if a tranny could hold up. then it would be reliable. i love my 7.3. little bit less power sure. but i will take that over having to replace a tranny every 50k after you put mods ona cummins.
Do you happen to have the tune file on your computer still? Just wonderin if you wanted to send me the tune and I'll send you my innovative tune, just wanted to try out the tune Thats if you have the same strategy as i do.
cummins are great diesels dont get me wrong, but to put them in a dodge is just plain dumb, there chassis are junk. ford, chevy, dodge all have there ups and downs, chevys ups is there chassis//trans, fords got the rears, dodges lucked out and signed a contract with cummins!
The Duramax is General Motors' diesel engine family for large trucks, designed by Isuzu. The 6.6 liter Duramax was produced by DMAX, a joint venture between GM and Isuzu in Moraine, Ohio. However, in 2006, GM sold its entire stake in Isuzu ending the relationship. GM now has no connections with Isuzu. GM is now the sole maker of the Duramax. The 6.6 liter Duramax engine is the most reliable HD Pickup Truck diesel engine in the market according to the result of independent customer surveys.
And the customers don't know crap. Cummins is and has been the longest lasting DIESEL LIGHT TRUCK ENGINE on the market for years. Now the Mopar chassis they go into, well those are a little to be desired.
cummins used to be the best out there, the 02& up dodges in are shit, they were fast but you had to upgrade them to get the typical cummins power, the 6.7 isnt a good engine, but the 6.6 d-max is on top of the diesel world now, kickin almost all the cummins asses, always have kicked ford ass, the 7.3 is a good engine, but up at 6000 feet they dont last, none of the cummins last as good as d-max- they pull and run the best overall
I dont know why you keep saying over 6000 feet they dont last.. My buddy is the shop manager at a diesel shop here in town, he will agree that the 7.3, and 5.9 are the longest lasting diesel engines. I have never seen one duramax with over 150K.. I thought it was well known that the motors get blow by much, much sooner then most other diesels...
well my 2001 lb7 has over 350k on it and the only thing i have done is injectors and don't use oil, its worked from day 1. They are all good trucks if you take care of them.
(You cant believe a fan boy or a hater, all you get is partial info or its crap)
wow this is so freakin ignorant. somebody is biased to chevy? tell me where you got those last statistics, bub. cause im pretty sure that 7.3s last a hell of a lot longer than 176, most go over 300K. Never even seen a chevy with that kind of mileage, let alone a diesel. Dodge, yes
I like cummins, but not dodge. Chevy pissed me off, so no chevs, plus im not impressed with the duramax. Ford, in my opinion, is the better all around. Especially the 7.3 and later 6.0's.
The six was shit.. Too bad for you cummins and duramax fuckers that ford finally went to commonrail. Heard of the nutty professor tune from spartan? 275 horse tune. The truck will run a 12.8 with no more then intake, dpf delete and tune. These trannies are holdin it well too. Looks like the allison, and cummins are no longer appealing. Want a race truck, buy a ford, want a work truck, again buy a ford, want a nice daily driver truck, Ill say it once more... buy a ford.
DURAMAX? Lol. Duramax is made by Isuzu which the last time I checked was Japanese. Sure its a nice Diesel, its new and I do like DMax, but it cant outpower my PS or the Cummins
Go to a truck pull an count how many durashits you see on the track. The professionals know what to use an its a Cummins. It never ceases to amaze me that ford an chevy are still trying to make their v8's outpull, perform and last as long as Cummins good ole straight 6. You can sit around all you want and wish your luxurious chevy or cushy king ranch ford could just do the things that a Cummins can but it just wont. Cummins was made for work and thats what it is oh so great at.
@HorseOwner24 dmax can outpower you cummins untill you get into about a 20k build just on the motor then cummins gets good but efi cp3 and just a few other goodies and your seein 1000 hp in a dirty!
