@QuantumQuacks Who said any thing about replacing oil. I am saying ethanol can help. I have learned the whole process in making it, my cousin had a permit for 10000 gallons a year, i am familiar with it's by products, My father has live stock in a few different states and has talked about the DDG used in the feed he sells, not to mention I live near a 50 Million gallon a year facility. yes I have studied ethanol allot. I am a huge fan of all bio fuels. Algae has potential but it's not ready yet.
you have a lot to learn about Ethanol. Ethanol is a fine substitute for oil, I am sick of explaining the benefits that Ethanol have to lazy people that don't take the time to find out the positive contribution Ethanol has made. Ethanol is not perfect but it is a good way to start getting off of oil. Study peak oil and quit acting like a jack ass.
Feedlots want gov. subsidized grain to feed livestock and poultry cheaply at taxpayer expense, a program that guarantees more farmers go broke every year.
Grain co's and feeders get rich on gov. welfare programs for them, they are jealous that grains now have an established ethanol market, protecting farmers.
Make My Day! Eliminate the 51 cent Ethanol subsidy, but be sure to eliminate the $5.60 subsidy Big Oil gets for each gallon sold as well.
Overpopulation isn't a problem. Problem is people allowing their governments to stifle direct farmer to customer shipment of food and concentrates to raise fish and mushrooms. There isn't a place on earth where a farmer should be prevented from selling DDGS to the poor, $0.15 will raise a pound of fish.
Transnational grain co's. prevent farmers from directly shipping to customers.
Tyrants prevent off loading of feed at ports all over earth, wanting a bribe to do business.
You could take the 90 million acres in feeder corn and the 40 million acres in the land bank paying farmers NOT to farm, the resulting 130 million acres of DDGS would net 15 million tons a year, which would net 10 million tons of fish protein.
That is enough protein to feed 3 billion people 4 ounces a day, 6 days a week for a whole year.
Most people are slowly learning that diverting food crops to make biofuel for inefficient SUV's is a "Crime Against Humanity", but few people seem to understand the well-documented science of the deadly cancer-causing atmospheric "aldehydes" that are produced when ethanol from any source (food OR cellulosic) is burned in internal combustion engines. See YouTube video: "Burning Ethanol: DEADLY Aldehydes"
Biodiesel also produces these unhealthy aldehydes (like Formaldehyde and Acetaldehyde).
This guy is a nut. If he is so worried about ethanol and starvation, why doesn't he advocate for importing Brazilian ethanol. Brazilian ethanol comes to the US with higher tariff (+50 cent/gal) than the Saudi oil...its called protectionism, and we (the consumers) are paying for it! This guy must have a tad too much of speculative investment in the oil industry...prick!
this guys a idiot . The Federal government pays over 175 million a year in farm subsidies every year.Paying farmers with big farms not to plant there land ,to protect small farms .Want more food quit paying farmers not to plant.also the corn that there using for ethanol is what is called field corn ,it is normally used in dry dog food ,and cattle food .Truth is farms production has been down in the usa ,alot of the blame is been because the honey bees are dieing off.

Tilapia worth $2 a lb. using $0.15 of DDGS.
We keep the 40 billion gal. Ethanol

"we have been wiping out starvation for years..."
Which planet does this Cramer guy live on?
I agree that producing ethanol from food is immoral, but starvation is a continuing problem exacerbated by human overpopulation.
