  • Love guys like Randi, Banachek and Derren Brown. They are doing a great service debunking paranormal rubbish. Psychics ,palm readers are all frauds.I suspect some truly believe that they have powers and don't intentionally mean to be frauds but these guys are just delusional reading too much into small coincidences. They look/cling to evidence to support there claims not for evidence against which they just dismiss anyway. Like the guys in the video and there excuses for the tests not working.

  • Rather than Jersey Shore and American Idol, can we have tv shows dedicated to debunking psychics like this?

  • These magic tricks are sold in magic stores. Buy some! Start your own challenge. No one can beat you.

  • The JREF was started by FRAUDS!!!!!

  • ABC was SCAMMED!!!!!!! While they did this the co-founder of the JREF was in jail for FRAUD!!!!!!! They got Flim Flammed by Randi... LOL

  • @professorhoodoo

    "ABC was SCAMMED" How?

"While they did this the co-founder of the JREF was in jail for FRAUD" Which co-founder? Guilt by association and non sequitur ring any bells by the way?¨

"They got Flim Flammed by Randi" Again, how?

  • @wimsweden

Jose Alvarez is/was randi's partner in the JREF inc. He's an Illegal Alien as you well know and randi's BOY TOY..LOL

Banachek just uses what appear to be magic tricks you can buy at any magic shop.

The FBI have arrested randis buddy for FRAUD .. They are partners in the JREF and the SCAM!!!!

  • @professorhoodoo

"as you well know" No, I didn't, but I just read about it on the JREF forum.

If José Alvarez (if that is his name) stole someone's identity that is a serious crime which should be prosecuted. However, I don't see how the co-operation between Banachek, ABC and the alleged psychics suddenly becomes a "scam" because of that. That's still a non-sequitur.

  • @wimsweden

The whole organization was started by a FRAUD!!! The whole tree and it's fruit is TAINTED!!!!! They will soon owe the IRS millions and the fraud will be punished. they are stalling looking for a loophole now!

  • @wimsweden Exactly, my cousin's oldest son robbed a bank, he did 10 years for it. How does that make me unqualified to look objectively at test results? I've worked in many labs, I can read a chart and I've had a 300 level statics class. Because of that background, I knew from the start of the show that 1 in 12 is about the odds of guessing for tests like these. Who cares what my private associations are? How does that affect the task at hand? How does that affect that I was right?

  • @professorhoodoo What does that have to do with the fact that none of those hippies had psychic powers?

  • HAHA The first guy is wearing a Power Balance bracelet! That's pure GOLD!

Not only is he a fake, he's been fooled himself!

  • No no no.

We should have just let them do the tests the way they wanted to, so they cant complain about it.

They always agree and then bash on how the test was done afterwards.

  • @gulbirk as far as I know, the JREF protocol is very clear about mutual agreement on the chosen test; they don'ttell you what you have to prove under what circumstances, but you have to work out some kind of protocol which you yourself can agree upon. so basically, it's the tests they wanted.

  • @meslud That's what I was thinking too. If these people weren't happy with the test they shouldn't have agreed to do them in the first place. No one forced them to do anything.

  • @tgerber04

But the fraudulent JREF says APPLY APPLY APPLY ...IF YOU HAVE POWERS APPLY ... The test is actually for a Paranormal Event!

  • 05:18

If he doesnt work in a creative field he things in a creative way?

OH come on, that applies to 90% of us.

  • I hate it when people like that guy in the coment section try to defend it by complaining and making up stuff.

I dont give a shit about how much james randi makes, it doesnt prove anything.

If people truly had supernatural powers they would just demonstrate it and be done with it. But they CANT demonstrated it, ever. THey fail and come up with excuses and lies and complain that the challenge is a fraud.

  • @gulbirk

No one with a chance to win is allowed to take the challenge ... The Divination Project beat the odds but they refused to let them challenge ... CHEATERS!!!!

  • @professorhoodoo Nonsense. Everyone is allowed to take the challenge.

  • Google "The Myth of the Million Dollar Challenge". The Daily Grail website also has an interesting article about this particular video. I see Randi has just launched another fundraiser for the JREF. Anyone know how much the JREF pays Randi and his pals? Are skeptics ever skeptical about the behavior of the shining lights of the skeptical community? Or does their skepticism just go one way?

  • @ar4216

LOL. I always find that particular "argument" the most far-fetched. If it was all about money for James Randi and he had no ethics, then he would be raking in the millions by doing what frauds like John Edward et al are doing.

"Are skeptics ever skeptical about the behavior of the shining lights of the skeptical community?" You haven't been following the whole "Don't be a dick" and "Elevatorgate" discussions, have you?

  • @wimsweden According to Randi hes' been getting paid around $200,000 per year by the non-profit JREF since he founded it in 1996. I'm familiar with the "don't be a dick" kerfluffle as well as the recent skepchick/Dawkins dust up. But I'm talking about the disingenuous behavior of folks like Randi. Read the article about this video and read the article "The Myth of the Million Dollar Challenge". Are you open minded enough to realize this is merely an unfair propaganda tool used to bash psi?

  • @ar4216

"Read the article about this video and read the article "The Myth of the Million Dollar Challenge"." I did, and also read Randi's "The Grubbies Attack" response to the latter.

"unfair propaganda tool used to bash psi?" I don't see that. It's certainly an effective publicity tool, but paranormalists "bash" themselves by failing every time they're under controlled conditions. The Swedish skeptics have a similar challenge where both parties agree on the test conditions.

  • @wimsweden "If it was all about money for James Randi and he had no ethics, then he would be raking in the millions"

Let's see, around $200,000 per year since 1996- that's what Randi admits his non-profit has been paying him since 1996. That's $3,000,000. I guess Randi has been raking in the millions- at the expense of his non-profit. :)

By the way, Randi just launched another fundraising drive begging for his followers to make monthly donations. You might want to get in on that.

  • @ar4216

Do you have a source for the salary, which is still peanuts compared to popular psychics' ?

  • @wimsweden A 2009 article in the SF Weekly:

"According to tax records, Randi's organization lost nearly a quarter of its $2 million overall worth last year. (The $1 million for the challenge is held in a separate, Goldman Sachs account.) Randi takes an annual salary of about $200,000, which he justifies by saying that it's in line with what he was making as an entertainer and hasn't been adjusted much in the 13 years since the foundation was started."

  • @ar4216

Thanks. I'll check it out. :-)

  • @wimsweden No problem. All the best and thanks for the video and thanks for not being a "dick". ;-)

  • Every psychic scammer on earth should be beaten to death in front of a live audience.

  • @Nebzz

Someone forgot to take their chill pill this morning. No one should be beaten to death anywhere.

  • @wimsweden ya they should, they are psychic they can magic the death away.

  • Was anyone really surprised?

  • Grym video!

  • @Endrit88

Banachek och Randi är grymma. :-)

  • The best part was all the excuses! LOL

  • The self-deceptive force is strong with these.

  • Nice video!

James Randi has, over the years, played a major role in developing my skepticism with regard to paranormal and supernatural claims.

  • @markdzima

    "Nice video!" Thanks.

"James Randi has, over the years, played a major role ..." I hope that people like Banachek and DJ Grothe become just as effective and charismatic as Randi.