@fordpowerf450 a few other goodies you mean like all new internals i dont know of a single dmax thats very close to 1000rwhp on a stock crank and con rods also donforget theres a few 10sec and faster dmax running built 48re's because the built allisons arnt holding up
yea they got the 6.4 i think. but the 08's are having fuel mileage problems from the dpf from dumping raw fuel into the cylinder during the exhaust stroke during the regeneration cycle. diesel power magazine installed a dpf delete kit on a truck and it improved fuel economy 15-20%. it's just what you have done to the truck, how you drive, how you use the truck. my buddy has a 7.3 that gets 8mpg and my friends dad has a 12valve that gets 20mpg and the 12 valve has a lot more power.
no.. the 2008 is he twin turbo 6.4..... 2007 i still the 6.0l..... mine is the 2006 6.0l and its also SCT tuned by DP-Tuners...... check out my vid and u will see it and my old chevy.. both pretty modded out
8mpg out of a 7.3?!?! He has a leak somewhere. I couldnt get mine anywhere near that, the worst I have gotten so far was 15.9 and that was with about 2.5 hours of idle and mostly city driving
Yea, I really noticed the newer diesels getting good gas mileage. A 2007 Ford F350 Super Cab 4x4 came into work a few weeks ago getting 17.6mpg. You also get more power, and you get more energy out of a single molecule of diesel than gasoline. I did a research paper on diesel vs gas for school one time.
wouldnt be so quick to say that. The 6 liter was a notoriously unreliable engine, but the earlier models 03-04.5 (before ford stepped in) that didnt have any problems would make both the duramax and cummins look terrible, they were ridiculous. I used to work at a diesel shop.
The powerstroke has never been a good engine. The best powerstroke out there was the 7.3, and that went bye bye. Powerstrokes just can't hand with Duramax and Cummins.
Cummins has always built a stronger, more reliable engine from the start. I don't care where you worked, you obviously don't know what the hell you're talking about.
well, i would actually listen to you, but until i know you have been out there and spent time on trucks, ill still consider you an idiot. Dont ask me why, i hated the 6.0 but i watched my bosses duramax lose in a race to one (which had previously destroyed a chipped 7.3 with a 5 inch exhaust we installed) some of them were simply nuts. My uncle had one, only had it to 109,000 miles then rolled it but he still had 3 tow offs with 2 cummins and dura, yanked them all around the lot.
I'm in school right now for diesel technology and i have spent my whole life around Kenworths with cats, cummins, and detroits. My first truck was a 97 dodge with a 12 valve. I have been working on the fuckers forever, and i've never come across a modded powerstroke or a duramax that could hang with a cummins that's built up the same.
lol cummins might be more reliable but the junk its wrapped up in is not (dodge)(goat) i kno several 7.3's still goin strong at 400k++ and so is the tranny/rearend n so on i see dodges withthat many miles too but not without frontend replacements new tranny rearend n so on so basically ford is a better truck then dodge always has ben.....
I don't care how many 7.3ls you "kno" of that are still around. The fact of the matter is that the 5.9 and 6.7 cummins are the best diesels on the road today. They may not have the strongest trannys around, but hey, when you're pushing more torque and more hp than a powerstroke ever dreamed of having, then your transmission is going to appear to be weaker lol
The new dodges are excelant. Dodge learned from ford's mistakes. The new 6 speed is a dream. I know that the new powerstrokes don't just come wrapped in a new truck, but they come with a whole new set of problems lol
Dodge canned their tried and true motor for one the backs up your quote, "but they come with a whole new set of problems lol" My neighbors had his back at the dealership a number of times, my 6.0, never once. .....idiot.
We have had huge problems w/ the 6.7L.Yes software primarily, but also, turbo's,egr flow valves,02 sensors, egr bypass valves, catalysts & particulate filters, just to name the main issues. These engines require ultra low sulpher fuel & low ash engine oil(cj4 spec)The turbo's have variable vanes which are being fouled by deposits. The latest flash has helped-but its the 5th revision in six months-we'll see. Special fuel, special oil. Once a week use your exhaust brake, or else, problems, great change..
