i hav the same color.but now my younger bro uses this one.now i hav a gary fisher x-cal 29er the green./black/white color.i must say.its a beautiful bike
I love my Fisher Tass, which is not nearly 3 years old.
My own caveat is the Genesis geometry tends to want to "push" through loose corners, but other than they it has proven to be the most versatile hardtail I've ever ridden, including much more expensive rides even.
I have extensively upgraded my Tass, but even stock is outperformed anything in its range.
Hardtailers are the true mountain bikers. Fully-suspended is awesome, I know, but I bet my handling skills are superior than yours! ha
I bought this bike 2 weeks ago, LOVE IT! I went out every day on this for at least a lil 5 mile singletrack ride until this weekend... :( (Dropped like 30 degrees and rained...). I like everything about it but the seat, fork and recently rear deraileur. However, I absolutely, ABSOLUTELY recommend this to anyone.
dude, yall talking about these hydraulic brakes, you really dont need hydraulic. you look at the bb7s online and the reviews so many people say that these mechanical disc brakes are better than any hydraulic. i took of the hydraulic brakes of my bike to upgrade to these bb7s but thats a pretty sweet bike but you really need dual suspension
I agree with the statement about the breaks. There is so much less maintenance, and you get so much power for the cheapest worth it disk set up. They just have a different feel than hydros.
i have gary fisher marlin and i fall more and more deeply inlove with it every time it ride it. ive never rode anything that even remotely compares, and im not even saying that in a 'its mine so i have to be proud of it' sort of way. if someone else owned a gary fisher and i didnt, i'd gladly mutilate my own bike just to make sure the gary fisher bike knew i still was true to it
I've been doing my homework the last month for a new hardtail, and I really like the Marlin. I only wish it came with a Tora instead of a Dart2. I know the Piranha comes with a Tora but I don't really need the Piranha's hydraulic brakes, and its $850 price tag is a little out of my budget.
I said I don't need them because I don't do any wet or muddy riding, and right now I'd rather put the money toward a nicer fork. Plus, I can always upgrade to hydro brakes later. But thanks for the info.
Im gettin one on saturday!! i cant wait! are those the pedals that come with it cuz they are the same ones i have now and i dont want to sell my old bike with those on it if the fisher doesnt come with them.
Beautiful bike. Keep the wheels pointed down. I was riding my Diamondback with 120mm RockShox Dart 2 with G2 for about 6 months. I recently switched to a Marzocchi 44 TST2. Its like night and day. If you are going to change one thing on that wonderful looking bike, I would said go to a Air Coil front fork.
Thanks, I agree with you on the fork, It,s like a pogo stick, just about every time , I am flying over the bars because of them and thats with the rebound adjusted down......
they are all really good bikes ..... ride each one of them........... get the one that feels the best for you..... I really enjoy mine alot..... Thats my opinion ......
how funny, thank you.... her name is Madison, she goes with me on every mtb adventure..... she is a rabbit and deer chaser , but i dont know what she would do if she caught one....
I just got one of these and i pretty much love it, but i kinda wish that the suspension could be tightened more, as i like pretty tough shocks sometimes, but besides that, i pretty much love it so far.
I'm going to try it in shop soon, the genesis 2 seems to be much advance from first generation - got to try it :) rock shox is awesome, my friend had one in used bike like 4 years and it was very comfortable, hopefully this one is a lot better cause newer :D
Would you reccommend this for me for my first race bike? Right now all I have is a piece of crap to ride around town and a dirt jumper bike for Ray's MTB. Is it a good climber?
I would'nt think this bike would be in the catagory of " race bike". but is a good all around light trail, single track, bike.... I am just getting back into mountain bikin..... and really love this bike. i''ve rode a few others and this one was the right one for me... bought my marlin toward the end of ridding season and have put 80 miles of off road trail ridding so far... this fisher has been great other than a broken chain... and for climbing ..... this really climbs great...
Good call on the G2. I have been shopping around for the past month and I have ridden everything that is in the same price range as the 09 Piranha and there doesnt seem to be much competition. I can't say for sure as I haven't been able to ride the bikes for more than 10 mins, but the Fisher stands out for sure. Get mine in two weeks and cant wait! Enjoy the ride.
after the first 10 miles the chain snapped on me.... not a big deal other than the walk back to the truck. I did change the bars out to a wider bar and put diff. grips on. I ride alot of single track tech. trails and weigh a little over 200lbs. bike has held up great. In the cold weather the front forks seem to stiffin up... has been a great bike so far.. climbs great too...
GET A WAHOO! there better if there not reply to me and tell me why

MrSupafly14 1 year ago
whats with the disc? i mean what is the diffrence between marlin and marlin disc or wahoo and wahoo disc?
Alu142 1 year ago
@Alu142 the difference is the brakes, wheels, hubs, cranks, etc.

@06flst so is it worth to spend more money for marlin disc or not really??
