Also, I found this PC to be somewhat slow for me. If it isn't buffed to death, it's a pretty lame melee. If it's going to be spell casting mode, it won't be able to use mage spells (pre-defined and limited by the minor levelling) to buff (and hey, the elemental protection, improved haste, etc are

@sherr1980 That's the point that he beats them with "weaker" character. There is nothing special in slaying opponents with kensai/mage as it is one of the strongest fighters.

All those videos where people kill normal bosses are funny. This one is one from few really worth watching.

i have several questions about your "legit solo attempt"

first off.. if your character is legit how come u have 10k bullets for your sling when the ammo cap is 20 per slot, how come u say a spell that totally prevents slayer form from being used allows you to use slayer form for a long time without taking dmg... and lastly why are there so many weak monsters in your irenicus fight...ive beaten the game thru many patches and THAT isnt any of the fights with him.

10k stack comes from Tweakpack or Ease of Use mods, infinite stacking of gems and amunition is hardly game breaking.

The ammo cap is forty per slot surely.

I assume you mean Protection from Magical Energy. That doesn't prevent you becoming the slayer, it just blocks the magic damage from staying in slayer form for too long.

Weak monsters being dragons and beholders, as opposed to feeble demons? It's a difficulty enhancing mod, not a cheat

the 1000 stones is from a mod that lets you stack higher

the dragon is a mod too guess

@Toastbrot40 The dragon is due to the Tactics mod which makes the game more difficult, especially boss battles (hence dragon etc).

He can carry more stones because of TweakPack (I think, maybe FixPack), another mod, they can be used to fix problems in the game, most of the changes are pretty pointless but one is infinite potion/gem/ammution stacking.

He is not cheating, he is simply using mods and this battle is rather annoying did it today. Without creeping doom or having access to a cleric/mage, it can be rather annoying.

I loved Tactics, but this fight wasn't hard: it was gay. Irenicus w/ unlimited spells fails.

I did manage to beat it solo, but this is the only Tactics fight I actually did not appreciate.

1. 00:43 to 1:22 you seem to be chain casting a large amount of spells. I would understand if you had Improved Alacrity, but still there is no way those spells could be cast without you doing the animation for at least a second or two. I.E. It looks heavily modded or you might be cheating.

2. At 4:44...is that...a stack of 1200 Sling Bullets!?

3. Tactics Mod is a considerable step up in difficulty. I would ask how you soloed Watchers Keep...or Twisted Rune for your Staff of the Magi.

1. Robe of vecna reduces spell casting by 4 to 0. Instant cast (pause/unpause).

3. Simple. It's not hard at all. Turn undead kills any liches/vampires, Improved alac with vecna lets you cast everything in your spellbook with ease.

This is nothing to the improved ilyich component of Tactics. I just recently beat this mod on insane with an archer/cleric. I feel bad though, sine I did it with full xp for kills, not 10% like usual.

Staff of the Ram +4, Errinyes Sling, Staff of the Magi, Flail of Ages +3, Robe of Vecna, Greenstone Amulet, Cloak of Protection +2, Boots of Speed, Ring of Gaxx, Holy Symbol, Ring of Inertial Barrier, Helm of Balduran, Bracers of Extraordinary Specialisation or something (Final Seal battle in Watchers Keep drops them I think), a lot of scrolls in cases, I think a Melf's Minute Meteors and a Wand of Spell Striking.

@ottirb Oh and Storm Star +3. The pre-buffs, well my eyesight isn't very good so I can't read the icons on the portrait but that should account for most of them. At a guess I'd say - Stoneskins, haste, each of the 'Protection from [Element]' spells, some fear protecting spell, a high level mage spell which gives protection to all elements, Negative Plane Protection, Free Action, Chaotic Commands, possibly some Spell Immunities, Mirror Image, the two Blade Barrier spells, the Spell Trap from SotM

The whole fight is propably modded to the moon, as all the hostile adds and several extra phases in the fight aren't from the original. I'd say it's even more difficult in this one.