Pasteing that alone proves you obviously know nothing about diesels, and neither does the retard who wrote that lol.
Every diesel engine built after Jan. 1st 2007
is required to run low sulfur diesel as well as cj4 motor oil. And any variable volute turbocharger is subject to deposits. None of the issues named are dodge/cummins specific. Just DPF system specific. Ford went a different route, and they're paying for it with low HP and Torque numbers lol at least the cummins still has balls.
Ya a dodge diesel technician knows nothing and is a retard, typical youtube child's response. My truck has plenty of ball, I pull 20,000 pounds up hills passing trucks, barely trying. I'm not a kid that drag races my truck like you. I out pull most trucks. But I forgot, being a janitor at a diesel shop makes you an expert. lol Typical ignorant youtube liar.
I wasn't a janitor at a diesel shop lol. Very creative. I will say this, if i'm lying, then you're lying. And pulling isn't based on engine performance alone dumbass, so your point it moot. And what's wrong with drag racing? Upset about the fact that your big bad powerjoke can't hang with the cummins? Power is power, whether you're pulling or racing. If you can do one, you can do the other. Cummins is hands down the best diesel motor out there. There is no arguement about it.
If the truck is reliable and has what i want then yes. even without the powerstroke. I bet they would have gone with ditroit or cat instead. I look for all around useabillity and durabillity so it will last for many many years.
@TownHick I've hear a lot about ford transmissions sucking ass too, At least the dodge transmission doesn't puke transmission fluid when you try and tow something!
My buddy bought an 05, 5.9. Decent looking truck. About a month after I got my 7.3. he made it 4 days before it went back for a bad oil leak. A full month later (under extended warrenty) his cam was replaced. He is taking it back in for the tranny now. Mine is 5 years older and has only blown a hpop o ring. We went camping and he had to be jumped every morning by my truck because his wont start if its under 20 outside.
is it worth getting a diesel for a teenager. id like to go mudding but don't want to spend a lot at pump, and if i get a v8 im gonna have to keep refilling. i need your help please

WOW, what a piece of crap ford. is that impressive how long it takes to get up to hwy speed? because i was pretty impressed at how lame that was! weak video
ohh how such a badass you are in coming in and commenting on my "weak" video. That dually up there in the video that you say is weak is a mid to low 14 second truck in the 1/4th, with just a tune, and exhaust only.
also look how people who post comments like this never have videos of there... car anyway it says your 30, aint you a bit old for this imature commenting stuff?
Shit. I was looking at the highway sign & noticed you guys were getting off the B/A expressway. Small world. Ol' Ford looks bad-ass. L324RT12 from McAlester.
ehh it tells me when someone responds, so i figured while it was open i might as well respond? whats wrong with that? your doing the same thing by responding on the comments too.
@ AKelly01, you are probably thinking about the weird dodge front ends of the 90's with axle disconnect. Ford fronts have selectable hubs, so unless they are locked, nothing turns except the wheels. true IFS trucks, ie 88 up GMs, 97 up F-150s and most newer trucks are the ones with axleshafts and shit turning all the time
Why is it the people that have something to prove are always the loudest. There are more ford trucks from many years on the road today, and we don't go around talking shit about chevys and everybody else. Why are chevy guys always the most immature babies? Is it because the F150 is the bestselling or what is their problem?
i respect what you say but i own a 99 powerstoke dualy, 96 diesel, 06 duramax, 87? f350 dump, 89 chevy 2500 gas. the only trucks that have given problems are the fords. HMMMMMM
what has been problems with the 7.3s? glow plug, and CPS? I don't know anything about the 6.9 other than being an 87 it is 20 years old, and you would expect it to have problems. try driving an old 6.2 chevy diesel and see if it doesn't have any problems since it is that old. Not to mention the 6.5 in the 96 gmc that you have has a horrible cooling system and can never make any real power.
