  • GREAT BAND & A GREAT SONG - Intense

  • lost some good lads since these days , mod on ,miles before there time

  • by the way bigbuddha, the track is off Setting Sons not Mod Cons

  • fucking awsome!!! Those yanks didn't know what hit 'em!!

  • Crazy when you realize they were only 22 here.

  • Excellent version of this track off of All Mod Cons ... The Jam were at the top of their game in 1980 ... thank you for sharing this ... we'd of never of seen this in the UK ...

  • God this is good;.

    Cheers for the upload..

  • Some of the best lyrical commentary against the mundane nature of middle class lifestyle ever written.

  • I'd have like to have seen a lot more of that guy at the beginning. He was probably regarded as call 50 years ago

  • We idiots in the states were too busy listening to crap like the Eagles at the time to appreciate The Jam's genius. "Town Called Malice" is probably their best known song in the US, and that's barely known.

  • ah yes, a time when they had GOOD MUSICAL GUESTS on these types of shows... I'm always reminded of that when seeing the shit they have on Saturday Night Live now

  • THE JAM RULE the A n R suck if they couldnt make these guys famous!!

  • im crying

  • eh, what to say????

    Brilliant!

  • The Jam, Gang of Four, and XTC should have been bigger than the Clash.

  • @ralphtherogue the jam were bigger than them all in the uk- i love the clash but the jam are the biz- ps you forgot the damned!

  • Awesome! You can really hear how intricate Buckler's bass was in this tune. The muddy production on Setting Sons doesn't do it justice.

    The Jam Forever!

  • ok bruce's vocal a bit loud but this is one of England's greatest bands ripping it up - bliss...

  • Yes, it would be really nice! The Jam,again!! I appreciate Paul's work, but Jam was the first league ...

  • Make those Yanks have it !

  • Great lyrics, which are so relevant to today!!!

    The GREATEST band ever!!

Great memories and my fave JAM song.

  • taut, twitchy, barely restrained aggression and poignant lyrics.... one of my fave! best 3 piece i know of!

  • When people mention great lyrics, they always mention the late 60's Beatles or some up and coming two bit rap act..personally I don't think anything got close to the frankness of the "Setting Sons" era Paul Weller..

  • Paul Weller is economic intensity personified.

  • The Arctic Monkeys would be nothing without The Jam.

  • so so true

  • I can't believe this was 30 years ago...damn I'm old! I remember watching this and being mesmerized!

  • This song is 30 years old just like me.. You could be forgiven for thinking it was maybe 10-15 years ago. The jam just sound better than ever in todays spoon fed world.

  • I remember having just bought "in the city" and being blown away by their raw energy and youthful idealism. A stellar performance given by one of the most influential and innovative bands from the 80s. Thanks for posting.

  • great band ,great song, great lyrics nothing will be as intense and honest as the jam were in music ever again.......

  • The Jam, one of the best bands ever, is on top form here, with the toughest song about marriage that I know. The guitars look great and they are very elegant; it could be 2009, though 29 years have passed. Oddly, my memory remembered seeing this live on tv with them wearing white suits.

Thank you for uploading this jewel, Artstar.

  • @xensboy Yes marriage is not all peaches and cream; it must tkae committment. People aren't going to look like beauty queens the rest of their lives. I heard a statement from Grace Slick a while ago "Nobody likes to be around old people, because it reminds them of their own death." The Jam rulz!!

  • Most underated BANDS IN HISTORY

  • @dacritter right...so talented but still so underrated..

  • @dacritter Underrated? How so? They had LOTS of hit singles!

  • @SoulstylistJukebox not very big in u s a,far more talented than most junk in last 25 years

  • @SoulstylistJukebox They never had any hit singles or albums in the U.S.

  • @SoulstylistJukebox I know what dacritter means, as it goes. They never achieved the God-like status that they truly deserved! Well, not amongst the general populace, anyhoos. I reckon they're in a different league than The Eagles or Bruce Springsteen or Michael Jackson, for example...

  • @dacritter In the US maybe. In the UK there was nothing underrated about this band.

  • @talkingwall thats my point underrated in usa not where you are.

  • "The morning slips away in a valium haze and catalogues, and numerous cups of coffee." Brilliant

  • Great clip - thanks for posting.
