Excellent aircraft, and video. I saw one of these that made a landing at Cubi Point, PI. A grand plane that served long past any of its contemporaries. Reliable and fast.
Fantastic film thanks - As an ATC cadet I was invited to spent three weeks at RAF St Mawgan in 1966 - then air sea rescue on Avro Shackeltons and Westand Whirlwinds - an unforgetable experience - eight to ten hour sorties often as low as ten foot! My life was changed forever - thanks again - Howard
I was stationed at Lossiemouth in 1986 when VIII Sqn were operating out of there. Brings back great memories ! The Sqn had a real owl as a mascot which was kept in a large cage outside the Sqn HQ.
I too remember the "Old Grey Lady" of Lossie, as a kid, before the MOD retired them from service, which I think was 1991. Unfortunatly my father got posted to Wittering Aug 1991,before they were retired. Thanks for the memories, and hopefully we may see them in the sky again one day very soon.
Another nice work and job well done to funtimesteve3 who touch the hearts of many War Veterans and voluteers, Great video and Perfect Music, Perfect footage, THanks funtimesteve3! more power!

Great video. Flew in Shackleton whenever I could. Loved 'em! On long duration flights Mulligarawny soup was aircrews favourite bevvy!

THE end of the greatest era. The last of the prop driven heavies. A magnificent and powerful airplane. What a thrill it must have been!

This is my favourite Shackleton video on youtube. It's inspiring. Nice to see that our WR963 stars in it towards the end too!