you did, but in the first words of the psot you said Duramax, so at that point i figured you had a duramax. Don't get me wrong, i do like the duramax, im just not a huge fan of the truck around it. Plus i just hate it when people use statements fords= junks and ford are dogs. Since you don't even own a duramax and you don't own a ford, you really don't have anything to add to this....
i agree with therealderrickman. you know a quick stock truck until you drive a duramax. we own a 99 f350 powerstroke and it is in no comparison with the duramax, towing, driving, or snowplowing it does compair to our 96 gmc 2500 diesel with 200,000 on it and to add the powerstroke has 21,000 so all you ford guys need to expirence a MANS truck
how do you call a "MANS" truck a stock duramax? i know a whole hell of alot more about the duramax than you do sir, and i have ridden in more than a few modded, alot faster than stock duramaxs, powerstrokes and cummins. Plus, how do you call the Dmax a Mans truck when do make them able to be able to sled pull or drag races, you have to beef up the front end to be able to hold up to a boosted 4x4 launch?
Thanks....I don't have an Egt guage in my van.... I'm thinkin' I should get one. diablosport setting on 60hp-155tq....its so fast I don't really stay on it for more than 6 seconds. LOL goes from 55 to 90 in 6 seconds and the van is refridgerated...and of course I'm not hauling 2600lbs of meat
well driving normally its aroudn 750 to 800, getting on it, and staying in it it will hit 1500*. The general rule is I try to keep it around 1500 only for a few seconds, hitting that for a few seconds won't hurt anything, but for long periods you can start melting stuff.
It becomes "heat soaked" which is bad. heat soaked is when you run the motor at around 12-13 for a long period, like going up a hill towing a big load, and then floor it and hit 1500*, because the motor is already hot and then you WILL do damage.
Its funny to hear all u GM guys talk trash. I work at a RV trailer dealership and 95% of my customers drive powerstroke or cummins. Duramax are a waste of money.
LOL, I modified my old 6.0L so it would do that and I had some asshole tailgateing me in a BRAND NEW white Impala, I dropped it into neutral reved it high back into drive and took off, I looked back nothing but a cloud of black smoke.
I have a gas powered car, so all I can do is slam on the brakes, and I do. I was running about 60 and had this chick so close I could barely see her headlights, so I came around a corner and came to a complete stop and she had to slide sideways to keep from hitting me.
You need a diesel ;). I hate tailgaters sometimes I wish I had an electronic board on the back of my truck that says "Get the hell off of my ass bitch!". That would be nice.

Ford went a different route, and they're paying for it with low HP and Torque numbers lol at least the cummins still has balls.
tvoidt 3 years ago
Ya a dodge diesel technician knows nothing and is a retard, typical youtube child's response. My truck has plenty of ball, I pull 20,000 pounds up hills passing trucks, barely trying. I'm not a kid that drag races my truck like you. I out pull most trucks. But I forgot, being a janitor at a diesel shop makes you an expert. lol Typical ignorant youtube liar.
giannicash 3 years ago
That's cute.
There is no arguement about it.
tvoidt 3 years ago
power stroking???? you must be joking
fukinstevo13 3 years ago
yea but dodge is junk. cummins is good but dodge trannies suck and so do the rest of the truck. if dodge didn't run cummins would you still buy one?
TownHick 3 years ago 14
They have transmission problems yes, but the rest of the truck is solid. Would you buy ford if they didn't have a powerstroke?
tvoidt 3 years ago
If the truck is reliable and has what i want then yes. even without the powerstroke. I bet they would have gone with ditroit or cat instead. I look for all around useabillity and durabillity so it will last for many many years.
TownHick 3 years ago 2
@TownHick Nope. I just buy a dodge because of the motor.
Hotrodx199 1 year ago
@TownHick I've hear a lot about ford transmissions sucking ass too, At least the dodge transmission doesn't puke transmission fluid when you try and tow something!
johntrebec 1 year ago
@johntrebec The New Torque Shift transmission can hold more HP and torque than the Allison tranny. lol

I'll end this, dodge sux, chevy sux, toyota sux, FORD RULES!!!!!!!!!!!!
