an extent) encounters. Pros are the plenty of widespread content it has, the unmatched abundance of addons and interface customization and various little things that will keep a person entertained for some time, in a way most MMOs though. Cons are the immature and blunt community in general which will require mature players to just run to some private guild, the lack of focused and pre-level-80 content

Umm yeah, hows this for dead... I was playing my warden earlier on the Devon cluster, and there was sixty, count it, SIXTY hibs in Thid. Devon is breaking 3k pop, not even during primetime. DAOC is not dead. The playerbase may be watered down, but it aint dead.

I think I know why people like one on one game not army on army that always play WoW or LoTR, people who like army on army play DAoC because DAoC pvp isn't lagging if you have like over 100 players from each 3 realms in one place, The biggest and long battle I even see in my life: 250 Albions, 200 Hibernias, and about 150 Midgards in one area, sorry I didn't take screenshot or video of it, WoW is lag as hell if you have about 40-45 players each 2 realms in city than AV. I dunno about LoTR.

Lotr combat is boring but the graphics are nice with dx10 and theres some nice lore. Daoc's just too dated and War is a failure, I played Daoc for 4 years and War got boring after 4 weeks.

i played all 3 and now am doing WAR..
First year daoc was also hard...after that was and is best end game out there.
WoW stole everything from other games and still does.
Its good pve game...for if ya like run the same dungeon 40 times a week. Also nice if ya like cheats and adons to run.
DAoC means ya play vs other players....pvp is hard wotrk...and no toon sis alike.

daoc is not dead... its been called dead for years.. yet people always go back.. wow came out.. we played, we raided, we found the pvp really terrible.. we went back to daoc.. warhammer came out, its terrible.. argue all you want. it really sucks.. we went back to daoc.. wow wotlk came out.. lol lets all go grind again to end up with a terrible end game of either raiding or bad bad bad pvp.. back to daoc again.. you can argue games are beter than daoc, its nearly a decade strong =) still love it

LoTR beside houses has nothing to offer, why compare... DAoC is way better than WoW, only downside is that little people play it :/ such a waste, WAR is not making up for the experience you had in DAoC since now ev'ry MMO out there copies it and the feels is not that unique. I played it all.

i hate to say it but DAOC is dead i have been playing it for 7 years but i stopped last year.. it stopped working all together the loads took to much time it took me like 30mins just to get on and off which is gay the game is really really cool and fun but its loading is rly bad

not really, you havnt seen the players now, i know a long time ago it was the shit, its still the shit but WoW is seriously a blatent copy of it... almost everything about it and if i was thumbed down for an opinion whoever did that is an opinion nazi :). i still like DAoC and if you chose not to play it thats your choice and i dont care what u do, but the point is i still have hope in it :) i really do hope it improves playerwise. theres still 10000 players @_@ thats not a whole lot i know :P

Its not dead, lol, me and my friends moved to War realized its rubbish and moved back to DAoC - Gareth server... the dumb part is all DAoC fans are saying the same stuff... aww its dead, well if we all moved back instead of crying its fix itself + origins is coming out. Move back to DAoC and restart the best PVP game ever!

DAOC kickes the most ass EQ2 that game is the lamest piece of garbage ever to take your 14.00 a month after level mid 30ish the game levels suck major ass. Boring Ultima Oline is teh best RPG I ever had the privileged to play.

is just a small thing but i dont understand why all this stupid game devs use lvl requirements? i mean daoc is 7 years old and you can put nearly every item on an lvl 1 charakter - the game know max dps for a lvl 1 is 1.3 DPS so he will get just 1.3 DPS from a lvl 51 weapon with 16.5 but you can use it... for me that was one of the parts that make daoc "feel" good :) i just say Sorc+ML9 pet+BB it was hard work after TOA release but i think the ultimate fun char :)