The recommended single player run is Sorc. I've done it as dual-class Swashbuckler/Mage. It's also been done with thief (using "use any item" to play fake mage for the big fights) and with Cleric/Ranger, though I'm not sure how many have been done with the tactics mod.

Pretty much any class that contains mage can pull it off, it just requires some abuse of simulacrum/mirror/wish resting.

Kensai couldn't do it single class, but Kensai is lame without the mage dual class.

to all those saying you'll be stuck with a lvl1 that can't kill after dual spec to cleric:

1.3m xp from deck of many things... boom lvl 13... granted its sort of a cheese to get this reward 100% by saving and reloading but its no different from doing that for an encounter...

no idea what ud do after that, perhaps export/kill mobs that "waylay" 1000x

That must be a mod to prevent that because even if you have that protection you will die anyway even though you will take no damage. Eventually the game will trigger a forced instant death.

The character would have had 4 million experience in the wizard class (level 21)

AND *THEN*

RESTARTED at level ONE and had to play (solo) from ZERO experience all the way to level 22 BEFORE the wizard powers were available again.

THAT'S what makes it impossible. You CANNOT solo BGII from level 1 without cheating.

In order to DUAL CLASS, you have to advance in the first class (until level 21 in this case). Then, you change to ANOTHER CLASS which starts at LEVEL ONE. ZERO XP.

You CANNOT play BGII as a LEVEL ONE character at the stage in the game where you already have FOUR MILLION XP. YOU WILL DIE IN EVERY FIGHT. Within ten seconds.

I see your point, but you'd die as a level 1 character at the start of BGII as well unless you stood in the corner cowering while the rest of the party does all the work. You would almost certainly still die however, since all the other characters are level 8 at the start of the game.

That would still make the character a 'cheating' character, even though it hasn't been hacked.

There's not much you can do with 6 hit points in a level 8 campaign...

u actually would've had to dual sometime in the middle of ToB, cuz the lvl cap in BDII is something like 2mil. i don't think its that hard to do, considering anything u do in ToB is worth thousands of exp

(1) You know, after a few years, I tried to do a similar PC to this one. SoA and ToB installed and Ascension and Tactics mod on top, for flavors. It was really fast to get to 4M XP with mage by entering Watcher's Keep around level 14. Then, dualed to Cleric.

The trick is: whenever you have a quest that requires you to go back to talk to someone in order to get the reward, do all the quest, but the last talking. If you do so, you gather some XP pretty fast:

@Qualidor (3) so you start halfway through to level 10, but well equiped (Flail of Ages +3, Shield of Balduran, Plate of Balduran, Sling of Everard, Cloak of Sewers...) and still have quite a lot of things to gather XP even before going to Chapter 3 (this nets around 45k XP figth-free also).

It's plainly feasible! As a side note, after level 11, you can just rest a lot on Temple of Shadow and you're meeting shadows that may be trapped in the room. Free unlimited XP for turning them!

There is no "cheats" used. The extra abilities comes from the different mods. However, there is a lot of what I would like to call "abuse" being used. Skillfully taking advantage of the games scripting to be able to perform feats not intended by the programmers.

Still, very good play. Few people would be able to solo that fight.

This is the ring that clerics normally get once they reach 25th level. Actually there are 3 different rings and you get one according to your alignment (good/neutral/evil, I think this one is good).

Yeah that's the good symbol of lathander, If you're neutral you get a symbol of helm, if you're evil you get a symbol of talos.

I did it without problem with my Warrior/Mage, but this video is good as well... again, it all depends on tactic, I had 17 Warrior/20 Mage dual class and after 2 scrolls of Timestop Sarevok, Dragon and Dark Sword went down, after that it was quiet easy. ;)

This is not standard BG2, its part of the Tactics mod. Tactics changes some parts of BG2 completely, amongst others the fight against Irenices in hell.

Mhm... I assume you used Dispel Magic to dispel the Slayer's "paws" and thus increase your number of attacks per round quite a lot (up to 10, with Improved Haste if I'm not mistaken).

An interesting idea indeed. Maybe a bit cheesy, but still... clever.

But I'm curious why you don't use the character's immense spellcasting abilities more ^^