EFFINHILMER 3 years ago 5
Man I just read all your comments. You are on crack. What did you do at this so called diesel shop? Empty the garbage cans? You are out of your mind.
ctdst 3 years ago 3
I worked on the trucks that retards like you own. Stacking chips and wondering why your pistons are fried lol
tvoidt 3 years ago
My buddy bought an 05, 5.9. Decent looking truck. About a month after I got my 7.3. he made it 4 days before it went back for a bad oil leak. A full month later (under extended warrenty) his cam was replaced. He is taking it back in for the tranny now. Mine is 5 years older and has only blown a hpop o ring. We went camping and he had to be jumped every morning by my truck because his wont start if its under 20 outside.

No. Diesel fuel is not only more expensive, but typically get worse gas mileage than a gas pickup.

jimbojims 3 years ago
ohh how such a badass you are in coming in and commenting on my "weak" video. That dually up there in the video that you say is weak is a mid to low 14 second truck in the 1/4th, with just a tune, and exhaust only.

also look how people who post comments like this never have videos of there... car anyway it says your 30, aint you a bit old for this imature commenting stuff?

ehh it tells me when someone responds, so i figured while it was open i might as well respond? whats wrong with that? your doing the same thing by responding on the comments too.
banksforddiesel99 4 years ago
yeah but str8 axels spin the whole time even when u arent in 4wheel. bad gas mileage
AKelly01 4 years ago
umm no. not any worse than the wimpy GM IFS.
banksforddiesel99 4 years ago
@ AKelly01, you are probably thinking about the weird dodge front ends of the 90's with axle disconnect. Ford fronts have selectable hubs, so unless they are locked, nothing turns except the wheels. true IFS trucks, ie 88 up GMs, 97 up F-150s and most newer trucks are the ones with axleshafts and shit turning all the time
JMLev88432 3 years ago
Why is it the people that have something to prove are always the loudest. There are more ford trucks from many years on the road today, and we don't go around talking shit about chevys and everybody else. Why are chevy guys always the most immature babies? Is it because the F150 is the bestselling or what is their problem?
yellowmusicfreak 4 years ago
Funny how you say ford guys never trash talk chevy guys then you completely contradict yourself in the next sentence. :)
Colemode 4 years ago
or is it because they're pissed because gm wont put solid front axels under 3/4 and 1 ton trucks like real trucks have?
fordman2288 4 years ago
lol yea even the 1500 dodge has st8 axel thats sad hahahah

minivan442 4 years ago 3
i respect what you say but i own a 99 powerstoke dualy, 96 diesel, 06 duramax, 87? f350 dump, 89 chevy 2500 gas. the only trucks that have given problems are the fords. HMMMMMM
dylan9990 4 years ago
what has been problems with the 7.3s? glow plug, and CPS? I don't know anything about the 6.9 other than being an 87 it is 20 years old, and you would expect it to have problems. try driving an old 6.2 chevy diesel and see if it doesn't have any problems since it is that old. Not to mention the 6.5 in the 96 gmc that you have has a horrible cooling system and can never make any real power.
banksforddiesel99 4 years ago
Heh, work at an auto parts store and you'll quickly realize that you sell about 10 Silverado parts for every ONE Ford truck part.
I won't buy GM trucks simply for that reason. Why would I buy a truck I sell TONS of parts for?!
