@EmiLy27752 ohh wicked.. actually this is embarrassing but i was looking at a jesse mcartney clip and saw this at the end and thought 'that looks damn familar' and then *click*
Good Ol' Hyde Park......sigh....I look upon this tune as background to some of my more coloured moments spent there after dark. Where aimless drunk wonderings were had hand-in-hand from a night on the tiles. Happy times. : )
These guys are an odd band. I remember seeing them in Perth around the time they released their first CD and they were a fairly bland, generic pop/rock band. Then they disappeared for about a year and came back with these killer tunes. Excellently composed, very well played and wonderfully produced. It's like they did a Bill & Ted; went back in time, spent 10 years working on their craft and then came back to the future with these gems.
Once upon a time, a very, very long time ago, ie pre Eskimo Joe, Kav and Joel? were in a three piece called Freud's Pillow in Perth for a few years, allowing them to develop their skills and somewhat equipping them with a go-to-ground-and rebirth-as-something-else-tendency. Hence different songs and a different sound. All three members also have a habit of playing in other bands which probably helps for stylistic range.
i have bad memories of hyde park. i was staying at hyde park inn (hotel) and a guy got murdered in hyde park. and i was only 12! but i really like this song and eskimo joe.
blue water high is great...come to America and you'll really see some pathetic excuses for television...Blue Water HIgh offers some hope atleast...if you find that sad don't come to America i can't wait to get out.
Hahahaha. That makes me feel so much better. In Australia we still see a lot of American programs like The Bold And the Beautiful or what ever it's called. And especially the hour long ads that run at night. Seriously, no one buys into it. They have no market in Australia. We are lucky to have some of the TV that we do. Compared to some other stuff from other places I've seen...
Well, Joel and Stu performed to the song at half its tempo so that, when the footage was sped back up to the normal tempo, you get that visual effect. I guess they do the same kind of thing at different degrees throughout the video.
Still one of my fav songs after all these years.

i do not get how they shot this.
stop motion body but real-time face?
bundas 3 years ago
They play the song back on a much slower setting, so when it's sped up again his mouth moves at a normal rate but his body much faster. Yeah?
Wannachup 3 years ago
you mean you think he just sang it really slow, and then they sped it up to the normal speed?
