Looks very similar to a dance the kids are doing these days called Jumpstyle. Do a YouTube search for examples..

Yes but as you said you weren't part of the scene. Northern Soul, although it died back whilst all the people involved raised families and generally got on with life, has reemerged from the underground scene it was too a very lively and active scene that it is now Literally hundreds of nights all over the country Those wearing these clothes are adding to the ambience of the nights and following a scene close to.their Hearts. Dress Code included, its what they woreThe Mods do it2 .

they are both awsome dancers the lady is good at the stomp belive it or not its a kind of folk dance the lady would have been a star in my day at wigan her moves are coolness it was a combo of the moves and beat that made you look good on the floor some of us also use to dance to jazz funk i only ever did a back flip twice in the wigan hall it was always packed out .... dance dust was used alot of sliding sand thanks for sharing...im subbing to ya.

They are both ex Wigan, are stalwarts on the scene, which they have helped keep going along with other like minded people, for us to rejoin and enjoy. The dance they are doing is only done to this record and is very energetic if you can keep going.

You could also try Friends Reunited Connections, click on message board, click on music, look for Northern Soul/Motown and click on that to join a very knowledgable crowd who get to most gigs up and down the country.

This weekender is as Cosmopolitan as it gets, people from literally all over the British Isles attend. It is one of the best during the year. Loads of Welsh people there so why not give it a visit, our gang rebook the Hotel before we leave, and get the tickets as soon as they are on sale.

Depends where you live, but there are loads of Northern Soul nights all over and you get a fair sprinkling of the more Uptempo Motown Tracks played. Just Google what you want i'm sure you will get something come up.

Something I always liked about the northern scene was that if you weren't up there with the top dancers it didn't matter, jsut enjoy yourself, which is exactly what these two are doing so who cares what they are doing? If you call it the Jump thats fine with all on here, i have never heard any style of Northern Soul dancing labled as such, but there are distinct styles to different songs. Only the best dancers try different styles as well and this couple are definately in the good dancer bracket, as on the floor they do dance in the different styles depending on the record playing, unlike 80% of the rest of us, who have one way of dancing and stick to it But our enthusiasm is up there with the rest,

However, altho' that guy making all those blatantly ridiculous comments is obviously a nobba, and I don't doubt this woman has some other fine moves, her dancing here just makes her look like Bez from Happy Mondays. Not the best moves I've seen but she is loving it which is all that matters.

The guy in the background was really showing the moves but i only noticed him after i had played it back. He is good though.

If your thinking of Whitby i'd book quickly, most of us rebook guest houses and hotels whilst we are there for next year, and most have already done so. If your talking Northern Soul music i can only think of Personally by Bobby Paris, this was covered in the 70's when Northern Soul was very popular by Wigans Ovation. Other than that a 60's song by that name was a hit for a male with a very highish voice, but not sure who his name was. Ray.

Hi,yes it is amazing to watch these people dance like they do. And most are in there 50's. The Northern Soul scene is quite a rare thing in that it has lasted since the late 60's which is why all these folks are the age they are. You should have seen them dancing when they were in there 20's.