35Remmy 4 years ago
i second that my buddy used to work at advance and thats wat he always says
fordman2288 4 years ago
i believe i said "1996 gmc diesel"
fords are dogs
dylan9990 4 years ago
you did, but in the first words of the psot you said Duramax, so at that point i figured you had a duramax. Don't get me wrong, i do like the duramax, im just not a huge fan of the truck around it. Plus i just hate it when people use statements fords= junks and ford are dogs. Since you don't even own a duramax and you don't own a ford, you really don't have anything to add to this....
banksforddiesel99 4 years ago
fords= JUNK
dylan9990 4 years ago
you really need to learn, GM never made a 96 Duramax. It was the 6.5 Liter Diesel. There is no way the 99 PSD is being beaten by a 96 Gm Diesel. HAHA
fOUNTAIN38 4 years ago 3
i agree with therealderrickman. you know a quick stock truck until you drive a duramax. we own a 99 f350 powerstroke and it is in no comparison with the duramax, towing, driving, or snowplowing it does compair to our 96 gmc 2500 diesel with 200,000 on it and to add the powerstroke has 21,000 so all you ford guys need to expirence a MANS truck
dylan9990 4 years ago
how do you call a "MANS" truck a stock duramax? i know a whole hell of alot more about the duramax than you do sir, and i have ridden in more than a few modded, alot faster than stock duramaxs, powerstrokes and cummins. Plus, how do you call the Dmax a Mans truck when do make them able to be able to sled pull or drag races, you have to beef up the front end to be able to hold up to a boosted 4x4 launch?
fOUNTAIN38 4 years ago
Thanks....I don't have an Egt guage in my van.... I'm thinkin' I should get one. diablosport setting on 60hp-155tq....its so fast I don't really stay on it for more than 6 seconds. LOL goes from 55 to 90 in 6 seconds and the van is refridgerated...and of course I'm not hauling 2600lbs of meat
meatman310 4 years ago
Is that a 6.0 truck?... I own an o4 E-3506.0 van have a tuner, intake and 4" exhaust. Just curious what does you egt temp run at normally..........??
meatman310 4 years ago
well driving normally its aroudn 750 to 800, getting on it, and staying in it it will hit 1500*. The general rule is I try to keep it around 1500 only for a few seconds, hitting that for a few seconds won't hurt anything, but for long periods you can start melting stuff.
banksforddiesel99 4 years ago
It becomes "heat soaked" which is bad. heat soaked is when you run the motor at around 12-13 for a long period, like going up a hill towing a big load, and then floor it and hit 1500*, because the motor is already hot and then you WILL do damage.
banksforddiesel99 4 years ago

thats getting it on?????? haha buy a duramax
therealderrickman 4 years ago
why, so i can spend 4-5 thousand dollars on a transmission to hold any amount of power? I will take my 1300 dollars of mods, and be happy with it.
banksforddiesel99 4 years ago
ya tell me about. duramax all the way
guy2202 4 years ago
Its funny to hear all u GM guys talk trash. I work at a RV trailer dealership and 95% of my customers drive powerstroke or cummins. Duramax are a waste of money.
Pinchback06 4 years ago
honestly I like them all but I prefer duramax's out of them all.

a feature like that would be great for a tailgater in a white car.
ilikecars1 4 years ago
LOL, I modified my old 6.0L so it would do that and I had some asshole tailgateing me in a BRAND NEW white Impala, I dropped it into neutral reved it high back into drive and took off, I looked back nothing but a cloud of black smoke.
My2008F450KingRanch 4 years ago
I have a gas powered car, so all I can do is slam on the brakes, and I do. I was running about 60 and had this chick so close I could barely see her headlights, so I came around a corner and came to a complete stop and she had to slide sideways to keep from hitting me.
ilikecars1 4 years ago
You need a diesel ;). I hate tailgaters sometimes I wish I had an electronic board on the back of my truck that says "Get the hell off of my ass bitch!". That would be nice.
My2008F450KingRanch 4 years ago
dude i had the same idea too. those lil lighte boards so i can type mesasges to a holes!!
LILPICKUPMAN 4 years ago
Wouldn't that be nice as hell tho? I would want one that about covers my whole tailgate though...It is tempting...
My2008F450KingRanch 4 years ago
it would be nice for jerks. and cute girls behind you. hahaha. Hey there... you like power strokes...?
LILPICKUPMAN 4 years ago
Lol...Nope, I don't like powerstrokes. I love powerstrokes! Can't ya tell by my user name?
