Personally, I like a lot of Neo-soul artists such as him, Floetry, Raheem DeVaughn, Anthony Hamilton, Erykah Badu, Jill Scott, Goapele, Amel Larriuex, and Maxwell. Some of these great artists aren't getting the recognition as they should be. But if you want to make a hit and sell millions I guess you got to have the right mind set before writing and producing a song. Hell, let me stop I am not here to preach to anyone! LOL!!!

The "originality" (in the music) is what they're afraid of. The chords to this song are gorgeous, and very sophisticated, for R&B. I'm talkin' 'bout a level of sophistication up there with George Gershwin, not just your everyday songwriter/composer. It's got a bit of a Al Green feel to it, but again, very sophisticated musically. You can tell by the Take Sixish background vocal arrangement :-) D min, Ab dim, G, chromatic walk back up to D min. Friggin' great for soloing over, on a sax :-)
