Archos 5 (60GB)

This looks really nice besides the ultra gloss. A few questions, i had my first archos which was a 404 a while ago, the flaw with that was that it was slow, and sometimes (which got progressively worse) during a song it would crash and reboot.

So i moved onto the 604 which had the exact same flaw and its getting worse. Also when i click songs, because i have alot its slow even loading the folders.

Does this problem persist in this model too?

If so, i'd be stuck for what else to get =\

You're thinking of waaaaay back with the 4th generation Archos. Archos Technologies has long since discontinued support for the device, yet it continues support for the 5th generation 605 wifi and 705 models, which will probably be for a limited time, again, with the release of the Android-based 6th generation Archos 5. Either way, your best bet is with this better, newer, linux-based OS, although I'd go for Droid, no doubt, if you have the cash for it, of course.

Archos 5 is a divine piece of elemental proportions. It is beautifully sculpted to perfec tion and lovely. My friend has one and it is fantastic. Worth every penny.

i definitely don't really like cnet's videos. it almost seems like they downgrade everything. i've never had a problem with my archos 5, in fact i'm more than happy with it's capabilities and im pretty sure its one the best if not the best imt pmp on the market

umm so far no major problems

actually there really arent any, the only one is that if u touch the screen too much when ur browsing the internet it restarts the device, but u really have to be constantly touching it a lot kinda fast

I Have,

I've got the 160 gigs version. Touch screen doesn't reply at all! (even the calibration can't be completed). Contacted Archos 5 months ago. 'till now i've called them 23 times and send over 8 e-mails. Havn't received a reply on any of the mails, and also the Archos supervisor isn't replying me.

I've send it to the repair station 2 times, and they failed to see any faults! :O (i wonder how they managed that).

nah, because wifi will be able to access any wireless network and connect to the internet as long as you know the wep code or if its unsecured, but you don't have to pay

aslo the touch part of it is shitty because its like buttons are under the screen it is so gay because you can opperate it with a pencil but you cant do that with an ipod touch

DO NOT PURCHASE THIS ITEM! I bought this at Future Shop. My movies were freezing, and I would have to reboot the whole thing. I exchanged it for a new one and it did the same thing. The games on it suck and are expensive. The GPS costs money. Finger prints collect so eaily. It is heavy! it is big. The back scratches easily just moving it around on a desk! Barely can fit in your pocket.

TWO WORDS: BUYERS NIGHTMARE!!!

i got mine a future shop . gor no problems. internet works great. movies dont lag at all.

when you purchase thing like that you should already know that it woulb be heavy and big. anyway scratches on the back is not very important because it doesnt affect the Archos. the only thing that is a bit of a shame is that the screen is glossy and fingerprints are very apparent. just clean it and you are good to go

What BS battery life hasnt decrease, on the contary its increased. Also the Archos 5 has loads of accessories now including the much improved DVR staiton with HDMI Also the 120gb and 250gb versions have a rubber back which doesnt hold any finger prints.

you can get games on them pretty easily... it comes with the option of archos sponsored games that cost like $10, or you can download some online (duck hunt... or pretty much any mouse games)... it doesnt have its own software. but songbird by mozilla is jussst like it
