They were probably going by the broadcast order in Japan. They mixed up the order of the episodes so it's not really in the chronological order. But I think it was so episode 6 could be last, since it's got such a climax.

if you think all that is mixed up, look at season 2, in the 1st episode 2nd season they do this thing with putting wish cards on a tree, its the 2nd season so you would think it comes after the first season, but not really, cause you see the tree with wish cards in the first season if u look close enough.
