THC is not more harmful than ethanol. Smoking marijuana (inspected, unpolluted with heroin or any other dangerous chemical) should be as legal as drinking vodka (inspected, unpolluted with methanol or any other dangerous chemical). Driving under the influence of marijuana, using it in public places, using it by children should be as illegal as the same acts with alcohol.

@RPM11111 Ok. That is shown to be the case. First of all, their already susceptible, it's a genetic disposition. Second, it's only schizophrenia. I have mental illness and know how terrible it is... But alcohol kills people. I've watched my own cousins boyfriend die from alcoholism. So sure it might cause Schizophrenia to come out earlier, but it's already in that persons genes. But you can't diss it cause it affects 1.2% of the population

The government needs scapegoats. I think that's partly why it's been prohibited for so long, with no evidence or reason to keep it at the level of "harm" that it is now. One of the most profitable, useful substances on the planet, one of the few natural un-altered drugs available to man. No addictive properties, minimal health risks(which can go hand and hand with addiction)medical benefits, and now there's reason to believe it is potentially beneficial in recreational use. Why else would it be?

It is not a matter of it being potentially harmful, or helpful. Nor if it leads to "worse" drugs or not. It is only when persons attached an immorality value to its consumption that cries for its criminalization arose. No different than the silliness in the States in the 30's with alcohol... the Christian Temperance Union.

It is amazing to me that the government doesn't legalize marijuana. We are spending money on putting people in prison for it when we could save that money and also receive tax dollars from its legal sale much like we get from liquor stores. I'm guessing the drug cartels have a powerful lobby that keeps our government officials from legalizing marijuana.

@patrickledford420 hes not talking about legalizing the use of it hes talking about the de-criminalization of it. noone should just take drugs because it feels good, that IS harmful regardless of what you think. ive seen people ruined by smoking pot, then THEY go on telling people its not harmfull. it doesnt bother me when people have a little bit once in a blue moon for maybe sleeping problems or pain or just to make a terrible night pass a little more smoothly.

@patrickledford420 i have a bigger problem with alcohol because people think its ok to just scull as much as you can for as long as you can where most stoners just like to chill. but i have seen people that are addicted to pot (and yes i know theres no such thing as a chemical addiction with pot its just habitual) lash out in fits of rage doing damage to people and property. as far as i care, everything is ok in moderation as long as its not directly hurting anyone :)

@Vermin298 yes, agreed, but, keeping it illegal only causes more problems and there are only a few people that freak out like you talked about. also, cigerettes cause those problems more often then anything (except car crashes when speaking of alcohol) and are legal at 18, think about what happened when alcohol was prohibited, and how much better it god when it became legal, the same will be true with marajauna, it was when it was legal
