i have the 1060 (32GB) and it sounds better than any ipod.... 1st 2nd and 3rd generation and also it has a OLED display (better than the LCD) but sony Walkman is just that THE BEST QUALITY SOUND and ipod have more useful features or Gadgets like PDA, games, a handle internet browser etc.

So if you are a audiophile i recommend the Sony X series

but if you like the Gadgets ipod is a better option

i think that this looks like a really high quality product but can you download apps like the itouch? also we own a couple of sony products, a blueray player and PSP, and i think that sony might have problems with wifi because we cant get either of them connected to the internet because the connection process is so complicated. so what i'm asking is, is it hard to connect this to wifi or is it as simple as entering a wep key?

I have the 1050 model (16GB) and it is a very nice digital audio player. It sounds SO MUCH BETTER than an iPod Touch!!! If everything else were equal, then I might believe Sony could gain ground, but here in the West, it is not going to happen. The iPod Touch is about to reach its third iteration with many new features. Also, the App Store really gives the iPod Touch a lead in usability; it can do so much. Love the Sony for music; the iPod Touch for everything else.

I have just ordered one and its fantastic guys!!! Having used both ipod nano and the new ipod touch, I can tell you this is unbelivable! Screen quality, hardware quality, THE SOUND QUALITY!! led screen does lots of difference from ipod touch, and the response of the touch screen is fantastic..it supports all videos I have, no more itunes shit... :))) I am a happy man!

Yes you can delete stuff from the walkman, I am not sure if you can create playlists, but if you created folders while uploading it remembers all those..its really easy and fun to use! touch screen acts fantastically! touch control is even smoother than iphone!

Tbh i dont think this has anything on the Ipod Touch. The touch screen doesnt look as reponsive or impressive, they have totally ripped off apple with the album scrolling thing. All they have done is turned it around T_T. The sound quailty may be better but the ipod has so much to more offer - one being the app store with a shitload of different shit to play around with. i think the ipod looks a lot more slicker too. From what ive seen it doesnt seemed to match up the ipod, ill have wait and see

Apple has the market cornered on "COOL" but I want functionality over fashion and this new OLED Walkman fits the bill. Beautiful screen and great touch tech.

Not that I like the iPod touch, but it doesn't support gapless, can't do lossless, too many bells and whistles, you can't modify playlists to play songs in your own order.

Although the sound quality can only be rivaled by Cowon. iPod will never get near that unless it's an iModded iPod video.

Unfortunately it is true. G4TV said $299 for 16GB and $399 for 32GB. On CNET, they said it would be priced competitively with the iPod touch (the 16 & 32GB touch are priced exactly the same.)

Then again, when you consider some of the features you get on the Walkman that are not found on the iPod touch (OLED screen, FM radio, digital amp, built-in noise-cancellation, premium stock earbuds), the price doesn't seem too bad.
