The ironic thing is that when 1939 came, Clark's movie defeated Judy's: "Gone with the Wind" fought and won against "The Wizard of Oz" for Best Picture.
I first saw this in a feature on the Gone With The Wind Blu-ray edition that told the story of Clark Gable's life and his career. I think it's a wonderful tribute song to him, and Judy is the BEST person to ever sing this song. R.I.P to both of them.
what a sweet voice our beloved Miss Judy had... it's a rotten shame she ruined it with pills and booze... imagine if she were still alive today... would Liza be as popular as she is? I doubt it... even at 90 y.o. Miss Judy would still be outshining that no-talent Liza mess
She is the best thing that ever happened in Hollywood. Nothing or no one compares to her talent, in my opinion. She is my inspiration. A truly beautiful person, inside and out <3
the most amazing talent to ever come out of hollywood in the first half of the 20th century. But the most amazing thing is that clark gable as long as he lived dreaded every birthday as he was dreading the thought of judy jumping out of a cake singing this song. see this song first had it debut at a celebration of his birthday hosted by louis b. mayer on the backlots at mgm
This is it. The film clip that propelled Judy to stardom. It still has the power it had then. Her fabulous talent, the gift to let you see inside, was on display for the world to see and love. After Over The Rainbow, it was superstardom.
No Judy you made me love you!
